So red wine is too sweet but white wine is ok?

Seems pretty backwards to me, but to each their own.

No, the chocolate would be too sweet. The rule of thumb is that wine and chocolate need to closely match in sweetness and intensity. Too much difference between the two will cause one to overpower the other. If you have a Cab with white chocolate, the chocolate will overpower the Cab and it will taste flat and bitter. If you have champagne with dark chocolate, the wine will overpower the chocolate and it will taste bitter and lose its subtle flavors. For the most part, I don't get too hung up on pairings, since it's ultimately a matter of personal taste, but there are a few that seem to universally apply.

I think the fact that the common core math tries to go straight to the intuitive way is the problem. The point of doing math the formal way is so you can do complex calculations and have a base for more advanced math. Teaching the "shortcuts" doesn't help, because, as attested here, most people develop those shortcut skills on their own.
Actually you’re wrong.

TGIF musings=

- I wonder how Chad's day is going. That first few days after the kid is born are tough.

- Math and history were always my best subjects. Common core makes sense to me, a hard change in philosophy of how you teach math does not. The problem isn't from educators though, it's politicians.

- I am so thankful to have sports back. By sports, I mean football. Basketball will be nice too.

- here comes fall

- taking Jojo camping in October. My father, son, and I will he spending a couple of days fishing and drinking beer around the campfire, can't wait.

- been watching John Adam's on HBO for the first time, very good so far.

Friday5

First Air of Autumn - Drive By Truckers
Boys From Oklahoma- Cross Canadian Ragweed
Why Cant We Be Friends - War
Walk of Life - Dire Straits
Ocean Breaths Salty - Modest Mouse Pickin on Series

Those aren't real songs or bands. I can't tell which is which.

- Song names first, bands second. It's all good music if you can look past the names. Rainbow Kitten Surprise (the name is awful) is a great band who I've seen in person two times.

-Judging by the Red's text thread, it's not going great. 🤣 He'll be alright though. IIRC the feeling(s) were complete and utter shock. Like, "what in the f*ck have I done, this was a stupid idea, I want a nap/drink/to be alone, why is everyone screaming at me, this little bastard just cries and *****, I really don't even like this thing, don't let me be the one that breaks it, help."

-No we're talking.

Shorts:

- Since you asked ... the daytime is fine. She’s calm, peaceful, have my MIL in the bullpen. At night, my gawd. It’s eat every 3 hours- but it’s not that simple. The process takes about 45 minutes. Then there’s the pooping and diaper changing. Then the random WTF screaming and crying. So basically, you’re on 2 hours, off an hour. Wake up in the morning groggy and stressed to 100 texts and 3 voicemails. Dogcussed PTI, ABH and Anth for no reason. I’ve now had coffee. The little one is asleep. Mama is napping. Life is good.

- CMD - I apologize for nothing. Post ******** and I’m sending it back like I’m Nerlens Noel. You know the game. Welcome back, MFer.

- It was good to watch the NFL. Man was it good.

- LOVE Elvis. My Top 5- pretty common admittedly:
1. Kentucky Rain
2. I Can’t Help Falling In Love
3. Suspicious Minds
4. Love Me Tender
5. Good Luck Charm

- Remember when B-dubs had 50-cent chicken legs on Wednesdays?

- Tell me about it- my Noelle alive 3 days and already knows her states and capitals, and is familiar with the entire Adobe suite.

- Woke sports journalists are probably in my Top 5 least favorite subgroups. To be clear, I dislike cancel culture and the extreme woke as much as many of you. Don’t get it twisted.

- Friday 5:

Bad Man Jake- Kerfluffel
Beach Boys- Kokomo
Jebidiah’s Right Arm- Justice
Millyun Redd- ***** Night
Rich Wesz- Comptom Town

-JCPS will be back in buildings the first week or 2nd week of October. Nobody likes NTI but we had one of our students almost die from Covid last Spring. He had a 104 temp and collapsed lungs. He was one of my bball players. Bashear mentioned him in one of his pressers. That one hit way too close to home so I don't mind the over cautiousness. But we all would much rather be in the classroom.

Big bad portland wayne is scared of a little virus. You do know you can have your own opinion, you don't ALWAYS have to do what the teachers union tells you.

My mom is retired special ed. elementary school teacher and it seems like lot of the way stuff is taught now to everyone was the old techniques used for remedial /LD instruction to help kids make breakthroughs and catch up, including the common core math.

She comes over everyday to watch our kids and help with virtual school and she is putting me to shame in spoiling my kids with “educational excuse” toys. Boy howdy.

- I like to chug two White Claws right when I’m finished working out. Makes me feel alive.

- A dip/snus/pouch is also amazing right after a workout. Increased blood flow? I don’t know. Grams to the dome, as it were.

-Kids have been in school for three weeks. I’ve been in the office since mid-May. Personally, I don’t recognize the virus anymore. Particularly since I’m a loner by nature, and not having ******** things to attend (board meetings, awards dinners, “Luncheons,” etc.), has been wonderful from a selfish standpoint.

- Nothing more frustrating than getting drunk/high, hiding something, and then forgetting where you hid it.

- Bought my wife some nice rose (where’s the French accent thing rudd?) at the booze store today. Thought it might buy me some points. Instead, was greeted with, “wtf is this, it’s after Labor Day.” Cool, toots. Next time it will be Vladimir Vodka and 7-up.

- It’s refreshing to once again feel the urgency of the morning of waking up early and having the kids dressed and out the door by 7:30. The shutdown made me lazy, and encouraged bad habits. Don’t get me wrong, three school-aged kids in the morning sucks, but as the old adage goes, there is a blessing in work.

- My 12 year old black lab died on May 14th. His name was Ickey, and he was the best goddamned boy. I didn’t say anything at the time in here, as everything was bleak as **** already, so why add to the depression. But man, I miss that old boy. Most of all when I’m grilling. He was a good lab, so obviously, he observed the grilling of meats with the most acute interest. He’d been with me ever since I was a douchebag fresh out of law school; saw me through some dark times; eventually helped me raise all three of my boys. Miss my buddy :(

- Destroy this weekend, GYERO. Peace to you and yours.

In my 12th hour of a brisket cook. This mf’er better be good.

Butcher paper wrapped tight and holding steady at 185°. I think I’m through the stall.

Will be delicious at 4am 🥴.
Pour in the dripping juice or beef broth. Wrap and drop in a cooler. 6-8 hours easy.

-After agreeing to a number on taking over a distillery, the owner moved the goal post on us. Spent the last week or 2 renegotiating and also pursuing a back up plan.

Said back up plan is a new start option, and as it turns out I spent the day touring a property with a guy that may or may not be tied to what was once the Cornbread Mafia.

Wow! Had a blast giving the guy more than enough of my brown water and then negotiating on a possible deal, but I will say those bardstown boys can DRINK!

I honestly can’t see where things are going, but I know I can always just fall back on continuing what I was doing as worse case.

- Group pick, 190 bottles, gone in 10 minutes!

- Liqour Barn interested one barrel picks, but for them it’s more like 5 barrels. LFG!

- Mom, shew, what a mess. I don’t even speak on it right now but she is with a family member where they have filed for divorce from my stepdad who lives with me.

Her plan is to get half, buy me a lot to build a house, and then she wants to buy my house I live in now and live here with my stepdad so that they are only 1 minute away from us.

Filing for guardianship which will just rip everything in our family to shreds, but reread what I just typed, someone ain’t thinking right here.

- Really enjoyed Football last night, all 5 minutes that I watched.

- RE: Parents paying for school.......

I skipped fall semester and started in Jan, on New Years before starting I was ran over at a New Years Party.

Landed a 20K lawsuit, which made it to where I went to Lexington with 13K off a fresh lawsuit, and had received $750 a month from ages 16-18 in High School because my adopted father retired on disability which triggered a SS draw to me somehow.

I was 19, well over $25,000 stepping on campus and had convinced my parents I’d never live if I had to stay in the dorms so they paid rent for my apartment but everything else was up to me.

That was my deal. 2 years in I was broke, in jail, and had to work from that point on and dropped out.

Finished up at Sullivan and got a MBA.

- Ruining the day Chad had a kiddo with politics was just disrespectful.

- Game 7, and somehow I’m still awake. Brown Water after Brown Water.

Run over?

In any case, if you need an architect to design your new distillery, I’m still registered in KY. You can pay me with a steady flow of high proof brown juice.

Yes a fight broke out and for whatever reason the guys getting beat down took off running for their car which I happened to be in front of 8 ft away. 6’5 flipped up and over the vehicle and landed on my head.

a girl standing a little farther away went up and under the car and was in a halo for over a year to get right.
