Have long been jealous of power-nappers -- just something I could never do. If/when I do fall asleep on a hungover Sunday midday, I wake up thinking it's the next day or some ****, and then have trouble getting a decent sleep at night (which I struggle with anyways).

It was nice that Cal showed up showered and shaved for the LSU game. That was a shocking surprise. Look the part, be the part. We just might make the damn tournament after all.

Bama only getting 18% of their scoring on 2 point baskets for the year. Not a good matchup for this team that only pounds the ball inside and can’t create a shot. Hopefully Cal did the analytics on them or it’s gonna be a long night.

- If you can't nap, that's on you. After siring kids, the midday nap became commonplace in my home. Best advice I ever received was, "you better sleep when they sleep" and "don't wake a sleeping baby."

Getting home from church on Sundays and rocking my son to sleep in the recliner will forever be one of my favorite things about fatherhood.

Napping on a bus to an away game for about 10 minutes can really charge the batteries as well.

I contend that the older I've gotten, napping has become much easier.

- One of the ways to really piss off the traveling carnival folk that came to town every year was to cheat at their games. Pushing a dent into the ping pong ball with your thumb was a sure way to get it to "stick" in those bowls.

Untying a live pony that had to be separated from the crowd and letting it loose through the midway will also piss off the drifters . . . or so I'm told.

One year "The Law" had to come shut down one of the games as it was essentially Roulette with darts. They had a big square checkerboard-like backdrop. People would stand around the rail and slide a dollar bill under the color they thought the dart would hit. One person would throw the dart. 1 to 1 odds on the dart hitting a red square. 1 to 1 odds on the dart hitting a black square. 5 to 1 odds on if the dart would hit in the white margins. House wins all money if the dart didn't hit the board/fell off.

Just blatant gambling. A bunch of 12-16 year old kids standing around betting a quarter or up to a dollar with each dart throw.

Later into the evening, older individuals started playing and a bad fight broke out. Carnival workers vs. some of Monroe County's roughest. Turns out, the workers started using dull darts that wouldn't stick into the wooden board after a few 10 and 20 dollar bills made their way out of wallets. Some folks went to jail. Some folks were hospitalized. The federal government could have probably had a field day. Lots to investigate.

County Fairs in the 80s. Man.

- I can power nap like a champ in the recliner for about an hour. Wake up ready to roll. Love napping outside just listening to the birds. Comforting.
- Back in my UK days I would routinely nap at rest areas on the 10hr drive back home to VA. Jesus how unsafe is that.
- Double Dare. That was the ultimate dream of mine to run that obstacle course. Even got the home version, which was complete ****.

Would be neat for me to not have to listen to a bunch of all the sudden BAMA HOOPS fans, my wife included, blowing up my damn after kicking our teeth in, but yeah Bama -8 is the bet to make. That's probably low.

My aunt tested positive on Friday with mild symptoms. Family went over yesterday morning to deliver some food and meds and found her unresponsive. Got her to the hospital where she was stabilized somewhat, but her oxygen levels continued to get worse and once a bed came open in ICU she was moved in there and intubated. For the few minutes she was alert, a nurse let her speak via speakerphone to some family. So outlook obviously not promising, but hoping she gets lucky. I've known tons of people who got it and got over it, and by nature of my job I see list of folks who werent so lucky- but this is the first time someone close to me was impacted so harshly with it. Sweet lady- guess we can only hope at this point.

I like naps- I will try to sneak in 20-30 minutes when necessary. A lot of notable genius minds were big nap advocates.

I'd love to be able to take naps, but my mind isn't wired properly for it. I lay down during the day and all that happens is my brain starts racing until I'm worse off than before. If I'm able to lay down for 20 minutes without getting anxious, I consider it a huge win.

Sorry about your aunt. Harsh reminder that things are far from over. Hopefully she has a full recovery.

Think its only a matter of time before the large majority of us are going to be impacted pretty close to home- even with the vaccines it seems like there is a long way to go.

Our concern here is the overlap of additional groups being eligible to get the jab, intersecting with groups getting their second dose- and the supply running dry. Also the number of people eligible that are opting out (in my corner of the world) is pretty alarming.

I was at the rest area on I65 south in Bullitt County several years back and I must have appeared in dire need of a nap, for a kind gentlemen asked if I cared to come with him to his hotel room in E-Town.

-Sorry Clark, hopefully they got her on the therapeutics quickly. They've come along way with them.

-I mean, yeah, I can rock the little one to sleep and close my eyes for 20-30 minutes. It's not actual sleep, though. Hour, hour and a half weekend nap though, completely gone. Those were the real joys of a lazy weekend. It's like when I nap, my mind is worried about falling too asleep because I have **** to do or a short period to squeeze in a nap.

-Oh, so the guy living in Indian Hills and frolicking around LCC is giving me **** for being hoiploy? Gotcha. Ol' Salt of the Earth Brooks. May come to a surprise but I'm fairly certain those two don't even know my name.

-Congrats winter weather lovers. Got your pinnacle of great winter weather today. Absolutely DISGUSTING.

This garbage weather had me nostalgically wishing for the winter of 2014 when we had lots of pretty snow. Then I remembered if I wish for it right now, it will surely only fall on days where I am booked to be on the road next month.

My best friend's last living grandparent got the first dose of the vaccine, tested positive for covid and was dead within a week. She was ancient, but still. Cruel irony to get the vaccine and immediately die anyway.
