Yeah, but Tony's and Ruby's are *completely* different. They only serve USDA prime steaks, the highest grade available in the United States, and only given to the top 3% of all beef. The coked up college aged server and his well rehearsed tableside sales pitch explains this to them every visit. It's what really sets them apart from the other 14,000 steakhouses in the country that order the exact same grade meat.

- If you needed extra motivation to shove an old person out of the way to get your shot, I am one of the lucky few who kicks covid and then gets parosmia and phantosmia. Some food tastes like ash and I am being haunted by the smell of stale cigarettes someone smoked in an uncleaned portajohn. Apparently the brain has to rewire the neurons affected by 'rona, and sometimes gets things a little out of order. Allegedly it's not permanent, but it is disgusting.
..
Yep. Me too. Tastes of burned soy sauce for me.

Certain tastes/smells of aeromatics like garlic, onions, ginger are just off... but coming back ever so slowly.

Anth... I work downtown and have patroned several establishments since the shitstorm last summer. I can honestly say that everything is pretty much back to normal. On several winter Saturdays you could hardly find a parking spot in NuLu and places like West 6th, Emmie Squared and La Bodeguita have been packed. And this is in the middle of winter and people still dealing with Covid restrictions and wearing masks.

Perhaps expand your pallet beyond Tony’s and get out some.

Look, if you don't have an assistant that's going to *also* be taking care of us tonight then GTFO.

So far, coffee hasn't been affected, but apparently that and garlic, onions, etc. are prime candidates to smell rancid after the rona. What a weird *** virus. Hopefully yours normalizes ASAP, you had the virus way before I did.

Lol at Anth’s futile attempts to distance himself from his COVID obsessive reputation. I can get you back there in the weeds in two words.

-louisvillians *constant* desire to build their city up in the eyes of others(by tearing down others) is both admirable and tedious. The gritty river town pulling itself up is a nice story. On one hand im always a fan of the underdog...on the other hand its a bit needy, if you will.

  • Recently watched two really good movies about the 08 financial crisis that flew under my radar in Margin Call and the Big Short. Both are incredibly well acted and equal parts entertaining and infuriating. Steve Carell and Ryan Gosling knock it out of the park in the Big Short.
  • I'm not even mad at the game Saturday. I'm just numb to it all now. Sad. I keep flipping on who am I most disappointed in Brooks or Sarr. Askew's season is basically like the cow being lowered into the raptor pen.
  • People who drive like maniacs piss me off but people who do cute unexpected things because they think they are being nice are just as infuriating. You got to your stop sign before I got to mine but you want me to go through the intersection first? Eff off.
  • 3 year old boxer mix we got in October is having surgery today because he chewed off a power cord of an old tv and pieces of it are probably stuck in his intestines. Love the little guy but man.

Oh, they mostly removed the graffiti and boarded up buildings to revel the empty store fronts? That's fantastic.

* Colin Castleton was in Hoosiers, right? Had to be. Can't wait to see that guy 3 more times next season. Yippee.

* Moving to a world class culinary city helped me finally realize that steakhouses are the BASIC ***** of dining. Look, I'm happy to put down a filet and go out the "see and be seen," but it's much more about the pomp and circumstance than the actual meal. Feel free to admit that.

* Can't imagine how awkward this conversation was....

Desi Vega apologizes to Black couple who was profiled, had tip auto added to bill at restaurant | News | nola.com

A Black couple had a 20% tip automatically added to their bill Saturday night at Desi Vega's Seafood and Prime Steaks in an instance of racial profiling that has prompted a public apology from the restaurant's owner and the suspension of two employees.

"I called the manager over to the table and asked if he had lied. He admitted that he did," Washington wrote. "He confirmed that he and the server prejudged us. Said he felt bad so he kept the lie going. Said he was in a 'precarious' position. Said he didn’t mean to racially profile us but his server asked him to do this to us so he went along with it. Said he was 'embarrassed and humiliated.' Promised he’d never do it again. Said they never did it before."

😂😂😂

Reads like a Curbed Your Enthusiasm episode.

* Davion Mintz truly has been the heart and soul of this team all season. Man, what a guy. He's the type that should have been a role player or the 6th man on a great team, not the best player on a terrible one. It's a shame we only got him for one year.

* Who was a more bankable star in the 80's than Jean-Claude Van Damme?

Top 5:

Cyborg
Bloodsport
Kickboxer
Universal Soldier
The Quest

* So I I post "I DO NOT OWN THE RIGHTS TO THIS MUSIC" on social media, it completely absolves me of all legal repercussions related to copyrights, trademarks, and all other manner of intellectual property, right?

Got it. The law is so easy.

* Daylight Savings Time is next weekend, y'all.

(confirm, anth?)

* Get pumped.

Man... Louisville got the shaft in the GYERO city draft when we traded Anthony away to Lexington and got nothing but a few years from PTI before he became a lifelong resident of NOLA.

Now we have to deal with Anth’s non stop Chevy Chase pretentiousness and have nothing to show for it.

lol....I liked the ponderosa post, and Catpaw popped up "are you sure you want to like this post?" lmaoooo. YES COMPUTER ***** I LIKE THE PONDEROSA AND I ALSO LIKE RENTING PHSYICAL DVDS, K?

Know what else I like? The first touch of "spring" when I pull out all my fine OPE, farr em up, and listen to those babies purrrr. Suck it, neighbors.

The lack of football talk is infuriating. KSR Clowns spent 30 minutes breaking down....Devin Askew, like we didn't know exactly what he was the first 5 minutes we watched him.

Meanwhile, thankfully, our Football Media Team is fn crushing it, and has me raging for SEC football. We got DUDES man. IT's unbelievable. Hoping for a complete JJ Weaver recovery because that dude brings something we don't have.

Little brother syndrome extends beyond their city's flagship university.

My sure fire hunch is your palate couldn't tell the difference between a Hostess Twinkie and the best beignet in French Quarter, so commenting about a fine piece of red meat from the best in the biz is laughable.

Spot on, Richie. I lived and worked all over the midwest for about a decade. Except for some very subtle regional things, every city not named Chicago is pretty much the same.

What's Louisville, Columbus, Cleveland's niche food? Cincy has the stupid chili, Indy has the stupid pork chop sandwich, and St. Louis has the delicious toasted ravioli.

My state pride is pretty much at an all time low so 80's Indiana comment doesn't really land like it used to. I mean, if Downtown Louisville is depressingly hopeless then perhaps you should consider the prospects for the rest of this dark & bloody ground. Take your tax money and shove it directly up your ***, Frankfort. JMO.
