* #1 all-time impatient circumstance:

Getting the forgotten password/password reset email sent to your inbox. If that f'ing thing doesn't show up in less than 3 seconds, I'm livid.

* Running talk:

Masters (40+) running legend Kevin Castille busted for steroids, and given a 4-year suspension by the USADA. Grew up in Lafayette, Louisiana, ran for ULL, dropped out of college, started selling crack, then picked up running again while living in Nicholasville, and competing for John's Run Walk Shop. Or something like that.

https://www.runnersworld.com/news/a33340092/masters-champion-gets-four-year-ban/

This dude was setting world records for the 40+ (masters) division, and making the US Olympic Trials. Absolutely destroying competition for years. Cheater.

* Love reading the competitive golf talk, actually. I'm not talking about drboatman's weekend warrior/drunken long drive bs, I'm talking about actual tournament play, with money on the line.

Face it -- we're mostly 40-somethings, and the opportunity to compete at a high athletic level doesn't present itself too often anymore. So, kudos to those who continue to get after it. Man In The Arena, and all that.

* Trying to put together a Cooperstown trip. I know you can find closer airports, but right now it's looking like flying into Boston, NYC, or Philadelphia. Philly with the $42 round trip is leading the way, as all are about a 4 hour drive.

No offense to Syracuse or Albany, but.....actually, yeah. F those dirty little towns. I'll drive the extra way.

* Can you imagine being 18 years old, graduating high school, ready to fly the coop and move into the dorms....only to have your entire world shut down?

Instead of move-in day, rush week, and dorm life, you're stuck in your parents home and distance learning? Best year of your life robbed from you. F that. I can't even keep count of how many friends I still have to this day that I met one way or another my freshman year at UK. Ugh.

* "We're seeing too much spread from 50 people getting together in someone's backyard."

G. F. Y, Governor Beshear.

* Quick No Limit Soldier Poll. What do you live for:

a) weed and money?
b) bitches and blunts?

I'm gonna go with A, but it's close.

* GIVE ME BACK MY SON!

* On a Rodney Dangerfield kick lately. Lord have mercy, that dude's got an endless supply of one-liners.

my mother never breastfeed me. she told me she only like me as a friend.
when i was born, the doctor picked me up and smacked me. i found out the nurse, she got in a few good whacks, too.

[laughing][laughing]

* Another good day on Wall Street. I'm not as savvy as some of these investors on the Stock Advice Thread, but I see a big run up leading up to the next stimulus package, before an inevitable 2021 beatdown. That's my take, anyways.

<-- up BIG this year. Dumb luck, ftmfw.

* Sports.

-My little one just turned 3 months. I think I'm on the downside of the peak for a colic(y) 3 month old...or at least I hope.

-Baseball starting again will be fun, we have never seen a 60 game season but be ready for all types of highs and lows.

-Craft beers are great, but sometimes I just want a great lager or pilsner in the summer which they can do as well. For that, I suggest Yuengling.

-Mark Stoops = MAN

-I'm tired of no sports as is everyone...

-Bossman is going to dominate on D and don't discount Terry Wilson behind the best OL in our history.

-Also, Cal likes his team.

-getting the basement "waterproofed".(smuglife!) in a few weeks. Gotta box everything up and move to the middle of the rooms. Soooo...if anyone needs any philosophy, 19th-> mid 20's century literature, Spanish civil war, gulag/cold war books, dorky board games, surplus original artworks or hand tools...im your guy.

^gotta make room for a music studio. Big things afoot.

-yeah...just sat through "virtual orientation " with Prima. Turrible.

-also, ive listed wildcat chad as her local "emergency contact". Hope he doesnt mind.

* Grandfather used to always add a couple dashes of salt to his frosty mug and by gawd, it surprisingly hits the spot with your summer south-of-the-border cerveza or domesto.

* Caught the end of 'Funny Farm' over the weekend and sat there the whole time wondering how the hell Chevy Chase fell from 'Fletch', 'Spies Like Us' and 'Vacation' to that garbage.

* Pretty solid pitching duel out of the gate with Cole v. Scherzer in our nations capital. Nats with a top five pitching rotation along with some great young talent in the outfield + plenty of rest from the extended postseason for the vets and I like their shot at defending the title.

Just as interested to see what small market darkhorse team makes a deep run in the playoffs thanks to this abridged schedule.

* Incorporating garden-to-table basil in damn near every meal while it's sprouting.

* Caved in and purchased 'Yellowstone' season 1 last night. Solid start and the last decent show I can remember Costner in since Bull Durham. Montana also seems inviting right about now.

* Realized long ago B2C is for the birds. Dealing with John Q. Public's idiosyncrasies and bugaboos is not worth the headache.

* Not a fan of sweet old fashioneds but Ruby's take is an exception to the rule.

* If I'm dropping the coin on a home arcade system give me The Addams Family pinball machine. Wore that thing out many a weekend nights in the Village 8 lobby pre-driver license.

Yellowstone comes on the Paramount Channel. I get it on sattelite. No need to buy. All 3 seasons are on demand. Season 3 episode 5 premiered Monday Night. great show, all kinds of plots going on. Costner does a great job playing a "cowboy".

Started watching Rectify on Netflix. Weird *** show, about 7 episodes in. It originally started as a Indy Films deal. Slow, and kind of moves at a snails pace, but going to be interesting by the time 3 season rolls around. Dude is touched up, just wondering if he really raped and murdered his GF, he got off death row because of no DNA, we shall see.

Not a No limit soldier, so Future will have to do.

A. percoset, molly percoset. Chase a check, never chase a *itch.

B. See A.

I'm on my 5th metatarsal stress fracture in 7 years (3 on the left, 2 on the right). Going to ortho tomorrow. This one actually showed up on an x-ray with minor displacement. On the DL for a bit. /runningtalk

-IMO, stay over night in or close to Cooperstown. Really neat little town. Pubs on the corner, 1 main street lined with memorabilia shops, it's great. I hate the idea of flying anywhere then driving 4 hours.

-If G had just graduated HS I'd probably just suggest sitting this year out and getting a job. Start fresh and legit next year. Can't f*ck up Freshman year. That first semester is really the dumbassary pinnacle of life.

-Family of four can't have more than 6 people over for a backyard birthday but be sure to head on over to Lynn Family Statidum for some soccer action with 5k of our best fans. This virus is so picky where it spreads.

-Fed keeping rates low and you bet they'll do it again next year. Can't have a bad economy as a president. Passing out more stimulus checks with the DJ basically at the same spot it was last year. US has a 1/4 tank of gas in it's new E-Class.

WWI & WWII Veterans didn’t look at it like that, Snowflake!! Ask SAE as he sounds like he was transported from that era.

Wonder if the old guy the Queen just gave a metal to Juiced?

About the only good thing to come out of the Covid is MLB having to only play 60 games. Maybe the Reds can stay within 30 games by August for anyone following that train wreck of a team.

Speaking of the Reds.....J.Edgar should have definitely changed that racists team name years ago during the Cold Wars.

<---Dad of an 18yr old recent high school grad. It sucks for him and his buddies for sure. He's already preparing to move to the basement once his college announces everything will be online. A couple of his buddies have decided to work this year and go all in as college freshmen next year.

It also sucks that my 11yr old and his baseball team finally beat their bitter rivals last weekend and all they could do was tip their hat at them at the end. No handshake line to add insult to injury.

If I had an 18-year old freshman, I’d tell him to take like 21 credit hours this semester with several Mickey Mouse type courses. And I’d pay him $200 per A or something, but check in him frequently which would be easier since he’d be at home. Do everything I can to get him him off to a good start while he’s dealing with this BS.

I would tell my kid to f*** college and do Tik-Tok or Fortnite 24 hours a day because apparently you can become a GD millionaire doing that and I don't understand the world anymore.

My kids told me that some chick "sold a Tik-Tok dance to Fortnite" for 5 million dollars like it wasn't the craziest **** imaginable. They were completely unfazed by it. Is it a lie? Possibly. But the fact that I'm not sure it isn't true is terrifying.

Same here. Gramps would put a little salt in a Three Kings bottle and if you joined him and didn't drink the whole bottle in 3 drinks, you got punched in the arm.

Not if you treated the first year as BS to get as much "academics" out of the way as possible and then do 12 credits a semester for your sophomore year where you enjoy the experience to the fullest, already knowing that most college undergrad classes outside of STEM are basically easy work for anyone halfway intelligent.

I think it is a solid plan.

I think if I had been watching Coach Stoops have a similarly inspiring run at some other similarly anemic football program ....I’d probably regard him as one of those “ Live Wire Perfectly Timed “ hires that WE NEVER GET ...I’d also think of him as a top 5 Up and comer among the younger coaches in these formerly-United-states ....

which — I believe he is!

and DAYUM it’s good to say that -

I am freaking giddy-spit take-glad that man is our coach !

Gotta pay attention to this optometrist now

Have a great book on the Spanish civil war - really interesting corner of history there -

when one side of your struggle is backed by Joseph Stalin and the other is backed by Adolph Hitler....it’s really going to make it difficult for others to pick a team :p.....almost as bad as a damn Duke-UNC game ....

PS - Rolling Rock is a fantastic cheap beer - and it’s more fun to drink from green bottles

Cooperstown was awesome.

Just be aware the door that reads, "Coloreds Only" doesn't actually open. It didn't for me, at least. May be an Excalibur thing.

Phukin Chinese restaurant. Awesome name, didn't eat there.

How about just living a normal life and not doing anything crazy in HS or during certain college semesters and therefore just having a normal balanced schedule the entire time and not random god awful semesters with 21 hours or weird off balance semesters with 9 hours? That was my route anyway.

But have they already announced colleges are going to be online? Thought the majority were planning on having on campus. Man what a **** year for the kiddos

An even better plan is to get those 21 credits in AP courses in high school and then cruise through your final year while needing 9 hour semesters (plus 3 hours of BS to maintain status as a full time student).

It was great. Talk to your middle schoolers about college credit in HS, GYERO.

- Starting with 35 was better. Every semester 12/13 hours tops. Parents tried to talk me into graduating early with a full ride...helllllllllllllll no.

- Trying to design a bourbon bar/shelving in the new place. Lass wants black matte backsplash/tile with uplighting, not sure how I feel about it.

- Been on a giant fried egg kick lately. Waking up an extra 5-10 minutes early to get a fried egg and bacon bagel every morning has really increased quality of life.

- Quick trip to Perdido Key Beach last weekend, much needed refresh. Most places were actually taking mask/socially distancing relatively seriously. NOT Florabama though. That place. [laughing] Had a quick drink outside and got TF outta there.

- Trips on the books (all with grain of salt at this point): Tahoe still on the books 2 weeks from now, Rosemary Beach end of August, Peru in November, couple local lake trips, and Belize rescheduled again til next May. Ha. If I get to 1/4 of the real trips, I'll be ecstatic.

- Surgical volume has stayed the same, ICUs aren't overrun...but we're short nurses. Super short. The big companies in an attempt to make up for lost revenue once we were over the initial surge cancelled contracts with all sorts of travelers, temp employees, PRN, etc; basically anything they could do short term to make things look better. Now we need people desperately and we're totally touched. Brilliant c-suite work, there.

- Post Malone Candy Paint on repeat. Just gives me some damn nostalgia.

- Sat next to Kacey Musgraves at a bar patio couple weeks ago, tried to send my single buddy over to talk to her just for the hell of it. Next day she announces that she's divorcing her husband. Complete missed opportunity. She was chain smoking like a MF'er though, [sick].

- Bought season MLS tickets for Nashville SC, and of course they're trying to get everyone to transfer credits over the next year. Yea, no thanks on giving you a couple thousand dollar loan for a year. Refund please.
