That wasn’t a flex. I thought some places wouldn’t work on them. She has only ever taken it to the supposed only “Authorized” place in town and the price was a non-starter.

I’m legit only sharing in GYERO and doing so because I’m recognized as a leader around here and wish to promote public health awareness- which is necessary for some of you backwards dipshits. No offense.

It’s absolutely silly what a high % of old men in my industry wear Rolexes. Even the ones who really don’t make that much money but evidently want to pretend they do. So yeah. I guess you can drop > $10,000 on a watch and still look #basic.

Currently rocking the Garmin Fenix 5, fwiw.

-nothing wrong with owning a nice watch. Holds value...more importantly life is short/can't take it with you. Enjoy yourself. Same with vacations and such.

-never been a rolex guy...too ubiquitous for my tastes(i know im an odd dude, bite me)10 years ago they were making 800,000 a year...but while they are not "rare/exclusive" they are incredible watches. Strong and easy resale/Durable/built like a tank/great looking.

I think a nice watch is pretty cool despite the fact that mine is $90. Some day perhaps.

August-west, are you a watch repair person?

Wife dropped her Rolex a few months ago. She got the repair price from the authorized dealer and it was crazy (5K). They said it had to be shipped off to Rolex for the repair. No way would we do that.

With that said, she has had the watch since graduating college and it has a lot of sentimental value. Will non-Rolex guys repair?

I sent you a pm

Unsolicited vouch for @august-west -- dude fixed up my diver watch a couple years back. Haven't had a problem since.

*edit: also cleaned up my great grandfather's Rockford pocketwatch, too.

Deal in confidence.

Thanks, Geese. Getting that old pocket watch running and cleaned up is my jam. Love it when I can get an old family piece up and going again.

My wife also dropped her Rolex once and I accidentally drove over it in my Bentley.

@august-west fixed it up.

I still get a hearty chuckle thinking about that. You were definitely more worried about the Bent

@august-west ...can you work on jaeger-lecoultre? I have a master calendar that needs attention.

Nope, way out of my league

After he finishes my Patek.

Still waiting on a part

-not kidding. I also have a ulysse nardin maxi marine chronometer that needs servicing.

...unless he really is working on your patek.

See my above response to the JL

Took my watch to @august-west as well, didn’t know if he could get it back working because it’s a vintage watch but sure enough he did.

Watch/Clock repairmen are pretty cool, however.

August is the anti of the way they are portrayed in film - reclusive little miracle-working dudes grinding nonstop in a dark depressing space.

I picture him slamming Busch Light and ripping heaters while tinkering in between horse races.

-Xavier Pinson Gonna work us silly - dude is dope.

How many Rolexes does Anth have?

I splurged once on a Tag after a hot night at the blackjack table. It’s nice, I’m good. Jewelry isn’t really my thing. My phone tells great time.
1. White Face Date.

Wear my Garmin Venu on a daily basis. Copped that for free from Humana points.

I am 65. I registered a few weeks ago when registration opened for 1-C. Here, we are still barely into 1-B. I received a form letter that basically said I am registered, but not to hold my breath because it is going to be quite some time. I will be notified when I can get an appointment but it could be even a couple of months.

Apparently the problem here is we have some resources and systems set up to vaccinate, but can’t get enough vaccine. So yeah. 🙃

Go Cats. 😋

How about a little horse trading Mr essential educational personnel? 😉

I'm not a teacher. Just a network engineer. We are most definitely "non-essential"

The amount of money that public education wastes on useless technology would make your toes curl. Several schools are now purchasing every staff member Microsoft Surface Pro 4's

It's malfeasance and a decadent waste of tax-payer money, and that is just the tip of the iceberg.

Public Education, in it's current form, is one of the worst things to happen to this country.

Anyone that thinks Cal is gonna change anything is nuts. We’ve played 3 bigs the entire first half.
