Supreme Court says no to the insta-racing machines in unanimous opinion. Big financial blow to the tracks using those machines.

Poor wording on my part, I was more speaking to the notion that 80 mentioned earlier. What often starts out as a broken tail light or a noise complaint or any multitude of benign issues ends up in tragic death. Which can largely be attributed to the wealth of power at an officers disposal.

The point I was attempting, and failing, to make was that we like to judge the victim or officer (depending on view point) for something in their past that had nothing to do with the situation rather than consider the alternative. As if the officer went to that apartment door to kill someone because he's a raging racist or breonna was at a table counting 50 stacks of drug money when shot.

It only serves tk muddy the waters. The important facts are whether walker was justified in shooting through the door (lack of arrest seems to say yes) and whether the police were justified in shooting back (they were). The only thing left to solve is if they should have even been there to begin with, and I hope we do.

People get killed by cops in broken taillight situations usually because someone hates or fears cops in general going in and they can't control their emotions, words or actions at the encounter. Couple this with sometimes nervous or incompetent cops and there you go.

Good and accurate assessment.

I do NOT sell drugs nor have I in my adult life. BUT, as a poor kid growing up, I did. I knew what I was getting into and the problems it could cause I was always carrying a 9mm because of it). I will preface this by saying nobody deserves to die for dealing drugs. But if you are in the game or hang out in those circles you know that there are dangers that come with it. One of two things will eventually happen if you stay in it long enough. Dead or in jail. There is a really good chance the police will come to your door and big time dealers know it and expect it. When you are all ready knee deep in it and no turning back, you will do what you have to so that you do not end up BACK in jail, even having stand offs with police. In that environment if something does not happen with the po po, you have a chance of drug addicts or rivals kicking in your door and robbing you of your supply. It is a dangerous game and eventually you lose. There just are not any happy endings with it, unfortunately she was with the wrong people and hanging with hoods that where truly "about that life." I am very sympathetic for her, but it is not like she was hanging out in the library or having movie night or Netflix and chill. Cops raid drug houses in the early am hours to catch the suspects off guard and holding, no surprise it was late night / early AM. They are not going to call you ahead of time and say "hey guys, we have a warrant for suspected Big Time crack dealing, we are about to roll thru in about 45 minutes to a hour. Don't say we didn't warn ya."

People don't like me when I tell them they can't get a mortgage or that their investment is losing money, I don't get to even be rude, much less physically abusive. Cops can literally beat both of your eyes shut over any conceived notion of resisting arrest. That's wrong and should be treated as it is, excessive.

That being said, it's an incredibly thankless job that is barely above minimum wage for most and is pretty dangerous. We should train them better, ask less of them (they shouldn't be cops, parents, counselors, drug specialists and everything else) and give them the support they need to do their job well.

Seems like Skyyyyy's tune changed when we jumped into the ring for Hunter Sallis. He wants to be the guy in whatever class he ends up in, and Cal didn't want to be left holding the bag without a lead guy in the 2021 class. I assume he'd take Skyy in either class, (ir)regardless of whether Sallis comes, but I also assume that Skyy may not want to share. One goes to UNC and the other comes to Kentucky, IMO. He may just be snagging the spot while he can.

Correction: I put the blame on the normal dude shooting at police officers

You effing idiot, this isn't a multiple choice test you get the opportunity to retake right after you mindlessly screw up your first attempt. The really frightening thing is you still think you're right.

I don't always follow the preaching of Jimmy V but I do think it's a good idea to let your emotions out every once in a while. Show me a video of a soldier surprising their kids and you're guaranteed to get a tear out of ol' Irish Beck, every damn time.

Yep. I spent some time yesterday watching those "On the Road" CBS Evening News segments by Steve Hartman. Did my heart some good. Highly recommend.

Don't want to out him or what his position is, but I'll say he definitely is 100% privy to this information; a close friend told our group text that the Supreme Court's decision today will result in at least 3,000 jobs, $100m in wages, and $5m in tax revenue lost. I was blown away by the number of jobs lost, had no idea the industry employed that many people . . .

Legislators better be prepared, going to be a crazy session in an already crazy time.
