I don't think it's unreasonable or misplaced to think 2021 will be much better than 2020 because:

-Vaccines aren't just on the horizon, they're already here and we're already 2+ weeks into administering them. Soon every week will progressively get better as we vaccinate more people.

-We'll be past the holidays. When the second wave hit in early November, it was easy to write off the last ~7 weeks of the year, cancel schools, etc. because holiday breaks were coming up anyway.

-Hopefully people have had enough, leaders start to listen and it turns around.

If nothing else, we have hope and a light at the end of the tunnel, for the first time in a long time.

Yes, I'm a short-term grump, but I've always been a long-term optimist.
Plus, other than vaccines being rolled out, I think everyone's patience is just about over. Even the most ardent lockdowners are coming around to there being another way. 20s are going to end up being a ton of fun.

To hell with first responders, medical workers, and the elderly. The first in line for the vaccine should be the obnoxious, whiny *** Karens of the world. I hate for the squeaky wheel to always get the grease, but give it to ‘em so they can STFU and let the rest of us get about our business.

Man F that vaccine. I’m no medicalball, but everyone I’ve talked to in the last 2 weeks has told me the strands are mutating and what people have now is totally different than what was going around when the vaccine was created.

So good luck with all that!

What are you saying is not accurate?

My mom has now been on the Covid unit for 2 weeks. Out of fear for her health we have reached out to medical folks in Louisville and have the input from the facility in Paducah.

It is absolutely what we are being told, that patients today are coming in with different symptoms and a more aggressive virus than they had been even a month or 2 ago.

Sorry about your mom, that sounds awful.

#1. The new strains from UK haven't been found in Ky yet. Closest is Canada.
#2 The new strain seems to be more transmittable but not anymore dangerous.
#3 The vaccine will be effective against the new strain.

So pretty much all of it.

Sounds good, the day to day employees on the Covid units don’t really know what they are seeing.

Got it.

I’d let them know, but it’s probably best not to tell doctors, nurses and hospice they are wrong because my internet friends said so.

I’m pissed that there are apparently a shitload of new COVID strands floating around KY and doctors are not bothering to inform the public at large.

- The main thing 2021 has going for it to improve over 2020 is the KY Legislature taking away Dipshit Beshear's ability to unilaterally dictate how this state is run.

- That week away from the program must have had quite the impact on Fletcher.

- Christmas was mixed emotions. Had a blast with the kids and what family I saw, but on the other hand my mom ended up in the hospital with sepsis. She's improving now and hopefully gets to go home in the next 48 hours, but will have to go in for daily treatments the next few weeks.

- The snow for Christmas was definitely one of the years highlights.

- Bowl game on Saturday, I'm interested to see how Marrow does calling plays. It really can't get much worse than the 4 plays we ran all season.

- Home on parent duty all week. It's definitely harder to work with a kid asking you to play with them.

- My truck is starting to show some age issues, so I'm starting to look around at new options. I friggin hate dealing with car salesmen. If any of you slick, jive-hustlin, lowbrow automobile slingers want to try and sell me a nice used truck, hit me up (except for catfanbgky, you can GGP with your long winded posts)

- Proliferation of used rubbers at my rental property has halted since the camera went up. Hopefully they found a new parking lot to screw in.

- Tolly Ho for lunch, it's even good when you're sober

I'm no Dr, haven't even run this by the Dr/ lumber salesman/ bourbon distillery owner, but I believe I have heard that almost anytime viruses change, they become weaker. I'll wait for krazy to confirm, but I believe that is the case.

Speaking of leftovers, having an internal struggle over this last slice of prime rib from the weekend. Was supposed to clean it up after eating and drinking like a banshee all weekend. But..

Krazy, take a deep breath.

I hope your Mom continues to improve, but rest assured there is no new strain. And while people want to be visiting and “supporting” their family members, there isn’t a whole lot to do with visitation restrictions, so may be best to take some mental health breaks and stay home for awhile. It’s hard to hear, but the nine of you piled into hotel rooms aren’t doing anything for her recovery. Take care of yourself and your family.

Vaccine is a personal decision, but there is no reason to not get it based off this theoretical “new” strain, and as someone linked above, vaccine should still be effective.

Shorts:

- It’s been a long December and there’s reason to believe maybe this year will be better than the last.

- I mean, even when it was rolling, Cal’s gamble here had us living on a razor’s edge. It’s really really hard to replace 7-8 every year. You’re a missed recruit, bust recruit or injury away from disaster.

I think he’s tried building a bit differently but it’s tough to change your Mission statement.

I just wish he sold the Haganses and Montgomerys on coming back as well as he did the studs to come in.

- His offensive philosophy is a GD joke.

- Stoops I need this W something fierce.

- I’m generally pro-winter but that’s out the window this year:

* UK sucks and makes me want to puke

* There’s no cosiness to be found at bars, restaurants, friends’ homes.

* It doesn’t snow in NKY anymore. Can’t count how many times the last 5 years Lexington has good snow and NKY is sitting with our 33-35 degree dicks in our hands. W. T. F.

- When in the hell are those pieces of **** at Purdue going to finally drop the mocking and offensive Boilermaker nickname? Do these hardworking tradesmen look like that droop-faced dipshit caricature Purdue shoves out there each game like a tap-dancing pig to you?

- Oh no! Wife’s friend out of the blue with no discussion just gave her a small ornament for Christmas- now we have to scramble on Amazon to find a gift for her!!!! Oh **** wtf is going to happen to this friendship if the gift exchange isn’t mutual and roughly the same in both monetary and sentimental value??? Might as well just write her off and never talk to this generous friend again!!! Hey *****- here’s a December 28 pair of $11 earrings from a ******** boutique down on Fairfield. Glad to be friends!!!!

🤣. It is this sort of thing I'm looking forward to in 2021.

* 2020 has been both the longest and shortest year ever for me. I turn 40 in May, so maybe that is how every year feels after a certain age but time has never been this way before.

I remember going to Krogers in March when there was panic buying and it looked like I'd been transported to Soviet Russia. Feels like yesterday. It also feels like every day since has been the same monotonous blur where the wife and I have waited to see if she's going to go back to the office full time so we can make a decision about selling our house, etc.

Of all the odd things about this year, that's easily the one that will stick with me -- the sheer volume of changes that came so quickly and then the feeling of endless waiting to see if or when things go back to before.

Pretty obvious at this point that there won't be going back on a lot of fronts. I just hope that we start prioritizing in person interactions rather than everything being endless Zoom meetings.

I'm kind of jealous of my brother who is a contractor some days. It would be nice on occasion to have a set schedule where you interact with co-workers in person.

* I had completely forgotten about the bowl game, tbh. I do not care one bit whether we win. I honestly just want to see the players have a good time and go out on a good note.

The football program needs a new year more than any one because Stoops had us rolling and all the COVID problems made this year feel like an endless chore.

Totally different vibe than with basketball.

I like my football coach. I feel like I'm trapped in a loveless marriage with my basketball coach where I hope the fat sloppy ******* starts treating me like when we got together.

* Happy New Year to all you ****.

I hope the microchip they are injecting will give us some cool new superpowers. Ideally, I'd like it to give me the ability to fly so I can go check out the edge of the Earth and see what's on the other side. If that's asking too much, I'd settle for 5G in my veins so I can cancel Spectrum internet and just use my taint as a hotspot.
