Is this going to be a sanctioned fight, with "rules", or is it just going to be one of those stupid "parking lot" dick-swinging contests? The type that makes you look away in embarrassment, as puffed up chests bump, and glacier slow punches either miss entirely, or connect at the top of the skull (sure to lead to swollen knuckles and revisionist history, when telling the story to someone that didn't actually WITNESS the pathetic display)?
If it's a legit bout, I'm down to buy some tickets. If it's the other, I can drive up to Rose and Jim's and see that every Saturday night, about 11:30.

- In the first few years we would get up early (2-3AM) and start the trek back home but the last couple years I’ve started late afternoon and drove until 1-2AM and I do much better. Kids are awake longer but they were champs this go around.

Got just a slight hint of autumn in the air this morning. It goes well with the smell of roasting peanuts from the JIF factory.
-Votto’s hot streak actually reminds me of my darkest/lowest time. In 2010, I had really struggled in real estate the previous two years. Went back to finish my degree so I could get into sales. Votto kept my spirits up at night watching him ball out. Just a reminder how things can change if we just hang in there.
-This National convention is a spectacle. Kids walking around with 100K-200k worth of sports cards like it’s no big deal. We sold a Pokémon’ card for $29,000, MJ/Kobe and Lebron triple autograph for 150k, Babe Ruth cut autograph and probably 50 Kobe Bryant autographs.
-My pops is struggling. The nursing home visits twice a day will take a toll on the soul.
-HBO episode airs August 24th 10PM est.

Turn on Olympics for first time this morning to watch men’s bball. Find about 5 different events ranging from water polo to badminton to ping pong and more (hell New Zealand vs France women’s rugby is on TV) on 5 diff channels but no bball?!?! Airing on Peacock only?? Turns off immediately.

My only viable option to move back here is to have a chance to convert granny’s St Matthew’s apt building to condos. That’d be a nice little segue to launch a practice down here. I hope this comes to fruition.
If Wake Forest is already $73k/year, my estimates of needing $250-$275k total in 16 years for my current 2 year old will not be enough.
One of the more nostalgic things about Lexington. I’m not sure what causes it but a brisk Fall morning carries that smell for miles.

-Get home last night, after a long stressful day at work, to 7kids and 4 women in my house. It's a f*cking zoo. Complete anarchy. Push out 14 smash burgers like a champ. After a couple rounds you lose some quality with grease and maintaining even heat on the steel but these were all restaurant quality. Look, if you're going to special request the best burger in the world, don't f*cking try and customize it. And if you even think about putting ketchup on it you can just gtfo. Seriously, leave. Pack your **** and head home.

-Summer Picnic/Festival season as a kid growing up in Lou was amazing. Hitting a different one every Fri/Sat. Talk about getting stuff done. Just getting them digits like a boss.
-I've seen like 10 minutes of Olympic MBB. Hopefully they're figuring **** out.

Thanks anth but I’m aware that it’s the roasted peanuts, I smell it regularly driving through Chevy Chase on the way to work. I was talking about it carrying out to Man-o-War on an occasional brisk morning.

Speaking of cool downtown areas, Santa Barbara may just be the greatest place on earth. Business trip there the past few days. Wow. That’s all I have to say.
People getting triggered about the volleyball outfits really need to head to the beach. SoCal beaches are basically “let’s wear as little clothing as possible” right now. Fan.
99% sure I’ve had the Delta variant. Fully vaxed. Whatever. It’s a bad cold.

We’re now back to a full indoor mask mandate in New Orleans. Yay us!

CBS this morning also did an interview with a high schooler who’s currently in the children’s ICU here. 17 years old and weighs almost 400 pounds. FWIW.
