When dad would go out of town, it was a mortal lock:

1> a friend would spend the night
2> we'd rent some sort of karate/kung-fu/ninja action movie (always R rated, of course)

Team Mom, no question.

I’ve successfully gotten my kids to refer to watching Indiana Jones movies as “Doctor Jones.” - “I want to watch Doctor Jones!”

Similarly, I’ve convinced them to only refer to Garfield as “Lasagna Cat,” and to be almost too comfortable to point out that Batman is “The world’s greatest detective.”

If, at your most annoyed & frustrated moment in marriage you could simply walk out the door and go spend a couple months alone, at the beach, reading books, enjoying beverages and music on summer patios; focus a bit more on work and not deal with your obstinate, pain in the *** spouse, would you do it?

Time to come home randoms...

-Shot my lowest round ever Sunday (93 - no mulligans). Amazing what some consistent play and the range will do. I've also basically limited my club usage to driver, PW, SW, 8 iron, 5 iron, putter. Pretty much just put the ball in the hole in as few shots as possible, dipshit. Pretty good strategy, really.

-Spent two weeks at IOP around the 4th. Got tested before and after. All good. Neither test was that much of a pain in the *** but man it'll truly be fantastic when we can just do that ish at home with immediate results.

-Grilled swordfish, tho. Salt. Pepper. Lemon slice. Braised collards. Yellow grits. Rinse/Repeat. Good living. Ate a lot of fresh shrimp but somehow that got old.

-Can't Hardly Wait is my favorite 90's teen movie. I feel it's unjustly overshadowed by Varsity Blues tbh. Seth Green needs his career resurrected. Funny dude. Great roles.

-I've never experience life with as little interference from UofL fans as I have during all of this. I mean, I usually get filled with piss and vinegar about those jagoffs a few times a week during normal times. I've actually been caught a bit off guard when I've seen the Cardinal logo around town recently. Just an afterthought. Nice, but bizarre.

-Zaya rum and tonic. Lime. Enjoy.

-NOT POLITICAL: It's really stressing me out to see spraypaint on concrete buildings. Graffiti already induces anxiety for me, so seeing venerable old civic buildings with that **** all over them is damn near panic attacks.

-10 year anniversary last month. Barn 8 with some friends. Meh. Scenic but menu was downright bad and I paid $175 to eat in a horse stall so I mean that was pretty hard to overcome on its own.

-Salsa on the egg Sunday. Was good. Needed more on onion/jalapeno, but a couple dashes of Cholula made it sing. Recommended especially with the tomatoes right now.

-Finally read A River Runs Through It (And Other Stories). Was pretty fantastic. My favorite movie and it took me over 20 years to do that. Shame on me.

-I am pretty much purely in sales now (took me awhile to acknowledge that). I'm a rat on a GD Cheeto with prospects, which I wasn't quite expecting out of myself tbh. People have to tell me to get pumped before I stop. Suppose that's what it takes. I really love it though. Told the lass the other day I think this is the happiest I've ever been in my career, which given the circumstances is pretty remarkable. Reading everything I can about B2B sales and ish at this point. I'm going to stay invested in CRE personally, but not sure I'll ever go back to full time brokerage. I had enough.

-Nothing impresses me more in a nice home than an ancillary fridge stocked with all of the beverages one could ever hope for: beers, sparkling water, Gatorade, bottled water, etc. Just pure sex IMO.

-Good to be back. GBB!

#2 better not have curly blonde locks and love Werthers.

Just make sure she doesn't decide to simply walk out the door and go spend a couple months "alone" at the beach, reading books, enjoying beverages and music on summer patios; focus a bit more on work and not deal with her obstinate, pain in the *** spouse and you'll be OK, Tony.

Temple of Doom was banned in India when it came out. No one in America gave a **** about that.

* Grandfather used to always add a couple dashes of salt to his frosty mug and by gawd, it surprisingly hits the spot with your summer south-of-the-border cerveza or domesto.

* Caught the end of 'Funny Farm' over the weekend and sat there the whole time wondering how the hell Chevy Chase fell from 'Fletch', 'Spies Like Us' and 'Vacation' to that garbage.

* Pretty solid pitching duel out of the gate with Cole v. Scherzer in our nations capital. Nats with a top five pitching rotation along with some great young talent in the outfield + plenty of rest from the extended postseason for the vets and I like their shot at defending the title.

Just as interested to see what small market darkhorse team makes a deep run in the playoffs thanks to this abridged schedule.

* Incorporating garden-to-table basil in damn near every meal while it's sprouting.

* Caved in and purchased 'Yellowstone' season 1 last night. Solid start and the last decent show I can remember Costner in since Bull Durham. Montana also seems inviting right about now.

* Realized long ago B2C is for the birds. Dealing with John Q. Public's idiosyncrasies and bugaboos is not worth the headache.

* Not a fan of sweet old fashioneds but Ruby's take is an exception to the rule.

* If I'm dropping the coin on a home arcade system give me The Addams Family pinball machine. Wore that thing out many a weekend nights in the Village 8 lobby pre-driver license.
