Shorts:

- Sucks we don’t get Last Chance U this year to whet our college football appetite in August.

- I find the “Somewhere Out There” song from “Fievel Goes West” to be the saddest, most melancholy **** I’ve ever heard.

- Lots of Moeller/Summit/St. X yard signage in my hood. Don’t like it.

- I don’t want to hear anymore about any celebrities “speaking out” or “opening up.”

- Loved the Woodstock 99 doc Bill Simmons produced. Brought back all kinds of nostalgia. Can’t say I recall knowing any Korn or Limp Bizcuit fans but certainly knew a bunch of the types of guys in that crowd.

- It needs to be said, for being the greatest rock band of all-time, the Beattles sure had some suspect taste in women.

- My USA team basketball number would be #7.

- For consistency across restaurants, you just can’t beat chicken pad thai.

- Facebook bourbon groups are pretty much the same 5-6 dickheads who have some sort of hookup bragging about what they just picked up.

- Have mentioned it before but among all the fake **** females pull, hair extensions are my least favorite. These chicks look ridiculous.

-Nice to see all 3 of the big name Cubs hit a HR for their new teams in their debut!

Hey Jed Hoyer, we still have no pitching you moron!

- Guys(and gals) seriously if you’ve ever considered a pool hit up that link I posted. Most contractors are out 8-10 months, but I’ll have my pool by October and almost $50,000 less than the quotes I received.

Unreal.

- Why is it that kids gravitate to their mothers, but once moms have had enough it’s like they could literally kill the kids. Dads, well we will just order pizza and send you to your room. I’ll never get the mommy mommy mommy infatuation.

- Facebook groups are indeed filled with attn whores, but they have helped me grow my brand and I still love when they post pics of my stuff.

- Fantasy Football season, I’d like to completely quit this fad I got into in my 20s now.

- My nieces/nephew mom brought groceries last night which was cool of her, but she was high as a kite, fell at least twice and just a mess.

Not sure what she mumbled after I sent the kids to their rooms and suggested inpatient help, and I can’t say that the words I understood were wrong. Point stands though!

- Going to Etown this weekend for that pool park and a par 3. Time to see if my dudes are able to handle golf. I need a legit reason to get into it, and my wife can’t get pissed if it’s for the kids. But if she does, I’ll deal with that 6 hours later and a few cold ones in.

- I still love Korn. Nu-metal hit right in my "formative" musical years so it will always have a special place in my heart despite most of it being absolutely terrible.

- Bizkit, chad. Put some respect on Fred Durst's ****** music.

- The worst thing about this Olympics is the time difference and the fact that NBC edits the crap out of everything. Track has been better about showing more of the heats, etc. but I feel like only a couple gymnasts for each event were shown during the all-around and such since it had all happened hours before.

The "woke" stuff is remarkably easy to ignore if you stay off Twitter, tbh. hasn't impacted my enjoyment of the games at all. Helps UK track is representing strong, especially with the ladies.

- After watching Usain Bolt, the men's 100 looked positively slow. Just unreal how much better Bolt was than anyone, ever. I'm not the only one who was impressed with the one Chinese guy who somehow made it to the final, right? I mean, that's not supposed to happen. He sucked out loud (relatively speaking, obviously), but he still got to the final as a Chinese sprinter. The Italian who won also looked like a doughboy Situation compared to some of the other sprinters. Fred Kersey is over in lane whatever looking like a Greek god, and then you have Italian gold medalist looking like he's fresh off the Shore with some party lbs hanging on.

- The golf playoff for bronze was awesome. I also liked the medalists giggling at the bouquets they received with their medals that had what looked like Hello Kitty fastened to the front.

I believe "Somewhere Out There" was from the original An American Tail, which was the first movie that I ever saw in the theater.

Watched it this weekend and agree. Really weird time for music that just happened to fall at the same time as the 30th anniversary.

"Somewhere Out There" is up there as far as melancholy/sad goes, but it's got nothing on "Married Life", the song playing during the first 10 minutes of "Up".

How can you say that? Yoko became an adjective. How great is that?
McCartney got married to an heiress, a "one-legged star chaser" and someone now closer to his age who puts up with his fetishes.
George was high.
Ringo will outlive them all and did the best imo.

Guys (and gals) seriously if you’ve ever considered home shopping hit up that agent I posted about. Most real estate is selling in less than 8-10 DOM but I’ll be moving into my new place by October and got it for $1.9 million under asking.

Melissa Manchester - Don't Cry Out Loud = GOAT sad/melancholy song, imo...at a minimum it makes the playlist.

Song goes hard AF, especially the end.

+ Bonus Points for one of my favorite SC scenes w/ Roland getting down next door.

Coming up on my 9-year anniversary in a few months... as cliche as it is to say- time really does fly. A lot of those years we've been trying to start a family but just hadnt had any luck. After a few years of trying on our own we started IVF about 18 months ago. I wasnt really familiar with the process honestly, though have since come to find out its much more common than I ever realized. I think we were 8 months in before I even began to mention it to a small handful of friends. We went through some pretty dark days when things still weren't working out. Had more than one conversation with various doctors that maybe it just wasnt going to work out. Its a pretty awful thing to have to watch your wife hear that she may not be able to have children.

We had talked adoption for a while (and continue to do so), but for the time being decided to try one last go with IVF. At that point it was kind of a 'why the hell not" decision. A few weeks ago we saw our little girl's heartbeat on an ultrasound. She is due to join us in early February. It's obviously a ways away still- but it's the most excited/anxious I've ever been about anything.

We got to tell all of our parents over the last couple of weeks which was pretty cool. We hadnt had "good" tears in a long time it seemed. I snuck it into the SB text thread, like I had hoped to for a few years... She will likely have a hyphenated first name, like all true southern ladies. And without much hesitation- I will buy her whatever she wants for as long as I'm around.

I don't know anybody in here, I and just haphazardly hop in with a take when I'm interested in the subject matter, but the core of this thread just seems like wholesome, good people. This post puts me in a good place, and I wish you two the best.

Just saw a Brazilian gymnast that looks like a real life Popeye with cartoonishly massive arms dismount the rings (which I have no idea how TF they do that **** good lord) on his face. This is the stuff I watch for!

September will be 28 years being hitched. Middle son gets married August 14th. One more to go, but going to be a while I am afraid with the youngest son leaving the nest.

On KSR they had a article talking about UK fan night at the Braves game. That ATL / UK co-branded hat is a MUST have. Too bad for the the Cubs / Reds / and Cardinals fans here their teams do not have a UK fan night. Ironic that is at against the Reds for the promotion. Guess they needed to boost attendance because of the Reds hurting their ticket sales.

I was out of town last weekend for a guys weekend at Lake Barkley (Mineral Mounds is in great shape), wife calls me around 2:45 AM asking me "where is your gun at ?" "Uh with me." A lady walks up to the garage door that was open as her and her bestie was drinking a few cocktails. She told them she "ran out of gas." No car around, my wife's smell test meter starts going ape ****. Tells her she can't help, then closes the garage door. She goes into the house about 20 minutes later and my dog is standing in the foyer at the front door with his ears perked up. Same lady was knocking on the door as earlier. My wife calls the police, they look around the hood, no car out of gas spotted anywhere in a 3 block radius. Obviously the girl was casing the house and more people was waiting in the wings to break in. I would have given anything to have been home, I wish a MF'er would.

Next thing you know you'll be riding down the interstate when you realize your infant has dropped a massive explosive deuce and is digging it out of his diaper to play with.

I think we should add 8 teams from the Pac-10, all of the Big 10, the top 7 schools from the ACC, 9 from the Big 12, plus Boise State, BYU and Notre Dame and have one super extra badass super conference.

My favorite Disney movie. Anytime my mom wanted me to go to sleep in the car she’d put that soundtrack on. Love me some Fivel, little Jew mouse.

So CP3 stays with Phoenix.

Cleveland though, I mean just dumb. They made a move to get Jarret Allen which seemed smart then, and then the draft Evan Mobley and resign Allen to a 5yr 100M?

What path is it that GMs take to be in control of these teams and just completely make piss poor decisions annually?
