Crazy week down here for watersports, specially parasail for both companies I worked for at some point.

One company’s owner dropped a capitalized HARD N Bomb on FB and the mob literally ran him out of town. Got his boat slip lease contract voided, reported him to the BBB, KW Business Guild, basically everyone. Then went after his family on social media. He packed everything two days later and moved back home. Honestly a friend of mine but made a really dumb decision.

Second one was the first company I worked with. One of my beat buddy’s has been captaining for 6-7 years and done literally 1000’s of flights. Apparently he was out in bad weather a made a poor decision to fly a couple anyway. Well they ended up in the water (not sure how yet) with the chute on top of them and drown (technically one still alive after life flight to Miami but doesn’t loom good). Also, one of the ambulances got T-Boned at an intersection on the way to the hospital, just for good measure.

My boy could be looking at manslaughter X2 depending on how it shakes out. Super sad for all involved.

I can't comprehend the level of stupidity one has to reach to drop a N Bomb on social media at any time let alone in the climate the country is currently in.

Florida man must be an infectious disease.

Teacher's unions are a real hoot.

The Los Angeles Teacher’s Union is one of the largest in the state, and the “United Teachers Los Angeles” say public schools should not reopen unless their demands are met.

Their demands include implementing a moratorium on private schools, defunding the police, increasing taxes on the wealthy, implementing Medicare for all, and passing the HEROES Act, which allocated and additional $116 billion in federal education funding to the states.

The unions demands also took aim at charter schools.

The United Teachers Los Angeles union says these policies must be implemented on both the state and national level before reopening schools.

Enjoy, kids!
There’s no way that’s real.

Right?

Right?

I hope not. Gives guys like me a bad name. But after reading some of the grievances by my fellow departmental colleagues (whom I love dearly), teachers are going to be their own worst PR managers.

Whether we go back to in-person instruction next month, next year, or next decade, it’s going to be an absolute shitshow from our vocal minority (majority?)

2020 is what happens whenever people start taking those BS filler classes from college seriously. Hell hath no fury like some whiny ******* with a liberal arts degree who think that means they know something.

Considering the extreme wave of anti-intellectualism and anti-science that has swept this country the last few years and only been worsened by the pandemic let me be the first to tell you to go get pumped.

As far as teachers go I have several good friends and a few family members in the profession. Some are seriously considering getting out of education over this all together.

I think there needs to be a middle ground where everyone is safe and protocols are handled but if my son was still school age I’d be lying if I said wouldn’t have a lot of concerns about him going back to school this Fall.

I’d argue it’s more visible now with cameras everywhere and social media. Hell, look at the crazy crap people did in the 60’s living in communes and stuff.

I think you have a valid point but like I said these views are becoming more and more mainstreamed. 30 years ago people talking about being anti-vax would be treated as looney tunes. Today we have politicians de facto supporting it in a lot of instances.

Spent maybe five minutes tracking down a few of the things in Geese Feeders link.

Looks like Los Angeles School district has its own police force and that is what they want to reduce funding from 70M to 35M.

but hey, don’t let facts and local control get in the way of your agenda. Maybe if you were a little less of a hysterical ***** then you might wonder why you get spoon fed facts that you want to hear.

Only someone like Joey could even try to compute this number but I'd like to see the breakdown of people who attend the Ark Encounter seriously versus ironically.

Much more in there than the police thing, though, assuming the article fairly states the union’s position.

As an agnostic libertarian, it's pretty funny when left or right want to accuse the other of anti- intellectualism or anti-science. Creationism or thinking any religious beliefs are fact, anti-vaxxers, gender fluidity, believing there is scientific consensus on global warming, etc., is all anti-science and anti-intellectualism.
