Since we're staying on fun, up beat topics and all, the drive home from a vacation is always so uplifting. Going through Atlanta traffic, in the pouring rain with a small child screaming in the back seat, 2 dogs and a pregnant wife that insists on driving....nirvana. Did I mention we didn't get off on the right exit for 75 and, instead had to drive on 85 for 20 minutes, because the HOV LANE DOES SOMETHING FUNKY, I FOLLOWED THE SIGN! K. Sure thing toots.

I typically have a hard and fast rule that anything more than 5 hours in the car and I'm looking for flights (gyeroman) but, having a young family and, the whole pandemic thing....what I'm saying is I'm going to need a very strong drink (multiple) whenever this leg of hell errr drive comes to its conclusion.

Had a cookout and cornhole last night. It was great minus one thing, ended up having two gals come over, one with chest beefers, the other with an *** for days. I picked the beefers and now the other won’t talk to me. Gotta make choices unfortunately.
I had a similar situation unfold during my semester abroad in Venice. Early on, I was taking two fellow exchange students: a chick from NC State and a German (former) ballerina and everyone in our small UK studio knew all about it. On a Friday night, I made plans to meet the German at Cafe Blue after dinner with some studio mates.

At dinner, there was scuttlebut that the NC State girl was going to be at Cafe Blue as well and it would all come down to this. Dinner ran late, the water taxis were running slow, so my buddy and I high tailed it over to Cafe Blue while the rest of our friends waited for the Water Taxi.

By the time I had arrived at Cafe Blue, the other guys had beaten us there, and were smoking outside, pretty giddy. They were expecting to see an awkward love triangle showdown (“The Decision”). They pointed out the big table the group was at and I went in to sit down across from the German and yuck it up. A couple minutes later one of my friends came in and took a picture of the table and I went back out to burst everyone’s bubble since the NC State girl wasn’t there and both plates were still spinning. They all laughed hysterically.

They quickly pointed out that the NC State girl was there and had been sitting next to me the entire time at the table. In the Pulitzer-level photo, I’m cheezing, the German is smiling, and the Wolfpack girl is not pleased.

Then I had an awesome time at Oktoberfest. College, man.

There’s a huge difference in posting in GYERO as opposed to Twitter, Facebook, etc.

Those other social media sites give an arena for what’s wrong with the world (especially the USA) to mislead and misinform the herd mentality followers.
Basically turned this country into a high school that never ends or evolves.

For those that don't know:

- We’re also having another kid this Fall, our third, and he’s due the same day as Anth and WS’s! I thought the pandemic was coming, but the clock is ticking, so we’ve been content with a homesteading Spring/Summer so far. Who’s a pessimist now?!?

- I’ve painted the ceiling, walls, trim, and doors of three bedrooms in the last two weeks. And hung some (sticker) wallpaper. One hallway to go and I’d like to go on hiatus, but I also want to just get it over with and stay in the groove of the evening prep and painting rituals. I may stay on this run until everything is repainted (September?).

- The kids’ rooms are cis gender normative to an almost obnoxious level. Benjamin Moore Aura Cat’s Meow (light pink) for the girl and Waterloo for the boy. (For the neutrals it’s OC-20 Pale Oak field w/ White Dove trim or go home, IMO).

- Zero time lost to commuting has really led to a paradigm shift in weeknight home improvement opportunities. Now there *just* enough time to knock out some goodly chunks of work.

- There’s no garage in our new place (converted to finished basement) so I donated my old Miata to StVdP. Now I’ve got a hankering for a new (used) roadster, but then I remember there’s no place to put it. If this WFH life holds up for both of us, I’m hoping for a quasi “one vehicle family” set up wherein my wife has a minivan and I have a very impractical little sports car. It’s in the works.

- Taking every other Friday off to take the kids swimming in my parents’ above ground pool (that’s older than me somehow) is turning into a nice lil’ summer.

Any of you honks have Directv or Dish? New house is about finished and Spectrum came out last week for a site survey. I’m about 850’ off the road so they want an insane amount to run cable back to me, have to get permits and ton of other red tape BS. So it’s looking like hot spot for basic internet and a satellite for TV, I’m out in a very rural area with few options.

Never had satellite so wondering how it is these days.

How much was their quote? I’m currently unable to get cable because our area doesn’t have enough homes (it does IMO). Currently working a little bit with the metro council rep as they are trying to get Spectrum to survey again.

i just cancelled Dish because it was $180 per month and with no sports it was a no brainer. Only internet is ATT DSL which is pure ****.

Rough estimate was 15-20k.

They have a line down main road a bit but I built 850’ from that road. They will run 300’ but anymore requires plant extension or something. It’s a private drive with only one more house going in about halfway down to me. So we would be only 2 the line services.

I have 2 acres dropped in the middle of 80 acres of wooded area so it’s not guaranteed I can get satellite reception because of trees. If not for UK games I wouldn’t give a ****.

Definitely won’t be able to stream much with data restrictions.

I can’t even get DSL because they require extra to run line back to me as well.

Myself, SAE, and Dan Rather refer to them as “The Greatest Generation.” And of course you now see why.
I’ve actually seen people *online* refer to boomers as the generation who fought in D-Day and landed on the moon and stuff so I get it
