I appreciate teachers' concerns here, tbh. Even under the best of conditions, kids are germ-ridden monsters.
I don't. I mean, not anymore than health care professionals, bus drivers, in home services hvac/plumbers/electricians, restaurant workers, factory workers, call centers, farmers, meat packing plants, grocery store employees, etc, etc, etc. They're essential, and probably the most important essential employees we have. Kids are completely safe, the state literally has ONE, as in less than 2 more than 0, deaths under the age of 24. They're more likely to choke on a f*cking hot dog. They're not the super spreaders the media and politicians tried to scare us into believing. Countless studies have already shown this. More studies have show the damage to having them out of school is FAR greater than in.
So let the 50-60% who want to learn virtually stay home with any "at risk" teachers and get everyone back in 5 days per week. Don't allow teachers to mingle, keep kids in same groups, so if 1 group gets it you're not losing a whole school. I threaten my employees with everything I'm legally allowed to stay the f*ck away from each other. When someone tests positive they're off, you test the students, and get back to work. Just like every other business operating right now. We shut schools down all the time for flu and in this case, yes, flu is far more harmful to kids. We're talking about the safest possible group of people here.
I'm sure those scared teachers aren't hesitating to order their Starbucks, Amazon packages, and burn up click list.
This whole argument is absolutely insane to me.
