- It's more and more obvious reading through GYERO how much different life it without kids vs seeing everyone post about the new kiddos and the growing ones. Probably doesn't seem like much to many of you but it makes me feel better knowing there are still some awesome parents because in the daily life of wanting to punt someone's kid because they let them run wild in public with no regard for anyone else, us DINKs do rely on that upbringing to be on point - even if not on a direct basis. On that note, good luck with helping them navigate this f'd up world.

- My wife has been out-of-town since Wed. Love her to death and don't feel the least bit guilty that I'm doing absolutely as little as possible without the occasional passive aggressive comment. Just me, the pup and the two ******* cats.

- Being essential has basically ruined any opportunity to truly unplug and enjoy this staycation. Working 12+ hours, working throughout the weekend, getting absolutely crushed by everything and just trying to build for the day I can shoot double-barrel birds to the working world and marshal at a golf course.

- See lots of comments both for/against SJW issues in sports. Feels like a point of no return when we're this divided over issues. Both sides need each other whether they want to admit it or not. If your viewership drops, chastising those that tune out isn't going to bring them back. And, that's the audience you're hoping to reach with the message. OTOH, I get it - just find better issues than protesting over some POS ******* with violent felonies. Not too much to ask, really.

- Working through a refi and the LO misspelled my wife's name. FFS that is probably the easiest part of the job and he's touching it up.

- Rack whoever mentioned Umbrella Academy. Nice distraction with some really funny characters/writing. #5 and Klaus steal every scene.

- Got a rando call from new overlords asking if I can be in Lake Tahoe in a few weeks. Golf, guns, drinking and about 30 mins of actual work. Had my flight booked before we hung up.

- Been doing a bunch of Dr appts for turning 40 and not wanting to miss anything preventable. Sitting in the waiting room yesterday, this fat, wheezy pig took his mask off to cough everywhere. Kept my mouth shut but took some restraint. No one likes this **** but you don't have to be a GD insufferable POS about it, either.

- Stay safe and enjoy the weekend.

- We've originated more files through May than the entirety of 2019 at work. Thought it would be mostly refis (panic before the market value fall) but the majority have been purchases. People don't seem concerned about the economy but we also happen to live near the headquarters of Lowe's and if anyone has done well in this ****, it's touching Lowe's.

- Stopped following recruiting (for both sports) about 3 years ago. The anxiety it brought was too much. Just reading about McDaniels in GYERO was enough for Vietnam level flashbacks.

- Crazy how quick a shooting turns people into a line of blue and red shirts parroting the same **** they do every time this happens. I wish this country had some nuance/context/sensibility.

- My daughter has been infinitely sweeter and more responsive (put that down/stop touching that, etc.) than my son ever was. Son's a great kid but boys are hell early on.

- Leaving for KY in an hour. Looking forward to a few podcasts as recommended here, much obliged to everyone for the recs.

Good Morning:

:: I still can't believe a GYERO poster had his hands on my baby before me.

:: Congrats Joey! I'll be hoping for the best for you all.

:: Yes, that also means another GYERO poster has seen my wife's HooHa. At least twice.

:: Speaking of music one of my foundational records turned 30 today. "Time's Up," by Living Colour. This band vaulted into my Rock Pantheon after their first release, "Vivid." I was working in a Disk Jockey the day it came out and got the cassette (#Old) when the shipment arrived.

:: If you didn't know any better and were listening to this record for the first time you would think it came out last week. As far ahead of it's time as anything that came out around then....

Police, they chased my brother,
Policeman licensed to kill.
Oh, how I miss my brother,
Good shoes are so hard to fill.

Policeman are you happy?
You snuffed a medical student out.
Oh maybe he could have changed the world
I guess we'll never find out.

- "Someone Like You" 8/28/90

:: Are records like "Time's Up" and "Straight Outta Compton" really ahead of their time or has their message been ignored for 30+ years? Sometimes, when I listen to my catalogue from back in the day I get this feeling of dread spurred by the knowledge that the most of the messages and ideas in these works did nothing. Especially when I take a look around now.

:: My Friday Five:

Someone Like You, Living Colour
Information Overload, Living Colour
Pride, Living Colour
Time's Up, Living Colour
This is the Life, Living Colour

We're saving a half a point on the mortgage of the new place. We probably could have got more, but we didn't want to gamble on rates dropping again. When we close on the sale of the other house we will have lower out of pocket monthly expenses and living in a drastically better space. The speed and timing of this thing has been mind boggling.

Our inventory is just so low here. It's not just coincidence people that fled big cities for the pandemic realized you can live like a king, have great schools and drop your COL significantly throughout many places in the South.

Irish, are you an LO? My brother is moving to NC in the Spring/Summer so would like to refer him if he needs a contact.

@ catlanta

I do some mortgage work still (especially as busy as it has been lately) but primarily work on retirement planning, investments and trust fiduciary roles now. If he can find a way to get into the State Employees' Credit Union in NC we have a ton of great benefits and hardly anything in regards to fees. Let me know when he starts looking and I'll see what we can sort out.

@ fylm

If we were as directly tied to the fed rate as the nationwide banks, it would be even crazier for us right now. I won't say it can't go much lower but we are looking at modifying our margin just to stay competitive which is going to (continue) to kill deposit rates. Good for buyers, though. The market here is essentially a house goes on the market, they do an open house then you submit your final and best offer that night. 30ish day closing, move on to the next one. Houses I did mortgages on two years ago for 150k are selling for 220k. This **** ain't sustainable.

Big swing and miss there bubba. KB's are man-makers. Get your boy to show you the light.

* Market has essentially mopped up all the carnage from the spring. Figure that's welcome, bipartisan news but I'm sure I'm wrong.

* Good friend of mine who lives in Birmingham is having a tough go of it with his four legged best friend of 14 years 😢If humans had half the innate qualities of dogs we wouldn't be in this mess.

* 6-4 err...7-3. Come mid September I'll have talked myself into only two close loses.

* Lotsa Pasta's Italian sub with extry hot capicola is my go-to cheat meal. Throw in a cup of their corn chowder for good measure.

* The drummer of Living Colour >>>

- If not for the damn seed to navigate around I could eat my body weight in Washington cherries.

* Gonna take wcc's advice on bourbon and banter with a host of Lexington wildcat friends this weekend

FF:

Player - Baby Come Back
Robert Plant - Burning Down One Side
Leonard Cohen - Hallelujah
Queen - Brighton Rock
Soundgarden - Jesus Christ Pose

Yes, guys, songs about the police/government and abuse of power have been around for quite some time. They weren’t “ahead of their time.” If anything, they’re usually far behind the times. Police violence, especially the kind of random violence meant mostly for intimidation that the songs are about, has been decreasing for probably 50 years.

Not many cases of entire police departments driving down the street and dooring random black people, like they did in the 50s, these days. Media attention and narrative construction are a *****.

These completely trivial victories are a complete slap in the face to the true, life changing work that needs to be done. What a joke. I mean, who has time to worry about the mass incarceration of millions of poor Americans when you can jump on a golden opportunity to change the name on a building where people watch Jason Aldean concerts, New Kids on the Block, and college basketball games?

Thread on HOB about the Big ten wanting a do over on football. Hundred post calling them out for the hypocritical, pansy, clown show that they are.
Then, one lone poster comes in....." Hey guys just a reminder, it's not the players or coaches that don't want to play, it's just the commissioner. Please leave negative post about big ten players out of this".
Fu@king Wildcat Willy is terrible. Puke emoji.

Rob, I'm not in the mood for your stupid **** today. Go fantasize about sucking some cock and being a ****** slum lord. Maybe Daddy will let you evict somebody today.

Here is my entire post and it is 100% factual...

"The players and coaches have wanted to play all along. It's the new commish, ADs and presidents who think they are smarter than everyone else."
