Weren't there multiple people using the NJT account back in 2012? 🤔

Were talking about the Reds an the playoffs... in September. I know it's an odd season, but it's been a while since we've been at .500 this late, and coming off an inner-conference series win against a division leader. 🙂

Transformer blew downtown a few minutes ago. I'm sitting on the porch drinking coffee and reading emails when a light flashes and a loud pop. Hope a construction crew didnt get something. 😲

Obtained a bottle of down home toasted barrel for a birthday present, looking forward to sipping some this evening. 👍

Having a dab of homemade butter in the coffee this morning to celebrate the day. 🥴

I dont have an HOA where I live, but I have a historic overlay. Basically it's not a monthly drama session, but I have to get approval from the city to paint my deck. 😶

Good day to get in some work at the farm. 😁

Jones, you're flat-out on the wrong side of this. You physically assaulted someone over a f'ing sign and now you're pandering to the LCD of fans about a guy that isn't alive to defend himself calling his past "hateful".

Maybe he should have just punched someone in the head so you would be able to recognize what a hypocritical ******* you're being about this.

I appreciate the gesture from UK and understand the strong personal reaction from many on here.

BUT

Naming the media room after the guy behind NJT - a media parody account that dabbled more than a little bit in conservative talking points - was probably not the most well-thought-out idea and the reaction is pretty much what I would have expected it to be. I'm not justifying any of it, but I find it hard to believe that anyone is surprised. We live in a time where outrage rules.

Social media is a scourge of humanity.

There are some good things that come from it, but for the most part it’s been a giant, fat, soft, juicy, turd laid across the forehead of the world.
Other than the nuclear bomb, I'm not sure you can point to a more destructive technological advancement. And, hell, only two of those were ever used.

I can't get over Jeff suggesting UK should name its media room after an actual member of the Lexington media.

LOLZ

Anyway, as a card carrying ***** liberal that had little in common politically with our late friend, I always judged him on the things that actually mattered. Lee that is, not @notjerrytipton.

You know, his love and support of our shared alma mater, his loyalty to his wife, and unquestionable love of his young children. All of which he was robbed of. Naming a freaking room with good wifi after him, if that's what the family wants, is something I'll support and now defend because he was my friend and he made me laugh.

Not to belabor it, but how we arrived at a point where humor and satire isn't tolerable, and the author of such satire must be crucified for what is quite literally a literary form is depressing.

Check the histories of all of the Mark Twain Humor Award recipients. These must be some pristine, clean humor folks, otherwise revoking the awards and renouncing their art is the only viable option in today's world.

And, the destructive path isn't even near the end. We sadly have so much further to fall with social media and tough to even tell how far down the decline we are today.

UK or whoever should have never put out anything until a final decision was made imo.

One one hand, the Twitter account was a big reason why it’s being considered in the first place so yeah people are going to look back at it.

OTOH now his family has to watch a debate about their recently unexpectedly deceased loved one over some stuff put out on the internet years ago.

A simple search, probably followed by a private “thanks but we don’t feel that’s appropriate” would have been the easy and best way to go about things.

Just great work.

Exactly what is the "worst" thing NJT said? Everyone, even people pushing back against the cancelling, seem to just accept that he said bad stuff, but it was a long time ago and we need to look past it. But did he really even say anything truly bad? Drop a hard-R N-bomb? Advocate for genocide?

Social media outrage makes me need a nap.

I'm a white, middle-class white millennial woman. RGB did some great things for women. But the hens acting like the Republic is going to crumble after the death of an 87 year old is the most melodramatic horseshit I've seen in a minute until I logged on here and found out people were pissed about Lee's room. FTGE.

On a happy note, it's the 21st of September and time to listen to Earth, Wind & Fire.

I can't imagine caring whose name is on a plaque next to the door of the media work room at the basketball practice facility. At some point, we'll cancel enough to reach herd immunity. Sweden approach ftw?

Football week. I'll be over here listening to every single Kentucky football related radio show and podcast for the next 5 days.

Perfect weekend. No plans, just back yard fires, high proof bourbon, pileated woodpeckers, etc.

Hoisted the UK flag in the backyard this morning with a cool chill in the air and some dew on the grass.

Get your f*cking game faces on, bitches. It's game week!

OT:

Getting something notarized is f'ing stupid.

So I've got to do that today. People actually charge for that. Like as much as $50. Absurd.

It's actually a bank document, and they don't do it. I don't know if the rules or the industry is just different here, but you pretty much have to find a service and pay for it. Just annoying and pointless.

-I feel like a damn zombie. This coffee is going to wear off and I might just fall right over. Tonight is an extry 9pm melatonin gummy.

-🤣 @ the arguments over scotus. The two teams just completely switched stances overnight and are acting like these are deep rooted values.

-Docusign for the win. Notaries are archaic af.

-Today is a Coke day.

I never advocated it being named for anyone. That was my point. If you do, fine, but at least have some connection. The JDrum K-Lair would have been appropriate.

Naming the media room after someone whose biggest claim to fame was being an online parody account of an actual media member seems really dumb and tone deaf to me.

That being said any reason to give Matt Jones **** I’m all for. He’s always wanted to straddle the line between legit journalist and “lol I’m just a fan! We do this for fun” and ignore any sort of ethics or principles inherent in journalism.

It's both hilarious and sad -- 99% of the Twitter Mob right now thinks UK just decided to "honor" NJT out of the blue with a room. [eyeroll]

I appreciate those of you fighting to make it happen -- but it's unfortunately not going to now.

-I’m thankful every day there wasn’t social media or camera phones when I was growing up because I’d probably still be in prison. TMFS.

-i guess I’m sort of dating someone now. Totally came out of left field honestly. But she loves to send me videos of her playing with her😺so this might be love already.

-Company announced last week they’re giving us 50% of the pay cut we took over the spring in November as a bonus. Got a nice 3500 coming. Might get a new grill. Any recs?

-My hound dog is 16 years old and is really struggling. Might be time to make the hard decisions if her quality of life gets any worse. Not prepared for this at all.

-Football! Touchdown Terry leads the Cats over War Damn Eagle by 13 bigguns. Let’s F’n Go!
