Stevens - thanks but no thanks
Wright - thanks but no thanks
Beard - yes, I accept

Boom, I guess? Its not that hard but Toast won't do that. He's probably looking at the pastor of that mega church off Blankenbaker Parkway as one of the lead candidates.

- I’ve seen some crazy **** in collegiate athletics, but Tennessee investigating and indicting itself for recruiting violations JUST to save buyout money is something else.

With the gift of a contract that Cal was given this would honestly be our best route if we ever wanted to replace him. We’d be set up for a miserable year and a full rebuild anyway.

Why in TF can’t wcc just suck it up and be miserable and pissed off and negative like the rest of us??

F that guy, imho. Totally ruining what we’ve built here.

I’m as pissed off as anyone right now, I promise you that.

Yeah- great idea. Tarnish our program and some great teams- totally F the relationship with the former players recruits look at.

Some of you are legit stupid.

The general tone and mood of this year has caused people to go full bore insane. According to Chase we need Cal to recruit “at least” two Kentucky kids? [eyeroll]

Listen, dipshits, all we need is some players to come back, that’s it. Richards, Hagans, Montgomery, Juzang should all be here this year. All we need is roster continuity. We literally returned 0% of last year (other than 3 games from Brooks). ZERO PERCENT. You can’t build a team like that, especially in a shortened clustertouch season. Anytime we’ve had upperclassman we’ve been good to great. That’s it. That’s the list.

Once everyone understands that, we can have more productive conversation.

It’s way more fun to look ahead on the schedule and start pandering for us to hire coaches we will lose to, and wcc handles this as well as Trump handles defeat so win/win.

Yep, bring back 3 of Juzang, Montgomery, Hagans, Whitney, Richards to go with Allen and Brooks and we have a top 10 squad. I don't blame Richards for leaving by the way. 3 years is plenty and he was mature enough to handle the grind at the next level. Same with Quick.

Years under Cal we returned an upperclassman that played major minutes the year before:

2010
2012
2015
2017
2019
2020

Were those teams good? Fun to watch? Richards was one of the last picks in the 2nd round. Hagans and Whitney and Montgomery undrafted, Juzang transferring. Now if that’s going to be the pattern moving forward and we lose 90% of this years team then it’s time for a major change culture wise, but if a lot of this team comes back we have a solid core.

Beard will probably be the Indiana HC next year. Would not be liked here. He emphasizes flopping and generally cant score points.

Two things:

1. firing Cal isn't happening. That's ridiculous on so many levels.
2. (I'll eat crow on this) Cal ain't just amicably walking away. Too much ego and $$.

Once everyone understands that, we can have more productive conversation.
I wouldn’t want Cal gone myself. I just think it was a crafty way to get out of the buyout.

I myself would rather dance with devil you do know versus the one you don’t. I also think Cal will adjust over the next few years. He’s a winner historically and has done this more ways than one.

- As far as staff, Lucas was big for recruiting. Dude’s an ace connected as much as anyone in the most talent-heavy state in the country.

- Speaking of Texas is really good this year because they start three junior/senior guards who were all bluechip recruits. It’s the year of the experienced team- probably a trend going forward.

Kentucky Basketball has always been a release and something to look forward to for Kentuckians to get through the long winter. The events of 2020 have taken much of that joy away. We lost the 2020 NCAAT, and we likely won't be playing in this year's version. So I get it. We are all frustrated. Turning over a full roster of players in the middle of a pandemic with few "elite" players? That's a perfect storm for disaster. But these kids come back, and add a few more to the mix, and I bet we're right back to 29-5, 2 Seed Chill.

I just don’t see running a high powered offense with freshman only:

Murray hit a wall
Booker hit a wall
Monk hit a wall
Herro hit a wall

Roster continuity has to come before you can complete revamp an offense IMO

I don’t think it’s as simple as continuity- although that would be huge.

Cal can’t be running in the 300s in three point attempts. We can’t be running ‘90s lineups either.
I think he will start playing this new transfer market, retain a player a two and look to bring in one or two signature one and done’s. Or that’s what I believe.

I’m sure he also hears the rumbles and sees how Saban adjusted, and I assume he will too. He’s also stubborn enough he will change on his time table and not ours.

I'm not ready for productive conversations just yet.

What's funny is this is the "deepest" team we've had since 2015, LMAO. It isn't in reality, of course -- but, that's what the box score & minutes say.

There hasn't been a good team in basketball history that didn't have an actual rotation or plan of attack.

Let's say Cal does go with "the lineup" that he hinted about, or that we want -- do you honestly think he will let them play together for the majority of a game, or more importantly, a STRETCH of games...to really settle in as a basketball team? I don't.

There is no way I believe Cal is down to earth ‘in person’.

I mean, I have no first hand knowledge so maybe I should just take wcc’s word for it. Although there may be a coach or 2 in here that have been to some coaching clinics who may have a differing opinion.

I suppose I could see him being down to earth like a politician kissing babies, but not someone who will drink a beer with you and talk hoops.

There's a reason Duke, UNC, and UK are suddenly out of the poll for the first time since the Kennedy administration. Old coaches coaching old basketball. If Cal changes he's the best possible option for us. If he does not change he is a bad option, he won't win big again, and almost any other option on that list has a better chance of getting us to a final four. Changing means everything.

He's earned the benefit of the doubt and we should bet on him to change, but that's the truth. If he doesn't change he's a below average coach because the system is more important than the name.

Yeah, no tournament in 2020 but I doubt that team was really going to truly break out.

NCAA tournament games have been trending towards **** with Cal since the Fox/Monk year.
2019
-Barely beat Wofford (6 pts) and only scored 62.
-Barely beat Houston (4 pts) and only scored 62.
-Loss to Auburn (team previously waxed) and scored 71 in OT....60 in regulation

2018
-Barely beat Davidson by 5. Scored 78!
-Waxed Buffalo by 20 and somehow scored 95!!!
-Lose by 3 to Kansas State and only scored 58 points in regulation.

Calipari needs to purge some of these assistants (looking at Justus, Barbee), update the offense, always fill out the roster. The program needs major innovation.

-thats the ******** of it. Boston *will* eventually be a good player. However because of the 1anddone crap...he/fans is expecting to be all world at 18yo. All but the *best* take time to develop. Its warped...and I hate it for the kid and the fans. This is Cal's culture...so he can soak in it*.

*not spite...all positive change is rooted in discomfort.

False. I’ve been to one and he has. I thought I’ve told you this before.

Granted, it was in Tunica and a casino/resort (2008).

And the other time it was just me and a few KY high school coaches at the Hyatt bar after he spoke at the KABC rules clinic. He strolled into the lobby bar (only about 12 total people there) and had one draft with his “driver” and a couple of Feldhauses. That was his first year here, I think.

I do wish Fulmer was a bit more exposed in all of this and really had to be shamed. As much as he accused (sometimes rightfully so) everyone else of cheating- for his program to go down by giving guys McNuggets and cash seems poetic.

FTR: I know that Cal will not be fired nor do I want him to be. But some of y'all saying if he'll just do this or just do that or change this and that need to get a grip.. The man has dug his heels in. What in the absolute world makes some of y'all think he's just going to stop worrying about ending generational poverty and bring the bulk of this dogshit team back and that'll just fix everything?

How many of you are potentially suffering from some form of stockholm syndrome?

You people are crazy

Zaga is trending in the wrong direction in the tourney as well then.
2019-lost to TT 75-69
2018-lost to FSU 75-60
2017-lost to UNC 71-65 (Zaga's only FF)
2016-lost to Cuse 63-60
2015-lost to Duke 66-62
2014-lost to Zona 84-61

They didn't crack 70 in any of those elimination games. Maybe they should fire Few.

The worst part of this Cal bs is the fact it's taking away from all the awesome football news.

Laim Coen is coming. Wan'Dale is coming. Bossmanfat teasing a return??? Some SEC guru ranked us 2nd in the east...AND WERE JUST GETTING STARTED BRO.

Spring practice will be here before we know it.

Kind of refreshing to see some basic old school cheating with a cash in a bag, tbh. No shady deals with high school coaches, runners, agents, etc. Nope.

"Hey kid, here's a filet-o-fish and $5k. Make sure you know how to work a fax machine."
