:: Even my ultra COVID cautious, high risk category wife thinks it's OK to trick or treat, so of course it will get mucked with to Hell and gone.

:: I don't know about you, but if our guys come out on the plus side of a 10 game SEC schedule with the reward of playing either UC or UofL in the post season that's kind of a downer, right?

:: Maybe it's just me, (yeah I know it is) but instead of a medium middle finger to state and local officials I see the NFL playing games as a result of two sides coming together to get **** right. Players and owners came to a quick consensus on a modified collective bargaining agreement; preseason with no games; no consequence opt outs; adjusted IR processes; and COVID testing, quarantine policies and operations. They did all that and still kicked off the regular season on time. Two thumbs way up.

:: I miss lazy summer afternoons when WGN rolled into Steve Stone and Harry Caray right after the Grand Prize Game.

Early dadlife stuff I’m enjoying:

* late nights to myself
* ignoring open container laws on neighborhood walks
* easy listening music such as Phil Collins
* claiming how “advanced” my girl is for basic achievements including bowel movements
* any stroll involving the bjorn
* earnestly discussing where she got various physical features, “Yep, she’s got Aunt Agnes’s wrists- no doubt about it.”

excellent list

others to come:
- taking turns sleeping in and how good/normal it feels
- exchanging sympathetic looks with another dad when your kid is losing it in public
- buying the expensive liquor because you don’t get to go as hard in the paint nearly as often. Quality > quantity
- busting out hobbies from 10 years ago in the name of “staying safe”. Buddies and I play a few hours of call of duty warzone a couple of nights a week in the name of “bonding”

Congrats pal. Dad life Chad is the perfect new spin on an always elite poster.

NW50, yes I’m still alive! I only turn 110 in February. Traded her in for a newer, better model too.
I heard you were getting pumped daily by the CMP. Glad to see you escaped.

not sure what a CMP is. Must be boomer insult slang for something involving sideburns and having sex in positions that aren’t missionary on days not on Sunday.

glad to hear the rona didn’t get you with how vulnerable you are and all buddy.

My problem with "precautions" like the jump ball one is that they are so monumentally stupid that they make people (and I'm including myself in this) want to just throw up their hands at all of them.

I think it ultimately has that psychological effect on most people, which hurts the main cause of what they are trying to promote.

So what *is* the logic on the coin flip jump ball? Like what is the reason being given? Even on the stupidest of ideas, there are usually two sides. What's the thing they're trying to do here?

It just goes to show how uneducated and generally dumb the majority of the population is. Intelligence and credentials haven’t been important for a lot of jobs that “matter” for decades. We let it slide because it generally doesn’t have that much impact, but when people in legitimate leadership positions are called on to make actual decisions this embarrassment is the result. And this will continue, there’s no stopping it. Nowadays the qualifications to be a govt “leader” is the ability to fundraise and market, and not much else.

Yeah - you could argue there is less contact amongst players on the Jump Ball than ANY other play in a basketball game.

Only one with less would obviously be the front end of a 2 shot FT, or a Technical Foul shot.

The stupidity never ends.

4-1- The host school should ensure that the ball is sanitized during time-outs and between quarters. (REQUIRED) ➢ Separate baskets/racks of balls for warm-ups (one basket/rack used by the home team and one basket/rack used by the visiting team). (CONSIDER) ➢ The ball may be switched as often as can efficiently allow for sanitization and return, up to and including changing balls each play.

Same rationale behind NBA reporters who have been quarantined since June and tested several times a week wearing a mask when they do a SportsCenter piece with no one in the arena. Or why they put a divider between the broadcasters on TV; laughable to think a piece of plexiglass will prevent the airborne spread of the virus or countless other bs acts that are more for show than prevention...

...theater of the mind or to simply say "we are doing something".

Problem is too many are like, "fine whatever, doesn't hurt anything does it?" and so we'll be in this ridiculous purgatory longer than needed.

Seems like a lot of people can't be responsible enough to take basic minimum precautions, and then the governments and officials can't help themselves from going overboard. Like everything these days, it's one extreme or the other for the loudest among us.

YOU'LL KILL ME BEFORE I WEAR A MASK IN A MASSIVE ENCLOSED CROWD! THIS **** AIN'T REAL ANYWAY, AND F*CK YOUR GRANDMA PROTECT HER YOURSELF!

YOU'LL WEAR A MASK 24/7 INCLUDING WHILE SLEEPING ALONE OUTSIDE IN THE WOODS WITH NO ONE WITHIN 10 MILES AND YOU'LL LIKE IT BY GOD YOU MURDEROUS FIEND!

Me: I'll just slide this mask on real quick to run into the store, and take it off when I get out. No big deal.

NO NO, YOU'RE A ***** COMMY LIBERAL MORON IF YOU PUT ON THAT MASK!

OH YOU ARE SUCH A PIECE OF ****! YOU DIDN'T WEAR IT ALL THE WAY BACK TO YOUR CAR, WEAR GLOVES, A FACESHIELD, AND YOU DIDN'T EVEN WEAR IT ON THE WAY HOME?!? F*CK YOU YOU PROBABLY KILLED SOMEONE! YOU'RE CANCELLED *****!

Also a complete absence of shame.

So what's your take on why we can't have nice uniforms anymore, Jeff? We're a Nike school last checked.

I'm already Randall Masters Week TV Coverage pissed about seeing our disgusting, hated basketball uniforms being worn *again* this season.

I'm stumped on that one. It just feels like UK locks itself into decisions without really doing much focus testing on fans. And once they do, it takes forever to see any changes. I'm shocked they still have the checkerboards all over everything. If nothing less, I thought maybe they'd tone it down and/or incorporate it in another way.

Our forefathers did their best to idiot proof our government by inserting a separation of powers and a load of checks an balances...it's almost like when you remove those, things get really stupid.
The cynical a-hole in me believes that the concept of "separation of powers" has almost completely been eradicated in favor of political party loyalty. I would not call this a positive development.

Masks protests weren’t just about wearing a ******* mask. They were about governments and organizations making stupid ******* rules for us to follow like starting a basketball game off with a stupid ******* coin flip or wearing a mask ten feet inside a restaurant to your table

Pretty sure governors going overboard isn’t about a few people being extremely anti-mask. That’s the same ******** people said about the dozens of protestors (who were literally going to kill thousands) back in March and April. “If they’d just stop we could be over this by now!”

It has nothing to do at all with who is or isn’t following the guidelines. The goals of the lockdown were met months ago and yet they won’t let up.

“Actually both sides” is the easiest fallback, but it just isn’t true
