-Cancer is a motherf*cker. Sucks. What a way to go out, though. Obviously well respected by anyone that crossed his path. Beats UT in Knox while in rough shape. Cheers to a great man and coach.

-Pulls up ESPN+ and has 4 channels dedicated to live Masters coverage. 😎 Augusta looks amazing.

-Imagine being an amateur paired with Eldrick for round one at Augusta.

-Larry Mize early leader. Lol.

-Mentioned him before but love listening to Steve Rinella, even though I'm not a hunter at all, his most recent podcasts dives into Forrest Fenn Treasure Hunt. I had no idea this was even going on. What a strange story. All of Rinellas stuff is great, he's got that Mike Rowe down to earth introspective vibe. Although, I think he's much better than Rowe. He was also on Rogan again recently, which are always great listen, because he's not scared to call out JR.

-Couple pick ups for the cooking game yesterday, 19 x 11 griddle for the gas range and some dry age bags for steaks. Think I'm going to start aging a rib roast asap for Xmas.

-With current news, got me thinking of Christina and Brittany hitting the scene. Shew. Amazing time to be alive. That X Maxim photoshoot ftw. The female pop game is just trash these days.

-Fire Pit season. 🔥

I've basically absorbed everything I can about the Forrest Fenn treasure over the last ~5 years and am still not sure if it was legit. A recent medium post by the self proclaimed finder says he'll put it up for auction soon, so time may tell, I suppose.

In a related story, last year I was working on a project for the City of Austin (TX) and stumbled across an 1886 O Morgan Silver Dollar in a stream bed. If pristine, would be worth ~$150k-350k per my Google efforts. Pretty rough shape though, so it's closer to $20. Oh well.

Just updated my grilling set-up. Been eyeballing kamado/ceramic grills for some time, but came to the conclusion that I don't slow cook enough to justify the investment.

I've been cooking on a Weber performer for a while and love the gas ignition with charcoal. Added a griddle (blackstone 36") to the tool-kit. Basically bought a $250 grill solely for smashburgers  .

What is that pork belly recipe that floats around here that everyone loves? @drxman1 and @rudd1 post about it if I recall correctly.

Maverick Henley now popping up in my facebook feeds, thanks GYERO.

Speaking of is there a local place that sells these?

- Sucks about Schlarman, surreal.

- Anesthesia effects people with dementia something awful. Also surreal.

-Fazoli’s for lunch, handed me a cleaning wipe to wipe my card before taking it for payment. Shew!

- Will we even play Saturday? Being serious.

- Excited about decorating the house for Xmas. Kids are happy for it as well and it’s something we haven’t gotten to do yet with or for them. Neighborhood life is not so bad.

- Might my 2 dusty 1980 bourbon bottles today, so when is the GYERO bottle share?

Buck Mason and Everlane both make a good henley (and t-shirt) if you want to avoid looking like Dan Wolken or don't want something that loses its form after two washes.

Interesting story to say the least. Should be interesting to see how it turns out. Seems like it's trending toward being true-ish. Maybe the family forced the find, still neat though. Anyway, listen to Rinella, he's wildly entertaining. I could listen to him talk about the most boring subject in the world.

-Bacon, smash burgers, stir fry, sear, etc. Made it a great idea. This a steal sheet, fits perfect over 2 burners on my range. Can't wait to season it.

-Searing, I'm still a grill/open flame sear fan. Little more work but you can't replace that slight smoke flavor. Especially on a well marbled cut. Open flame charred fat just hits different.

Baking Steel Griddle ftw: https://bakingsteel.com/collections/griddles

But if you're just searing <2 steaks/meats, it's certainly no better than a ripping hot cast iron. Throw that MF in the oven (or grill) to preheat on Max for an hour or so if you wanna really get silly.
I have a Lodge cast iron griddle. I can get it to 550 degrees in my oven, or about 800 with two burners hitting it in the range or grill.

A regular 10" CI skillet isn't big enough for two steaks unless they are filets. You can crowd the pan and get a couple of ribeyes in there, but it affects the sear.

The Lodge griddle is about $50 too, which wins on price value.

If he’s in the hunt on Sunday, given the weather forecast, don’t be surprised to see the debut of the red Nike dry-fit henley

The Weeknd is apparently going to be the Super Bowl Halftime performer.

I suddenly feel much older and out of touch.

Listening to the Rinella podcast now. Mostly regurgitated stuff from other stories/articles over the years. It's still good though. I looked at the youtube channel of the people Ben Wallace profiled in his article a few days ago and 😂. Let's just say he has a way of normalizing these folks in his profile. And their "proof" of the solution is even more 😂. These are the kind of people who go full-on conspiracy theory, like a nerdy, harmless version of Q-anon wackos. Lie-detecting video analysis software and bronze sniffing dogs... smh.

Hope the treasure is real though.

Noted Kroger man, bub. Fresh Market is my mistress, admittedly.
Fresh Market is legit but as a lover of all things local, surprised you don't frequent Kingsley's or Frank's? Find their quality a notch above, choice niche game available and their grilling / smoking tips on point.

* there's only one rube who's taken a shot at henley's and he wears 5" shorts and runs for 36 consecutive hours. So, yeah.

* good call on the cast iron griddle. that lodge is in the cart.

* SC game is marked for a live appearance. Be nice if they could accommodate with a decent time or you know, actually play it.

* Everyone raves about Nirvana unplugged and rightfully so, but for my money this session and band overall >
