I went and watched Dakotah effin' Euton play in Ashland and knew that we were screwed for the immediate future. I still watch that John Wall mixtape for therapeutic's sake.

Tackett definitely had some of that Rex athleticism. Played Paintsville when they had Tackett and Vanhoose at a summer camp.

Got destroyed with him playing, he left to play in a baseball tourney and then later we beat them by 15.....even with Vanhoose.

Kid was doing 360’s with ease and was really good off the bounce.

96’ UHA started a front court of Lamont Barnes 6’10”, Harold Swanigan 6’10” and Isiah Victor 6’8”.

Not stiffs, played at Temple, ND and UT (UK should have recruited Victor, never understood that).

It was a joke watching them play against other HS squads. Problem is they thought it was a joke too and never played hard.

you south hopkin's whiteys must have felt like 92 UK and what coulda been....almost. y'all were good, just didn't have your Mashburn light

Not to derail the actual sports conversation (please keep going), but just have to make a side note that this No Limit doc is fantastic.

The old timers eating breakfast down at the local greasy spoon were hoping for it. Believe it or not, many of our fan base saw a 6’5 homegrown white boy with short cropped hair that could shoot and immediately thought “Rex!” It’s not that big of a reach to think some of our LOW BASKETBALL IQ fans made that connection.

I watched 3 interweb videos of Carrier against mediocre competition by national standards and coupled with his consensus national ranking range and I never thought he’d play serious minutes at Kentucky. Despite him being a 6’5” white boy from Bowling Green.

I also had the same belief about Jon Hood after watching some highlight videos of him. Very good to great player by rural Kentucky standards but nationally speaking a mid major level talent.

Chapman was as the millennials say a unicorn.

You brought up JP Blevins being Kentucky’s Damon Bailey? Damon Bailey was and still is Indiana’s all time leading scorer in the history of high school hoops, was a McDonald’s All American, Naismith National High School Player of the Year, & USA Today National High School Player of the Decade playing against far superior competition in high school than Blevins.

I don’t think we’re properly evaluating Kentucky High School Basketball talent level & competition as a whole on a national scale.

Carrier put up a 50 spot and the sad, poor Burkesville kids were going to the concession stand to get a paper plate for him to sign after the game.

Hood played well at some elite camps. He just never mastered the skill off coming off the bench cold and making shots, some guys can and some can’t. His back was also a problem, I believe.

The Jerry Tipton columns re: JR VanHoose’s lack of recruitment might have been peak Tipton
It always felt like VanHoose got all the glory off that team. Which is weird considering Tackett made that team go and the fact he got the UK scholly.

You wouldn't rather be talking about a bicycle movie?

As a 1st region rep we've got Mayfield football and....................that's the list.

The best 1st region basketball team I saw was 1990-91 Paducah Tilghman. Took Oak Hill to the wire and made F4 at the state tourney I believe.

I guess I need to stop projecting how other people viewed these guys? I’m not breaking down what I thought they were. I’m telling you what others - fanboys that they were- thought of them.

When catchaser’s team held JP to 11 in that district game he referenced, I knew right then that boy would struggle. Because if that outfit could contain him . . .

Now CHANE has some good stories associated with his recruitment. One involves Huggins and Lil’ General at the same practice. Huggins knows how to own the room. He roasted poor Travis into total silence.

How can I forget Lone Oak tennis(girls) before the county schools merged into McCracken. My sister would be mad I forgot her 6-7 state titles.

Those Lone Oak tennis teams were legit. Their basketball teams not so much, which is what apparently is being discussed.

Watched Hood at HoopFest and did not come away impressed like I did with Rondo and Doron. Obviously best player on his team/region but once Cal took over no way he had a chance. Pretty sure that he parlayed his time here into a sweet gig and a not ugly wife. Not a bad deal if you ask me.

I’ve been up since 4am, because my mom has a surgery today, and for the damndest reason I can’t stop laughing that Billy Gillespie was an actual Coach in UK Basketball history.

WTF is that!!!

I feel like the low-stakes, zany plot lines prove that the the 90s were the best time. Dog playing basketball? Why not! Propping up a corpse and pretending he's alive for personal gain? Weekend at Bernie's for sure!! (and there was a sequel, no? how did they preserve him for a sequel?)

There are a million other examples from that time-frame, but man...they hardly even make traditional action movies anymore.

A certain segment of the internet was (rightfully) excited about the return of a movie based on a teen being forced to choose between going to college or pursuing a fledgling BMX racing career.

How bout this... we surgically switch our faces so that the hero becomes the villain and vice versa. Now that's a story!

The Vanhoose game I saw left me thinking "I'm not sure I see it" and the box score had him with 20 boards. It's whatever.

Did Tipton write anything about no interest in Chris Lofton? That's a KY guy that might have been nice to have on our side.

I watched Steph Curry play in a high school tournament that also included players such as Jodie Meeks, Wayne Ellington and Gerald Henderson. Not only did I not see it with Curry, most D1 coaches did not see it either.

The name is solid but I'm not sure why they mailed it in with their mascot and simply gussied up the Peppermint Butler?

If you haven’t read the complaint in the Corbin lawyer thread do yourself a favor and read it. WOW.

I mean I’m sure some of us have had some perverse thoughts about co-workers but ole boy tried to live them out like it happens in the pornographic vids I hear so much about.

Some of you law balls probably know the guy.
