Appears the robinhood app has removed trading options for certain reddit stocks... pretty wild. Not sure that is the right approach. That stuff will likely correct itself over time, but a handful of amateurs get rich and they pull the plug on them?

I agree with Bonzo wholeheartedly. If billionaire hedge fund managers get filthy rich using complex instruments to bet on the demise of an American company, we need to protect that behavior. But when a bunch of unskilled rubes buy a few shares here and there to inflate a stocks price, well, we can’t let them get away with this outlandish criminal nonsense.

I said amateur investors would be wise to be cautious and maybe take some profits and dial it back a bit while things are volatile, because Wall Street isn't going to continue to take a beating. They threatened to pull the plug yesterday and suspended trading, and they did so on select funds via Robinhood this morning.
And the SEC - the regulatory body of the Feds, isn't doing a damn thing about it and this is exactly what they are built for. So go ahead and take the call for more regulation and shove it, because the bloated watchdog we have now is a neutered *****. Anything additional won't be any more effective.

100% on team Reddit. And like I said yesterday, they're going to score a few Hedge Fund pelts, but unfortunately I don't think its sustainable in the long run. Not because I don't wish that it were so, but because of how the barriers to entry and regulations already in place are all designed to keep the little guy out. I'm not for it one bit, just calling balls and strikes how they come.

The SEC, in conjunction with Wall Street, the Fed and our distinguished elected officials (who's pockets are greased in all this) will write new rules around trading and thus, trying to prevent them all from losing their *** again.
In essence, they will keep rigging the game until they can't lose.

- Tate Martell is just the latest example of kids who would rather be recruited than actually, you know, grind and play ball. I get that the QB spot is tricky, because there can only be one starter, but still...commit to OSU, leave OSU, commit to Miami, switch to WR, switch back to QB, opt out of the season on the night before the season starts, transfer. And his two schools look like child's play compared to the number of schools some CBB players hit up. They just can't adjust to not being fawned over.
- Baylor....yikes. Talk about a bunch of guys who know their roles and buy in. And I realize they were playing Bruce Webber, but still....they're deep, physical, and can shoot it. And Drew isn't afraid to stick that 6-5 kid at the 5 and go completely small. Goodman (eyeroll, I know) mentioned Scott Drew as a possible Kentucky candidate a few days back, and while he wouldn't be at the top of my list, I also wouldn't want to see him at IU. If you can average 24 wins a season (over the past 13 seasons) and end up with one of the top 2-3 teams in the country at Baylor, there's no telling what you can do at a place that actually cares and has resources and recruiting pull.
Then again, he's probably been paying players this whole time, but it's whatever.

- Started "The Salisbury Poisonings" last night. Can't decide if it's gonna be a good watch because it's so timely, or a bad watch because it's so timely. Either way, I'm now at the point where I'm having a hard time making out British accents on shows. Same reason I've been a little slow getting into "Peaky Blinders".
- I have never and will never understand the stock market, nor do I care to learn at this point. Maybe later in life. I just nod my head when people talk about it, as if I know what they're saying.

Short selling is absolutely investing, but in a very risky manner with no theoretical cap on your losses. If someone gets rich off that strategy, then more power to them. Just don’t think expect me to support a bailout or a shed tear over your failure.

Subtitles are absolutely a must on shows like Peaky Blinders, imo. I've actually gotten to where I use them on most all shows at this point - you don't really notice after awhile, and you don't miss a thing. /old
I agree on Donovan, but I've seen someone quoted as saying that Stevens has said that Duke is the one job he'd leave the NBA for. Again, might be a pipe dream, but they need to take a swing.

Duke will be hard pressed to make a woke choice even if it involves hiring a guy with NCAA violations, like Capel, which is why Snyder won't be hired. Amaker has never really succeeded consistently at big time schools. Doesn't Woj have turnover issues? It's a tough choice because not one of them has stood out.

Seems like two of their three mission statements are being directly violated. So with all the resources at their disposal, they'd open trading back up immediately (turn those machines back on!!!) fine those platforms that limited access and revoke those hedge fund managers licenses. Wonder why that regulatory body is keeping quiet?

Subtitles are a must for all drama series and movies for me now because it's easy to miss ****. Plus, my girlfriend loves asking questions during shows/movies so I get distracted plenty.
I heard Stevens would only leave for IU so that tells me he's probably in the pros for good.
My biggest fault with watching a series is I don't learn character's names. Aside from the major 2-3 in a show, I basically have no idea and do nothing to remedy it. Sort of like real life, I guess.
Now hold on there Pilgrim. I never said it was better than Jeremiah Johnson, which is an all-time classic. And as great as it was, the real story of Liver Eatin' Johnston was even better.
I do this exact same thing. In shows and real life. It's pretty embarrassing in real life, and I can't for the life of me get beyond it. I'll remember someone's face forever, but their name, not a f*cking chance.

Speaking of movies and series viewing, I would be remiss to not proselytize about my projector screen in the family room setup. It is still amazing. And I would heartily recommend covering up windows (if need be) to find the wall space to accommodate one in your own homes.
Now, I just need to complete the shallow, built-in cabinet with a pair of tri-fold doors to hide it during non-viewing hours. Then we’re all set... until it’s 4k projector szn.

I’m absolutely horrific with names, like known someone for 3 years and can’t remember their name or have to say it in my head to make sure it’s right, I’ll remember a face for 3500 years.
My SIL uses subtitles when watching a show and after giving her all kinds of **** about it over the holidays I’ve realized how much dialogue I actually miss and also how often my wife asks “what’d they say?” And I have to rewind or get in an argument with her about it, so back to subtitles we went this weekend.
I don’t know any character names for current shows I’m watching. Queens Gambit? Not a single name, not even the main girl. Marvelous mrs maisel? I know mrs maisel. Succession? Nope. It’s kind of insane how horrible I am with names.
