I mean, I get the argument it isn't brave for McConnell because he's entrenched in his position but Romney and McCain weren't exactly in Mississippi waging their arguments. Hell, I'd argue Romney would face pressure if he didn't stand against Trump.

The fact that he has the power to split this party overnight says a lot about the status of the Republican party right now.

I think the smart play is this:

1.) The people protesting what they viewed as police brutality were fine. The looters/rioters were vandals that should be arrested for their crimes.

2.) The people protesting what the viewed as a stolen election were fine. The rioters that stormed the capitol should be arrested for their crimes.

Anything acting like there's nuance that makes one circumstance better than the other is playing partisan politics.

We somehow have to find a way to get rid of the crazy *** conspiracy theorists. The acceptance of them in politics is saturating America with the absolute gutter trash of our country. People dumb enough to believe all of this **** need to STFU and let the adults drive.

10 times out of 10 I’d rather have someone in office that I vehemently disagree with on policy versus someone who is either (a) so profoundly stupid to actually be dangerous, or (b) pretends to believe in these conspiracy theories in order to suckle at the teet of their mongoloid base.

CLEAN IT UP AMERICA

So yes

How about you concentrate on that and let your antifa beef simmer on the back burner while we work through the aftermath of an actual ******* coup encouraged by the sitting president.

People burning down cities should be arrested and prosecuted.

People destroying public or private property should be arrested and prosecuted.

People breaking into the Capitol should be arrested and prosecuted.

People who shoot or assault cops should be arrested and prosecuted.

Cops who use excessive force should be arrested and prosecuted.

Politicians participating in insurrection/treason/sedition should be arrested and prosecuted.

People participating in peaceful protests should be left the f*ck alone. (Except Westboro, f*ck them)

That clear enough for you, *****.

This guy thinks a dude who has a "sickle and hammer" tattoo (it's a video game reference) on his hand is Antifa. You are the problem amigo. You are why we cannot proceed normally. You are why I'm up at 1 in the morning arguing about the future of our nation.

You are cancer. This is chemo.

Edit: Do you believe Sandy Hook was crisis acting to take your guns? That a basement pizza parlor is the hub of the worldwide child sex trafficking wing? Have you visited 4chan lately?

My own grandma thought today was a reckoning and my mom told her to stop being senile. And even grandma didn't say "paid crisis actors" so GTFO, HATEMA etc.

No doubt this was a planned gathering - they walked in line single file like it was a school trip - doesn’t take much effort to figure out - they have photos of 4 different Antifa regulars - this was staged for the optics so to blame all Trumpers - there is some really funny videos up showing how staged it was
Did some Trumpers follow Antifa in I’m sure but this crap was staged

Nah, don't ban, take your ******** level of crazy back to the political thread where you will be coddled like the child you are. The adults are talking in here and we agree that rioting and looting is not only stupid but should be punished by every ounce of the law.

I don't even give a **** that people are dumb enough to risk their lives over perceived racism (the numbers actually tell a different story) and election fraud (everyone but Trumpers tell a different story), I do care when people are stunned at the results of such action when it gets out of control.

Has anyone considered that had the riots from last summer been dealt with more forcefully, today doesn't happen?

We know not much is going to happen from today, legally, so will the next group of rioters be more emboldened? The likely answer is yes. I'm ok with making an example of some of these people from today if that is the national standard moving forward.

Chief, treat it like a vacuum dude. The police were quick to start striking BLM protestors/rioters (and in many cases, rightfully so) while mainly folding to the Trumpers today.

Kyle Rittenhouse walked up to police with an AR-15 telling them he'd defended himself and they let him leave. There's clearly some levels of reaction to what is happening in this nation, but that doesn't make any situation "more right" or correct than the next.

Let's do what Trump refuses to:

1.) Burning businesses is wrong
2.) Looting businesses is wrong
3.) Breaching capitols (Michigan had this problem earlier this year) is wrong

There aren't political teams for legality. Why is this a discussion?

Hey, you f*cking moron...you are too ******* stupid to realize how much you are hurting the side you think you are helping.

Make NO mistake...dumbass, mouthbreathing, "patriots" like yourself cost the House in 2018, the Senate, and now your Dear Leader.

You have no idea how many millions and millions are spent trying to keep away the Mountain Dew-rotted teeth stench of your kind away from solid, in it for the right reason, Republicans.

But you and your Q-f*cking brethren have destroyed the party you proclaim to be defending.

Seriously, f*ck you. Stop hiding behind patriotism, and start proclaiming this for being the feeble minded piece of ***** you are.

I think the dude with the horn hat could be an actor. I would like to see him in some sort of comedy or something. Perhaps in 10 years when he gets out of prison.

Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't Trump try to use the NG this summer and was shot down by local and state politicians?

Call it what you will but Democrats and the national media basically normalized the violence last summer. Violence that was political in nature many times. Think the crazy Trump supporters from today didn't see that?

At any rate, not here to rehash that. Let's set a national standard and move forward. Make an example out of the folks today that broke laws(and windows) and the idiots in Portland.

Trump wanted to use the NG anytime opposition rose. He used the terms "crush" several times, which led to some controversy from literally everyone in his cabinet and, especially, the states dealing with crises.

Conveniently for you, most of those states had democratic leadership to blame. And, in many cases, they should be blamed. However, you're conveniently leaving out the part where the President held a rally today to "SAVE AMERICA" and waited until after lockdown to condemn violence. If the governor of Oregon is OK with CHAZ, I disagree with them but I don't recall anyone actively advocating to attack their state's cities and businesses in the process.

Not only that, Trump's kids called today's rioters "Patriots" (Ivanka specifically).

It's harmful when Democrats advocate violence. I hated what happened this past summer and I think a lot of what caused those riots led to today's riots (unemployment, disapproval with the government's handling of this crisis, general anger, etc.) This isn't a partisan issue, but partisan's cannot be convinced of that.

^ They are/were attacking federal buildings.

What needs to come of this is the ban of protesting(peaceful or otherwise) inside federal buildings. This isn't the first time the Capitol has been overrun by protestors.

The media and social media are why we are here as a country. Not acknowledging good policies Republicans (Trump) did set in place and not acknowledging when Democrats (Pelosi and others) were out of line in their actions toward the Republicans are why we are here. The media has influenced the "pick a side" and "nothing is good from the other side" mentality.

You know what, Hank...scratch that thumbs up. I've read this thread for about 18 years. Started because I liked reading Wyvern during football szn. Its a great place to keep up with the events of the day in all areas. The last three pages provoked me to post a thought. I have posted less than 10 times in 18 years. I'm not a political poster, not even a general poster. Just a lurker with a thought. So therefore I will not gfm. Carry on.
