-Taking a 7 and 2 year old to the city for a wedding and then a brief excursion to the hamptons after to "rest" was pretty daunting. Christ. We made it, though. 5 am Jitney to Laguardia was absolutely horrendous planning.
-Wedding was incredible. The Boathouse in Prospect Park (Brooklyn). Nailed my Best Man toast. The Wooks played and then a DJ, which was perfect. Drank a ton of gin. Street tacos late night. 10/10.
-Bride and much of her side were Texas grads so I got to give them a sarcastic "Welcome to the SEC" in my toast. Kentucky side laughed. Felt good tbh.
-Rehearsal Dinner at The Standard East Village. 21 floors up, low balcony. I had to have 3 quick drinks to appease my fear of heights. What a view. What a city.
-I know kooky is more versed on the matter but the city felt pretty good, maybe not 100%, but far better than last December. Obviously the weather/season helped, but was encouraging.
-SIL's wealthy boyfriend has an absolute unit in Bridgehampton. Jesus. Restored working barn on a private lot. Salt water pool. Just unreal. My daughter asked if I was "jealous," the little ****, and I instinctively said no, and meant it. I mean, I figured the property taxes alone were more than I cleared in 2020. Who needs/wants that?
-After a carnival of a July I am sprinting towards the mundane. I've got some patio furniture I need to strip and paint, a garage to clean out, and some other things around the house that have accumulated. Throw something on the grill each night, a few beers, and in bed early sounds perfect this weekend.
-Kevin Morby is a nice little find from Spotify. Folksy/Bluesy. I'm enjoying.
-Looks like the SAE MILD AUGUST plea went unheard. F this extended forecast.
-Massive yellow poplar out front dropping leaves like it's October. Hate the mess it leaves in the yard when I've got the sucker looking pretty good. Oh well. Still love the old man.
-Give me a bucket of Lee's over the CFA nuggets tray all/air for Wildcats tailgating.
