Return of The Pres.
Last practice run on a Turkey this weekend. Doing a bourbon brine, and while the regular smoked Turkey with a poultry(apple/honey) dry rub was very good, I am pretty excited about the brine.
Water, Kosher Salt, Butter, Brown Sugar, DH 122.6 Bourbon, and Honey.
Just got the bird submerged, and wait until tomorrow now.
- Sad note, my stepdad had his surgery yesterday and the days leading into it after a court hearing and a lowered B12 he has just been down and depressed. Barely getting out of bed etc.
So after surgery, he hadn’t woke up before my sister was forced to leave. In confusion through the night he tried to get up multiple times, tore his bandage off and was in general extremely irritable, understandably.
Moving into today his first dose of PT and the guy turned pale and flat passed out.
F’ing stressed to the max on this one. He isn’t my dad per se, but I’ll be damned if he isn’t the best man my mother brought to my life.
My wife who has YEARS of experience on seeing “setbacks” doom dementia patients and accelerate their demise.........and this one has me worried.
Watched my granny not make it back from a very simple surgery, and being that I can’t be there to give him a little **** to make him feel normal and ok for motivation just kills me!

Bagel Bites are an abomination. I’ve touched on this even recently. Cool as a childhood memory, but Absolutely disgusting as an adult. It’s Literally ketchup & 3 dots of “cheese”.

It is all in how you cook them. Middle of the oven, few degrees under called for temp. perfect, no burnt bottom and raw center. I mean that is almost like saying a GD pizza pocket / puff is better than a deep crust pizza. Pretty simple really, topping are suppose to be ON the crust, not crust wrapped around toppings.

Gonna hit you with the KO blow, pizza rolls are too rubbery and taste nothing like a crust, not to mention they have a ingredient called Zinc oxide. Yeap, the same ingredient in touching sunscreen (no wonder they suck). Only people I know who favor rubbery, plastic after tasting pizza rolls over a properly cooked bagel bite are ones with no taste buds or kids.

Zinc oxide is a common food additive. The fact that it's also used in some sunscreens means nothing, unless you're a simpleton.

I have kids. They eat both.
My vote is for Bagel Bites if they are cooked in the oven as mentioned above. If they are microwaved, it’s all pizza rolls.
Edit: my mom only nuked my bagel bites growing up. Looking back - and after cooking them properly - I think this may have been close to child abuse.

I’m not turning my nose up at pizza rolls. But they are kind of like a McRib to me. I think it’s gonna be awesome, but I’m usually disappointed in the outcome.
I gladly suffer the third degree burns on the roof of my mouth from pizza rolls, so they get my vote.
The combination party pizza might be the best value in the freezer section. I have a few of those things a year. Bonus points if you dress it up with extra ingredients from the fridge.
Here’s what is wrong with Pizza Rolls. They were created by the same company who made the Jeno’s “Crisp” and “Tasty” frozen pizzas, which was a much inferior product compared to the Totino’s Party Pizza. Somehow they have kept some of that Jeno’s taste after all these years. They’re OK.

- It’s amazing how hot moms are these days. When I drop off or pickup my 2 year old from daycare, it’s just a yoga pants WOW. Moms didn’t used to be this hot. Of course I’m 38 and many of them are 28, but hey, I’m accommodating.

Friday night is pizza night at the Mehico household. Went to Costco and bought a bulk package of the kirklands thin crust pepperoni pizzas and tried them for the first time. Shewee looks like I’ve discovered what my kids are eating for the next 10 years. Gave my kids a slice each while I ate 6. Everyone dipped their crust in kens steakhouse ranch, as a classy person is want to do.
This argument is moot without acknowledging Red Baron French Bread Pizza as the superior pizza-like after school snack. Don’t @ me.
Red Baron also had the best tv commercials. Remember when the Baron himself would show up and seduce some unsuspecting mom in her kitchen over a tray of piping hot za? That was the golden age of television.
