Toppin and Boston both got their hair braided in the last week, unless there’s someone on the team doing it for them, (if there is my bet’s on Ware) they’re going to the barber.
And I’m pretty sure Cal could safely get someone to come cut his hair if he wanted. I doubt he’s rolling up to the Chevy Chase Great Clips for a trim.
Apparently my “American Pickers” comment from 2 years ago has aged better than a bunch of you all thought it would.
Does anyone have that pic of smug/skinny Cal at a table describing the DDM (lol) to us PEOPLE WHO ARE CRAZY using salt shakers and sugar packets?
I'm no basketball expert, but 3 pointers are worth 50% more points than 2 pointers.
-Yesterday game ended exactly how I thought it would. Comfortable win for a well coached veteran team. Only I figured they'd grab a big lead early and we'd be fighting back the whole game. Regardless, I knew we'd lose that game, terrible early season matchup for these guys. We're really lucky they shot 28% from 3 or it probably would've been out of hand earlier.
-Given we got a huge negative performance from Askew, I'm not really that down on the other guys. We've seen a lot of these type performances with Cal's PG early.
*Boston and Clarke aren't going to fall into that Diallo, Skal, Whitney range. They both look the part. Once we figure how to use them we should be good.
*Sarr needs to clean up those turnovers. Catch and either pass or make your move. Don't hold the ball.
*Mintz needs to play more. Especially early.
*Ware/Toppin offer very little right now. Especially when Brooks is back. They're projects.
*We needed Brooks yesterday and really moving forward. That Cayo dude attacked whoever was guarding him every time. Keeps from doubling or shadowing Sarr. Gives you 4 players that can score in multiple ways out there at once and if Mintz runs points all 5 are legitimate threats.
I still like the makeup of this team. The pieces make sense compared to the past few teams. We gotta get more from PG though.

*Mandalorian was awesome.
*Hillbilly Elegy was pretty good, if you hadn't read the book I'm guessing the storyline was choppy af. Don't think the reflection style was the best play. The acting was outstanding. That story just hits so close to home though that it had me near tears the whole time. Read the book first. Compared it to Moneyball, still a good movie but doesn't translate the point of the book.
*Christmas Chronicles 2. Pretty good.
*Leggo Star Wars Holiday Special, really good.
-G is all over Dude Perfect. Guess it's those TAMU trick shot guys. Appears they're doing pretty well with their YT fame. Better than Ryan Toy Reviews, that's for sure.
-My bread pudding was on point. Nailed it, tasted just like the Keeneland version.
-Ate my weight in junk food and booze, yuck. On top of not being able to work out. Double yuck. Drying out and cleaning it up this week.
-Nice to wake up to snow. Looked gorgeous. Bonus that the roads were fine.
-So... NYC, one of the most liberal places in the world, has fully open public schools. Kentucky, not so much, and we are now doubling down. Imagine the outrage if this were Matt Beavin making these unilateral decisions with no transparency on the stats. De Blasio changed his mind after complete outrage and rightfully so as schools have been proven safe. The people biting their tongue, or towing the company line because our douche is on their team, need to speak the f*ck up.

I hope so but I'm not so sure. We've shown for last few years that if we can only put one shooter on the floor we are really gonna struggle with spacing. Just seems like we'll be playing a whole lot of sagging man-to-man that is gonna continue to clog up the lane.
I left at halftime and listened to the second half at the gym while watching the Bengals lose on mute on the gym TVs. I didn’t feel as bad about the loss since I got something else accomplished. And thankfully the Bengals didn’t screw up and win a game. Big loss in the chase for the #2 spot.

Why did Devin Askew play 36 fn minutes against Richmond?
We got all this "depth", and you let precious lil Devin Askew play 36 minutes man. That's why I can't stand Cal. That's pure stupid. Devin might have dreams, and he might be a player 3 years from now, but he was way out of his league against Richmond and gave us nothing all night. Put in the Mintz kid!

As horrible as this team looked yesterday, it would not surprise me a bit to see us beat KU comfortably. That's just the way it is these days.
Mintz is a bum-*** senior with limited NBA potential (which is all that matters). His dreams are all dead and buried, so no reason to give him minutes imo. Not even sure I would let him sit on the bench - what if his failure rubs off on others?
At least none of them posted their ****** highlights on instagram yesterday. That **** absolutely kills me. Last year they were getting b*tchslapped by South Carolina and an hour later they'd have their one dunk/three reposted 7 times.

Mintz fouled a 3 point shooter, I'm surprised Cal hasn't asked for his transfer papers today.
That little ***** Francis kicked his legs out and fell down every shot. F*** him. Cayo, Burton, Gilyard were studs though.
Almost every 3 point shooting foul is questionable with all the flopping in college bball, that's why I don't get Cal going so nuts about them but it certainly is a pet peeve.

The cheerleaders are in the upper endzone just wasting away - it looks absolutely ridiculous everywhere obvs but their situation is completely illogical. If they're gonna be up in the rafters with zero access for acrobatics on the floor, why not bring the band in instead? A little pep brass accompaniment would go a long way to combating the current condition. JMO, Mitch.
The more things change, the more they stay the same. Our offensive strategy played right into their hands. If you're wanting to take the pressure of a frosh PG, maybe get away from the high pick and roll action 99% of the time and try moving the ball side-to-side with PASSES. I mean, make the defense work? ISO ISO ISO post entry feed to Sarr isn't going to cut it -- ever. No one screens away from the ball. Folks just watch the sole screener go to the top of key and wait. Zero movement. I understand wanting to sink or swim with the kid, but why bring Mintz into the program then? Thought he was kind of that stabilizing guard who could make good decisions and stretch the floor? Who would know? Think Mintz plays well against Kansas, tho.
Everyone loves Sarr and he is a nice pick and pop guy -- but he's got a lot of warts. Soft, keeps the ball low, seems to be in a hurry, etc... Wouldn't have minded to see a 'small' lineup with Jackson at the 5 and Fletcher playing rough and tough 4. He's active and athletic enough to make **** happen. Sarr was slow to react to a ton of straight line drives and is even slower to get off his feet to contend weakside. I'll give him some time for the dust to settle but I have some concerns. Better spacing offensively will be huge for him.
Surprised Boston is actually the one 'pressing' more than Clarke based on the reports we got over the summer/fall. Clarke seems to be a much more willing passer right now. The game will eventually slow down for both but I'd like to see Boston make the easy play, the right kickout, etc... Not worried about either.

We offered some token pressure but once they got the ball out of the corner -- that was it. Down 7-12 points or whatever late, you HAVE to speed up the other team and force the issue. Actually, the analytics software engineer Joel Justus' research clearly shows you have to maximize each possession, not necessarily speed up and risk making mistakes. It's science.
Our offense was so muddled yesterday it was basically, one cautiously thrown ill timed pass, and 8 eyes watching him try to beat his man. Young guys had a few passes deflected or stolen to over pursuers early in the 2nd and they tightened up. Big time. Those lazy passes aren't cutting it.
Mintz was in foul trouble early. 2 quick ones which included fouling a 3 point shooter to pick up his second in about 1:00 of action. That will normally take you out of the flow.
I didn’t watch a second of the game. Took my son to baseball practice and occasionally googled the score. Y’all can poo-poo all the “just don’t care anymore” takes that you want, but it’s a lot of us that just can’t get emotionally invested anymore for a variety of reasons. Unfortunately losing to mid majors in November and December is one of several. I’m sure we’ll be a top 4 seed in the tournament next June but for now Id rather watch 11u baseball practice.
