Really think #iubb is underestimating what 20 years of irrelevance has done to their brand nationally.

What's remarkable are the similarities to Tennessee Football. Nobody cares about the coaching search from a respect standpoint, we just all want to see how badly it goes and measure the delta from expectations to reality once the coach is named.

Brad Stevens is not ever going to leave the Celtics voluntarily for any college job. I don't know why people think that might happen, but it's monumentally stupid.
I will disagree. I'd say in a few years when no title happens, which it wont, he would strongly consider leaving and going Duke or Kentucky.

- Matta is a terrific coach, but I thought he was sick of the recruiting cesspool. Problem is, IU is a place that cares about that, so you have to play that game. Guy might be better off waiting for a high-major that isn't a pressure cooker, where fans follow star rankings almost as much as they follow on-court success. Notre Dame might actually be a good place to land for him, assuming Brey might be hanging it up. They *care*, but they don't CARE.

- SAE nailed it with the comparison to UT football. If Tennessee ended up with Josh Heupel, IU may very well do the same. Gone are the days when we can assume that coaches will crawl to blueblood openings. If you're making millions at a place that will build a statue for you when you win 22 games a year and make the occasional E8, you won't rush to trade that for a place that will take years off your life for just a bit more. I still think Kentucky could land a big fish when Cal leaves, but I say that with the belief that Holtmann would say yes, and the belief that Cal would leave the cupboard well-enough stocked that another top guy would be alright sliding in, not having to rebuild things. IU's returning talent, assuming TJD leaves, is baaad next year. While the resources are all in place to get things back on track in a hurry, it's not a turnkey situation. I think they end up with Beilein, and if I'm them, I'm ecstatic with that.

- I'm intrigued with Chipotle's new quesadilla. Will report back. Not intrigued with Skyline's green noodles today, so I will not report back.

- Westwood One Week.

- UNLV needs to throw every dollar it can muster from boosters at Pitino. Period. College basketball needs that program to be relevant again, and he's the quickest way to do it. He gets to finish with one more rebuild project, and at a place where he can wear the black hat. Let's do it.

- Peevy is gonna have some intriguing choices at DePaul. His buddy Payne? Local winner Moser? Chicago native and rising star Gates? Native and K protege Scheyer? Not sure he can really go wrong with any of those choices, though I'd definitely put the first three on a higher tier.

- Look, I'm not uber-giddy about a tournament without Kentucky, but I just need some normalcy in my life right about now. So give me some brackets and TruTV and Kevin Harlan and the whole bit. I won't complain.

Feels like IU might whiff hard if they shoot for the stars here. If they just go get Oats* or Beard they might be able to slowly work their way back to national relevance, but at this point they're on the Georgetown/Seton Hall/UConn level and they have a long, slow path ahead. Try and string a few tournament appearances together in a row and grow with a coach, then maybe think about a big name. If they hold out thinking they're getting Mark Few or something delusional like that they'll wind up with Mark Turgeon, lol.

*Have to check with Voin to see if he'd be interested.

Many teams were interested in Donovan when he didn't extend with the Thunder. The same will happen if/when Stevens leaves Boston. Wouldn't be surprised if he's coaching the Pacers within the next few years. Neither will return to college.

Throw Nebraska in there too.

These programs start to think their **** doesnt stink and run off a good coach. Other good coaches see that and avoid going into a no-win situation.

This is exactly why I think getting rid of Cal would be monumentally ignorant. Tubby left on his own and we nearly aent down the path of irrelevance with BCG, no point in tempting fate.

Old man problems... in 10 years we're gonna be talking about how hard it is to take a piss and how often we have to do it. My old man is constantly asking if I get calf cramps, how bad do my knees hurt, etc. "Just you wait" every single time.

10 years ago next month I was huddled in a closet hoping that massive tornado coming out of Tuscaloosa swung north. Sounds like today they are anticipating a version of that.

Corned beef an cabbage catered in from Oneils today. Not a great smell to have lingering the rest of the afternoon.

In the market for a truck. The Silverado needs retiring. Anyone with thoughts on the newer Tundras?

Other than potatoes, I cant think of any Irish food I would seek out.

Green beer meets the criteria for my St Patty's celebration goals though.

<— In better shape than most Americans, but sometimes I just can’t trust a fart.

I remember the first time I sharted. It happened at like 5 or 6 years old and I was visiting my mom...I had a dark maroon little pile of immaculate poo that looked like it was processed and squeezed out by an artisan cupcake maker in my whitie tighties.

I strolled casually to the restroom and proceeded to try and rinse it out. As I got back during the climax of Commando I tried to play it off...and then my Aunt who I had barely seen said in a deep Harlan accent, “Who sh*t their britches?”

I sat there silent for a few minutes trying to deny that it wasn’t me because I didn’t want to intrude on the sanctimony of her precious double wide trailer...but it was me and she knew it.

I took a quick bath and all was good.

Shep Pie is pretty damn fine as a once-per-winter comfort meal, although I've probably only had it 5x in my life.

Still vividly remember '73 going Scotch egg at 2am hammered at Molly's circa early 2000s - found that to be an incredibly bizarre choice at the time.

I'm sure the rest of us went to Bambs.

Never have since I was four. But almost did of all places at Rupp Arena. Was walking up to Rupp for the UT game(Tubby Years). Maybe a quarter mile away and it hit me. I literally jogged briskly into the Hyatt sweating. It was just a matter of minutes before the screamin’ uglies won this battle.

Finally getting to the bathroom and the line in the bathroom was 5-6 deep. I can’t even explain the disappointment after I thought I had made it. Saw a Hyatt employee and told them if they get me a bathroom within 2 minutes I’ll give them $20.

Kids eyes got big and ran me downstairs to the employee bathroom. Best $20 I’ve ever spent at Rupp. No idea what I would have done had a **** my pants as a grown man at Rupp Arena four hours from home with a crew of buddies.

*As you get older, anyone else start sharting/shitting their pants every now and then? No, just me? I remember when I was in high school, I was playing in a golf tournament, and two guys in their 50s were talking about shitting their pants, and I just smirk laughed at them. He said "You've never **** your pants? I replied "Nope, not since I was a baby" (which was a lie, I **** my pants in kindergarten and had to go home from school). Anyway, he said, "Just wait, you will." For some reason, that random conversation has always stuck with me, and I'll be damned if that guy wasn't speaking the truth.

*Got my second Moderna shot on Saturday afternoon. Couldn't get to sleep Saturday night, and actually felt like I had taken a steroid shot. Woke up Sunday feeling like a million bucks and decided to go play golf. Big mistake. 6 holes in started with the body aches, shivering, etc... I'm 99% sure I made it significantly worse by going out in the cold and wind and playing golf. Regardless, fully vaccinated, and ready to get out in public and drink some beers.

*Just finished Leave the World Behind. Pretty decent take on the apocalyptic genre. Recommend. Not highly, but recommend.

*After not really enjoying the first couple of episodes of Schitt's Creek and giving up on it, the wife and I decided to give it another try, and I'm glad we did so. Through about 5 or so seasons now, and just a solid feel-good show.

*I only care about one thing this March. A blue-blood not winning the title. Kansas and UNC, GTFO as soon as possible.

*My 10-year-old daughter has decided to give golf another go this summer. Love it, but buying clubs for growing kids is a pain in the ***. Thinking about jumping on US KIds and going with those (I think they have some sort of trade up program as kids grow). Anyone gone this route before?

*Watched The Devil All The Time this weekend. A good watch, but pretty depressing, and the southern accents from some of the actors really needed some work.

*Bought the little Tac Tic golf training aid on Amazon, and anxiously awaiting its arrival. Supposed to help with wrist cupping and getting rid of your flip, both things I struggle with. I've been mediocre to decent at golf most of my life, and will never stop trying to make that leap to really good. It's frustrating, and I probably am who I am at this point, but the journey is fun, even if maddening.

*Fully back in "don't bother me with politics conversation" mode. I just don't have it in me to care for years on end. I'm sure I'll slip up and engage every now and then on here, but I'm telling you now, it'll be a mistake, I'll regret it, and don't be surprised if I just stop arguing mid-conversation.
Neither of my kids have picked up the golf bug yet. My son has a nice swing and could probably pretty quickly get good at it if he wanted to. He did get a job at the course this summer though so maybe he will get into it a bit more.

Everyone wants to be Alabama right? 2 decades of mediocrity and then make the greatest hire of all time. It's a very reasonable expectation LOL!

My elementary school had Shepard's pie regularly. It was always a couple of days after meatloaf and mashed potatoes day. That turned me against the dish for life.

I remember that scotch egg moment, and we did do Bamb's that night after a few rounds at Flanagan's.
