James Marine. Not sure about 1/4. Could be more.

Considering they generate around 240,000,000$ in sales a year I’d say he is a player. Although, I “think” he does most of his tow work on the Tennessee, Ohio, and Cumberland rivers. Could be more.

Could be. I don't get into business when I see him.

I do know they made about $300 million in purchases around the New Orleans area a few years back.

One of my dad’s cousins worked very briefly on a tow boat out of high school. He said that every one of the crew (mates?) was super gay, and that apparently this is the norm on the river. Big, burly, aggressive gays, too.

He joined the boat in Cincy, got off it Louisville, and then hitchhiked home.

This is the extent of my river commerce knowledge.

Sounds like August-West knows this "FRIEND" better than UK Dallas does. There is a HUGE difference and knowing someone and being friends. You know like, I know Jason Witten, but not friends with Jason Witten. A lot of people get it twisted. But mostly people who try to sound way more important than they really are.

I can assure you that August does not know him.

Let's see..........same age, next door neighbor, played 7 years of little league together where he was SS and I was 3B. I could go on but that should be enough.

When it comes to certain circles, Paducah is a pretty small town. Most people who live here are familiar with James Marine and the multiple subsidiaries they have acquired over the years.

This is a river town and the barge industry is a huge part of many many people’s lives here, so in Chief’s defense, it isn’t unusual for someone who lives in the area to have what seems like insider knowledge. I believe Chief knows who he says he knows. No reason not to believe him! We all went to school and are friends with someone living the smug life.

Speaking of that, Kennedy, I knew you were from Paducah, but I didn’t realize you were a fellow St Mary alum. Cool!

* I just had a fun couple days. Long story short I got suddenly sick with a few eclectic symptoms, the worst being terrible stomach cramping and aching joints. There was some mild respiratory stuff too and yadda yadda, so called the doctor who recommended Covid test and quarantine. Got the test Wednesday and spent the whole time bunkered in my room, thinking well if this is all it is then I am one lucky old biddy, but also a little frightened of all the stories I read of people being fine and then a week later they wake up unable to breathe.

Test just came back negative! [smoke] Shew! Mixed emotions. If Covid was only gonna be what I was experiencing, I would just as soon have it and be done with it, but I am also relieved just in case it could have gotten worse.

* Very excited that we actually have a football plan. Not optimal, but better than nothing. Go Cats!

I'm still not sure I want to be in the "got Covid over with" crowd. I'd kind of like to get more info on the long term effects first.

Actually I do know them but obviously not as well as you. I only know them from the periphery....like Terrie said below

We’ve got the granddaughter at St. Mary’s. Best decision we’ve made so far as to her education. Granted she started last year in 1st grade. Know any of the Shoulta’s?

I mean, Chief gonna take that job now that the big burly gay vibe is out? What you do for money...

Also enjoyed a nice little Apple bump today. Pretty much any time it dips I’m grabbing more. Chief did drop that knowledge, up 7x...imagine if you’d just listened to Forrest Gump back in 1994...that guy must be a billionaire now.

Herman Cain not wearing a mask...the lefts new favourite talking point. Some of them taking it so far that he “basically committed suicide” by going to the rally. The right is supposed to be pro life, but you are ok with people committing suicide?!?!

K.

Still praying for college football, hope is a good thing. Right?

Yes, August, I was in school with Shoultas and there was one in my class: Elizabeth. We didn’t really hang around much and I haven’t seen her since high school, but since there were fewer than 100 people in my class I knew everyone.

Entire river industry’s gay.
Aerospace, too, and the railroads.

Correct. I believe he told me they purchased facilities to work on and repair barges down there, similar to what they can do in Paducah. Before, they had to pay companies down there to work on their barges if they needed any work on the south end of the trip.
Jeff is a nice guy.

Most of the Two Keys signage has been down for like a month now, I guess they wanted some type of official send off on the last day of their lease.

I encountered an inordinate amount of ******** today. Reminded me of the old Raylan Givens’ quote, and got me thinking that maybe I’m the *******.

Lawyers are just ******** - plain and simple. Even if you’re not naturally an *******, you have to become one in order to do your job effectively. What a **** profession.

Got cute at the taco place/tienda today and bought a package of “chorizo de res.” Came home and started cooking it up in the skillet. Noticed that it smelled like **** and was basically all fat and grease. Then I looked at the ingredients: beef salivary glands, lymph nodes, and cheeks. MFing “cheeks.” Wtf. Dumped that **** down the disposal and ordered a pizza.

Had to drive to Eastern Kentucky for work and the rental company upgraded me to a new Nissan Maxima for free. Not a fancy car by any means, but compared to my 11 year old 4Runner, wow, what a pleasure to drive. Forgot what it was like to properly take a corner.

The work week after a vacation is such an emotional rollercoaster. On Monday you’re looking at homes, schools and job postings online convincing yourself that you could actually move to the place you just vacationed. Then on Tuesday you start to realize that’s a pipe dream but you’re hanging on to hope. And then come Wednesday you’re resigned to working until retirement in a midwestern ********. Then on Thursday you can at least get drunk.

Speaking of which, not sure I’ve ever seen a distillery with as distinctive and unique of a house flavor as Willet. Tastes like maybe it’s due to a funky yeast. Their whiskey is more of a dead giveaway than any other distillery other than maybe Beam. Not totally sold on it, but I give them props for having character.

That’s enough. The first Delta Force is about to come on a **** cable channel. Have a good evening and weekend, Gyero.

I miss sports as much as any diehard. However, this NBA Restart is turrible. Please Sweet Baby Jesus give us College Sports where they actually play defense. Watching Harden constantly taking 3 steps and the announcers praising the great moves is ridiculous.

Herman Cain has become a cautionary tale for a nation of people that can somehow remove themselves from culpability with spreading a highly contagious, apolitical virus to blame someone else for more deaths.

Congrats, I guess.
