I have woken up twice this week with Metallica's Whiskey in the Jar inexplicably stuck in my head. Stays there all day. I haven't listened to Metallica in this millennium. Until this week, that is. I've tried listening to it to get it out of my head but it won't go away.
Simple fix that was easily avoidable. Put on 'Kill 'Em All', 'Ride the Lighting' or 'Master of Puppets'. Let it roll stem -> stern.

You'll quickly jettison that garbage late 90's Metallica that was jamming with the fat guy from Blues Traveler and replace it with the way God intended thrash metal to be heard.

- I wake up with a song stuck in my head every day. Is that not normal? It's definitely not normal that one of the songs this week was a song about a dinosaur from a Wee Sings tape I absolutely wore out as a child, but anyway.

- Eugene Goodman definitely earned his way into the "He can't even walk right now" HOF.

- I'm pretending the team isn't 5-13 and that the season got covid-cancelled and reminiscing about the 2014 tourney run instead. While HATEMA is my mantra now, that tweak of the Harrisons switching jerseys or whatever was an absolute blast. Honestly, probably the most fun tournament run of my Kentucky fandom, even with the crap way it ended. F UConn, forever.

- So the "definitely not that heathen gambling" gambling legislation that went through is just to get Turfway's renovations up and running, right? Those were on pause because of those machines IIRC.

- Friday 5, covers edition

Brass Against--"The Pot" (Tool)
BONES UK--"I'm Afraid of Americans" (Bowie)
We are PIGS--"Duality" (Slipknot)
The Protomen--"The Trooper" (Iron Maiden)
Allegeaon--"Roundabout" (Yes)

I could feel anth getting confused and angry as I typed that.

You can also check out their late 80's shows in Seattle via YouTube. Specifically, Battery and Whiplash.

The Protomen--"The Trooper" (Iron Maiden)
That whole album has some wild covers. Heavy take on a 10,000 Maniacs lullaby, then a Spanish Mariachi meets big band spin on Clark's favorite from Rocky IV 'No Easy Way Out'. Plus the Cobra Kai season 3 closer.

Clearly they inhaled mountains of blow laced with Jack3d to pull off covers with such variation to the original and not totally suck.

Give me Bledsoe for Boston if were switching a player. This team needs some angry dawg and the ability to beat at least one position off the dribble.

Next week's forecast is freezing hell.

Had a service professional (independent contractor) in my house the other day. I told him he didn't have to wear his mask when he came in, at first he mumbled something about insurance. Then I told him I'd had my shots, and he got excited as he said screw it and took his mask off. He was legitimately happy about that moment of normalcy.

Business insurance is such a pain in the ***.

Been on more of a rock kick as I've gotten back into the gym.

Friday 5

Walk - Panterra
You Don't Know How It Feels- Petty
The Beat Goes On - The Kings
Possum Kingdom - Toadies
Killing In the Name - Rage

The covers of Mike and the Mechanics and "Because the Night" from that album are both outstanding. The "In the Air Tonight" ain't bad either.

-I like a spread collar with a half-Windsor knot. It's easier than a four in hand and looks better, imo.

-What r ThE Gas PRICES? Remember when that was a thing? Frame of history always has a thorn or whatever.

-BJ Boston sucks. His build and skillset puts him on a Brandon Ingram protectory. He'll never get close, but I hope he puts up some numbers and gets paid eventually. Seems like a good kid. On a macro level, he is the least of our worries. Cal and Clarke can eff right off for now, tho.

-Valentines plans? Cooking for mama is way more cost effective and thoughtful than flowers and candy.

-My favorite jazz rotate is Dexter Gordon records. @HymanKaplan @rudd1 , got any other recs?

-I can't wait for spring and vaccines.

-I used to chew RedMan. Does that still exist?

-Bota Box is a steal; box wine is the new table wine.

Jay Wright is great and all but he isn't coaching an experienced guard heavy team here so I'm not sure he would do much better with this lot.

Give me everybody's favorite hooper from Queens, NYC...Dorooooooon Lamb.

One player can't change this team, I just want a guy who can make a lot of threes, and perhaps more importantly during times like these, make very funny tweets.

Trade Devin and every other guard other than Mintz, so Cal is forced to play the only 3 guards we got...

Davion
Doron
Dontaie

That's a balling *** backcourt for a ****** team. We might win some games. Plus all those dudes are low key cool.

-Red Man Golden Blend was the go to for all night cram session. Buddy's dad worked at Pinkerton in O-Boro and used to bring cases of that ish back to the fraternity house. Sure it was out of date or something but free was free.

- Are people really still watching this team?

What was that Free Dip (via Kernel & Coupon Mint) that took over UK's campus circa 2000?

No argument against AD, obviously, but for me and this cast of characters I think PJ is a great fit.

No different than people than people thinking Ulis or Knight over John Wall.

PJ was not that cool, had little to no streed cred, and put a baby in Brittany Reneer.

Take Julius Randle. Baller. OAD. Way better version of PJ.

Rooster inserted free coupons into the Kernel. Several of our older frat bros would make pledges go pick up a huge stack on a daily basis, and drive around town redeeming them at various gas stations. Also part of the coupon, in addition to the free dip, was a raffle entry to a trip for 4 to Cancun.

So those dudes to this day have a lifetime supply of Rooster, and won 2 free trips to Cancun.

Not a bad gig.

The answer is Anthony Davis, for any team and any situation. He is a generational talent.

Take him off the table and I probably go Ulis. We are in need of someone that makes everyone else better because we suck so bad. He probably addresses our areas of need the most.

This is correct.

This is the correct answer. Don’t get cute.

As far as Ulis, he answers PG, turnover issues, outside shooting, scoring, leadership, making guys better, etc.
