- Stoops isn't replacing Terry or AJ. It will cost him games this year. This is the way.

- Sick of replay in sports. The NBA is full of flopping that is constantly reviewed for "hostile action", the NFL had a fumble yesterday clearly recovered by the back (Josh Jacobs) that they gaffed and, generally speaking, the refs from Saturday that overturned Rod's TD can EAD.

/politicalrant

- The Trump story isn't damning because of $750 in taxes paid, the middle class gets stiffed there and we all know it. Since UKO won't look at it, I'll elaborate. Dude took his only income machine (which he inherited from daddy), Trump tower, and leveraged it to payoff trash debt on things like Trump University, Trump Steaks and half of his golf courses. Not only that, it didn't get him out of debt. He's got half a billion in loans coming due by 2024. That's half his supposed net worth. Successful inheritor? Sure. Businessman? Haven't seen anything to prove that.

- This economy is based on tax incentives, low wage jobs and corporate socialism. Has been for quite some time now so it isn't Trump's fault. If you want true growth (both GDP & Wages) you need to go back to Reagan/Clinton and look at how they tax, spent and cut. People forget that about Reagan, he did raise taxes while bringing more people into the fray for paying taxes. That's why it worked.

- Final thought - Eisenhower's warning about the military industrial complex has been hella accurate. The way we subsidize entire industries (cough Lockheed cough) is problematic for a litany of reasons.

I’m not going to get mad at Touchdown Terry. He is what he is: a product of an offense more aligned to 1990 than 2020.

- Stoops not taking off the "read" by Max Duffy before he was punting and tried the fake is a lapse of communication and just another example of how Stoops sometimes makes poor decisions or forgets where he is in the game.

- Smoke only getting 7 or so touches is criminal. AJ Rose isn't the answer at RB...do better Gran.

- If Drennen is as explosive as he was supposed to be, why didn't we use him in the slot or on a couple of jet sweeps?

- Wilson is still rusty, but hopefully they have a package for Gatewood (when and if he gets cleared) that's not too vanilla.

- The defense played "okay", but I would still like to see a bit more creativity on that side of the ball in regards to blitz packages, coverage, etc.

- With that said, I'm excited about this football season. I still have the Cats at 6-4.

Unless i'm misinterpreting what the SEC office is saying about Gatewood- he's not gonna be cleared until next year bc of the inter-conference transfer rule. Is that not accurate?

Went up to hippie country in Orange Co NY and took fam for some groovy apple picking, exotic hippie oil soaps/crafts/candles. Live outdoor barefoot Dead cover band playing at the farm.

Nice weather, pie making...

Needed to escape my football nightmares.

To paraphrase Sankey - he is open to look at it, but the rules are also in place and he asked that the AD's try to make a change to the bylaws. The main argument against his is that we are in a "different" time due to COVID and the NCAA has already cleared him.

The fake punt was so strange. Not sure how many times that i wanted Duffy to run it as he would sprint out to the Rugby style punt with no one in sight but on to punt it. That one was run all of the way. So strange.

Lots of complaints floating around and I understand and agree with most, but the only one that really mattered was the turnovers. I don't know if we're the team that outrushed and outpassed Auburn and completely owned time of possession or the team that spotted them over a thousand points. Could still go 7-3 or 2-8 and I have no idea which is more likely.

I had a sneaking suspicion that all of the preseason talk of Terry's improved confidence and decision making was forced. Still bought in tho.

Darin Hinshaw : QB development :: Scott Rigot : Overseas Recruiting

Liked what I saw from Akeem Hayes. Seems like our speediest. Had a nice highlight in camp too. Hope to see some other young playmakers get a touch or two on Saturday. Tisdale, Drennen, McClain. Like to see what Devonshire can do in the return game too.

Secondary wasn't bad as most are making it out to be. Most of the big AU plays were a result of mismatches. LBs and DEs in coverage. Tip o the hat to Malzahn, Morris and Nix for creating and exploiting that. Plus nobody is locking down Seth Williams. Star.

Can the raffle be entered without a FB account? Bailed on that festering heap half a decade ago.

UK doesn't win this Saturday, I'm rooting for COVID.

Taking some PTO time on Thursday and Friday as my kids have their fall break. I'll be grilling and smoking through Saturday.

Having people over for the game. Perfect weather to raise the phantom shades, open the doors, and have the TV on outside. Shew...already excited.

Best O-Lline in a long, long, long time and the call was a pass? KISStoops...hand that **** off.

A really good read here about James Baker. LMAO in particular about this bit:

Baker preferred to make deals using carrots rather than sticks, but he wasn’t above using his power to bludgeon those who dared to cross him. Even if it took him years. In 1986, amid complicated negotiations that yielded the first sweeping tax reform in a generation, Baker, then the Treasury secretary, took time out to figure out how to exact revenge on the Houston Chronicle for endorsing his Democratic opponent for Texas attorney general eight years earlier, in 1978, in what ended up being his one and only effort to secure elected office in his own right. The Chronicle’s decision not to back Baker had nettled him for nearly a decade. He took the opportunity for retribution by using the tax bill to force the publisher to give up control of the newspaper. The Chronicle was owned by the Houston Endowment, a charitable trust, and under a 1969 law, nonprofit organizations were required to sell newspapers on the theory that the nonprofits were unfair competition for private-sector businesses. Publishers were given 20 years to divest themselves, and with the deadline approaching, Baker stepped in to eliminate a provision from Texas Senator Lloyd Bentsen that would have exempted the Houston Endowment. As a result, the endowment was forced to sell the Chronicle in 1987 for $400 million. “Did I get them back or what?” Baker told us when we asked about the move. “I don’t believe in getting mad. I believe in getting even.”

IIRC we had to pass because we were out of timeouts and couldn't get another play in if we got stopped by the refs again.

34 seconds on a dead clock. The fear is not enough time to get the kicking team lined up and set, but IMO you sweep that ball outside, and if it doesn’t work you reset and run it up the middle again, no FGs from the 1 in that kind of a game.

That INT was a helluvaread by their DB who came off his man to drop down on the underneath WR.

That said, sure the TD was missed, but damn that no call face mask on Terry was ridiculous and the LBer from Auburn wasn’t even trying to hide it on top of the pile. Blatant AF.

I was in Houston for work about 6 years ago and went to dinner at some Italian restaurant in the Galleria area. Place was basically empty except for a table of 8 middle-aged women, a group of Secret Service agents, and a table with George Bush Sr, Barbara, James Baker and his wife. Bush was flirting with the table of ladies, but Baker was the slick one; looked sharp and was working the room. Just had a great presence about him.

Bill Clinton, Barack Obama, and Joe Biden are rich simply because they are politicians. None of them have ever been responsible for running a company or employing people in the private sector.

But yeah, Donald Trump is clearly the bad guy here. Dude isn’t a saint, but let’s be clear when we are comparing apples and oranges.

I’m so ******* sick of this political ********. I think Biden and Trump are terrible. Harris isn’t far behind. Fake phony ********. All of it. And now we are in a giant game of chicken across this country with coronavirus, racial division, Supreme Court appointments, etc.

I enjoyed this weekend because I watched a lot of football. It was fantastic. Made me forget all of the crap we’ve had to deal with the past 6 months. At the end of the day, we all just want to feel normal again.

In closing, football is awesome. Sports heal.

-Terry fires the ball into the stands and then you line up the FG. Now it was a poor decision to run Terry up the middle the play before, then compounded when Terry threw up an awful pass, BUT they had to throw the ball there. We shot ourselves in the foot twice(Fumble/Punt) and got screwed once. Also, Auburn had the best playmaker in the game by a good margin. Other than that I thought we looked like the better team for at least 50% of the game. D looked good, OL looked good. RBs, in their limited touches, looked good. Get some of those young guys some reps.

-Melted American Cheese is fantastic on everything.

-Sports flying all over the place is slowly pushing things back to normal. The corona lovers are fighting a losing battle. Sorry your 8 month staycation is coming to a close.

-Reds, didn't see them going on a tear and taking the last 5 series against some solid teams. Let's have some fun.

-Hey, at least the Bengals didn't lose. Progress.

-Ruby's on Friday night with the 'rents. On point, per typ. Great to see a live piano player back in there and I heard Robbie was on stage again in Louisville. Awesome news.

-On a workout tear lately.

-Jullian gets his Rainbow Stripes. Well deserved win for his Palmarès, he's a worthy champ. So full of panache in a peleton of boring riders. Big fan. Giro stats Saturday. Fleche Wallon on Wednesday.

-Saw a homeless guy taking a **** on my ride last night. Just right off the side of the trail by BCTC dropping trow. He looked content though, so you gotta respect it.

-Skirt steak tacos. 😎

There are a million things to hate Trump for.

Being creative, or even dishonest, in order to pay as little in taxes as possible? Lmao. I WOULD NEVER DO THAT, and nor would any good American! [eyeroll]

-Guarantee Wayne scoffs at a simple, classic, diner/smash American Cheeseburger.

His go-to is probably something like: 1/3lb custom blend (short rib, brisket, chuck), w/ Tomato Confit, Bacon Fig Jam, Roasted Cipollini onions, Smoked Gouda, topped w/ micro greens on Brioche.

Clown.

What’s the anti- rack? Because I don’t how you can be a working class or middle class American and think to yourself “totally cool that I paid more in taxes over the course of my working lifetime than the President of the United States.”

You must be doing well though - congrats!

"Mr. Trump paid alternative minimum tax in seven years between 2000 and 2017 – a total of $24.3 million, excluding refunds he received after filing. For 2015, he paid $641,931, his first payment of any federal income tax since 2010."

Amazing how politicians(and media) get their sheep to focus on the person taking advantage of the system they have created. Maybe the people that have created the system are the problem.

- The important takeaway from the story is that it didn't have the big gotcha moment the left thought it would have in regards to Russia.

That's very unfair. I'm a huge fan of a simple, classic, diner/smash American Cheeseburger.

You almost nailed the second part though. My all-time favorite meal is a 1/3 lb custom blend Bacon Cheeeseburger with the cheese being either pimento or white sharp cheddar. Definitely on a Brioche. Not a fan of any kind of Confit or Jam however. Pair that with a nice bottle of Merlot and I'm a happy camper.

EDIT: Grass fed, organic beef sucks and should not be part of that custom blend.

BTW, I have nothing against a classic grilled cheese with American Cheese on regular old white bread. However, I think the recipe can be improved by multiple varieties of cheese and the use of sour dough.

If the returns are legitimate (based on NY's law about releasing private info when under investigation, it very well may be) the fact that he only paid $750 in 2016 isn't the bomb shell. It's the fact that he's sold himself as a great president and leader because of the businesses he's "made" and profited from. His tax returns show tremendous loss (not surprising, Smoking Pat could probably do that for him) but also completely ignorant leverage that no business person would legitimately take on.

Again, I'm not arguing Biden/Obama good > orange man bad. I'm arguing that the one thing people default to when you point out the fact that he's a lying, narcissistic, feeble minded president is that he's an outsider who ran great businesses. For some reason, that qualifies you to be President. I don't buy it. Nor do I buy a Biden presidency benefitting this country any differently. If anything, I think I won't have to hear from, or about, Biden for the next four years, a welcome reprieve.
