Bluegrass (William Van Meter)

Tells the story of the rape and murder of WKU freshman Katie Autry. One of her fellow classmates eventually convicted of the crime was part of the billionaire Dollar General family. Great read.

Starting Hillbilly Hustle this weekend. Got
Coal Black on deck after that. Purchased Above Suspicion last year but haven’t cracked it. Now that pretzel sloot rec’d I may have to move up the list.

BC was a great story just painful to read.

Cornbread Mafia was an entertaining easy read.

Cornbread mafia was also enjoyable, if rape isn’t your cup of tea.

Leonard Fournette joining the GOAT and Gronk in Tompa Bay...that offense has some serious firepower.

The Dollar General dude actually got away with it. His accomplice - a former student of mine during my very first year as a teacher - took the major fall.

Just an awful, awful situation. Not sure true justice was delivered in this case. Money, man.

-Though I went to my first game in 1981 (props to Dan Driessen for hitting a grand slam to beat the Cardinals), the first MLB team I actually followed was the 1982 Reds. Good grief what a dumpster fire of a team. Over 100 losses, only two guys in double-digit HRs, and nobody knocking in more than 57 runs. The only bright spot was Mario Soto, who was a straight-up monster. But that was also my introduction to Tom Seaver. He was awful that year, and I remember being sad that he was finishing up his career that way, pitching so badly on a terrible team. Until last night, I'd forgotten that he still had a good years left in the tank after leaving Cincinnati.

-I hate watching James Harden play. I hate it with the heat of a thousand suns. It takes a lot for me to want Chris Paul to win at anything. I even cheer when "his" Kia is destroyed in that State Farm commercial.

-I bet Bucks fans HATE Eric Bledsoe.

-The local Wendy's got our drive-thru order correct for the first time since 2003 last night. No Wendy's will ever live up to the one on Nicholasville Road. Not only are they accurate, they practically throw your change and your food into the car as you pull up. I bet you could go through that entire lane without hitting your brakes once if you timed it right. They are the Usain Bolt of drive-thrus.

-Cross Country parent meeting last night. Limited number of runners. Masks to the starting line. Only 40 runners per race. Limited spectators who have to stay at least six feet apart. Temperature checks for everyone, parents included. Fine with me, as long as the kid gets to have a season. Hail Woodford and whatnot.

A lot of folks keep referencing "Derby" this weekend. Just a reminder that this isn't Derby. Its barely a horse race. There is one legit horse surrounded by a bunch of midweek runners, in a city thats lost its way.

Place a bet if you want to, open a beer and turn it on for 2 minutes- then turn it back off. And do not under any circumstances put mint in your bourbon this weekend. Just let it come and go with hopefully as little fanfare as possible- because any additional attention will most certainly be negative.

-My queue right now for books is way too long but Cornbread Mafia is in there. I've started and quit Bluegrass Conspiracy 3 times. It's terribly written.

-I haven't said anything about kneeling, the video, walk outs, whatever. It's fine. I am all for free speech even if I don't agree. BUT removing MOKH from the Derby is just crushing for me. I'm not going to stop going but it sucks. I'm so proud of my state when that song kicks off, tears in my eyes every time, it's just perfect. Very disappointing if it actually happens.

-Reds are just going to drag this out to continue my misery, right?

-Like father, like son. G is playing Party Rock by LMFAO on constant loop right now. So proud.

-New facial scrubs, oils, emollients, spfs, and moisturizers are working well so far. I like. About time I changed from Dove soap and H&S.

-Happy Thurby!!

Does UK remove MOKH from events as well? Purely speculation, but can see it moving in that direction.

The best MOKH moment was before the 2007 LSU game. While it was being played to the full attention and required somberness of the UK faithful, LSU came out of the locker room. Their band starts playing and their fans start cheering. Our fans go nuts and start booing the hell out of all of them. The whole atmosphere of that game changed from what was expected to be a beatdown to oh it's on now. Lasted from kickoff until I don't think he got it, Kentucky wins. Back at the hotel that night, ran into some LSU fans and they apologized for it. They were shook.

To this day I still hate that Snow White hussy.

Basically every single thing that dates back to the late 1800s is connected to or rooted in slavery.

Shameful, but it’s also okay to just go ahead and admit that.

Ya know if you’re looking for a river city that still has a statue of its namesake standing and exponentially less chaos, you could turn your eyes up the Ohio and find one...
Believe we're just finally realizing what is always been like living in Cincy.

They are the Usain Bolt of drive-thrus.

There isn't a drive-thru anywhere in Lex as fast as the Hamburg CFA. Their July sales were 20% above July 2019....and that was without any lobby service. The # of cars they run thru per hour is just stupid.
