Am I missing something or is Georgia completely getting a pass on the Confederate flag ban? Their state flag is literally the original Confederate flag with a seal in the middle of the stars.

Surely it doesn’t have to do with the giant stadium in Atlanta that hosts NCAA events every year.

Haha- they changed it TO that after the last controversy around 2003 or so_they removed the confederate battle flag emblem but what they have now (which was presented as a compromise) - I think it stems from people not really knowing what “the stars and bars” is....it’s not the flag that was on the DukesBoysCar....it’s basically the flag Georgia has now

I had just moved to Atlanta when the debate about changing it resulted in what they have today...it was kinda surreal when they rolled that out as the compromise and ppl were all happy

I'm gonna one-up all you non-woke chumps on Juneteenth with a proposal that needs to go national:

Juneteenth starts a two-week nationwide slowdown/vacation similar to the two weeks around Christmas and New Year's. It begins on June 19th and ends the day after July 4th. Call it the Freedom Holidays or something. It would be similar to what Europe does in August.

Controversial take though: Get rid of MLK day. It's right after winter break. Kids should be in school learning about that instead of off anyway.

Just call the last half of June "Exodus" or something and let it be.

I agree. We shouldn’t have to work every week but two to four depending on your deal. Let’s Europeanize this place and make it accessible for vacations.

* Y’all are all missing the obvious lawn jockeys connection to the checkerboard. Mitch, please, we don’t want that kind of negative stereotype associated with our university.

* When I was talking about going to help my daughter during Covid lockdown, I mentioned that she is a CPA for a wealth management company trying to work from home with two boys 4 years old and 2 years old during her incredibly busy crunch time at work.

What I wasn’t allowed to say was that she was in her first trimester of pregnancy and dealing with all that too.

So I am going to have a new grand-baby, due Oct 23, and this time it is a girl! Baby girl clothes shopping finally!! [smoke]

Was watching the second half of the Lynn Bowden Bowl presented by Dukes Mayonnaise tonight, and found myself reflecting on all that’s happened since I was happily getting hammered on my sofa on New Year’s Eve. What a **** sandwich of a year. Without even a squeeze of Duke’s.

Fate’s a fickle thing, tho, and the pendulum has to start swinging back soon. The odds say it has to. Laws of gravity and whatnot. Some Saturday in July we’re all going to wake up suddenly to a full slate of MLB games, Covid nothing more than a memory, the S&P at 3500, Sarr declared eligible, interracial peace and harmony, Bossman Fat doing whatever Bossman Fat does, and Krazy the proud owner of a distillery.

That day’s coming soon, folks. Just hang on for a bit.

Also, congrats, Terie. That is awesome stuff.

It would be the most SEC move of all time to just say to hell with it and start on time with fans in the stands and tell people to make their own decisions as to risk.

If there is an opportunity to go to Commonwealth Stadium this year, eat a hot dog, and watch Terry Touchdown chuck the pigskin with a killer defense -- I'm there. I also might drink a thousand beers and enjoy a little sunshine.

If you're bored this morning read this on Josh Gibson. The King of baseball lore.

According to the Negro Leagues Museum’s page on Josh Gibson, he hit a home run out of a park in Pittsburgh that cleared the fence and sailed out of sight. The next day, in Philadelphia, a ball came down out of the sky and landed in an outfielder’s glove, whereupon the umpire promptly yelled to Gibson, “You’re out yesterday in Pittsburgh!

Consequence of too much time on people's hands.

Between social security, disability, and unemployment, you’ve got most of the adults in Kentucky getting a monthly check from the government.

It's pretty astounding how 1) city governments are allowing this to happen (i.e., no police intervention) and 2) large corporations are supporting these activities (i.e., providing funding for the protests). I just don't understand the motivation.
Demoralizing normal people and creating a subclass of people who don’t have families and live their life to consume/be dependent on the government. Amazon and the government both would love nothing more than half the country to be welfare anarchists and the other half to be dutiful tax cows

Our mayor has the audacity to continue posting **** on her social media about “large gatherings” being illegal, mask mandates, reminding residents of the 3-1-1 reporting number.....

...these F’ing people are THE WORST.

She also had a press conference yesterday identifying two large Covid clusters that were originated from a birthday party and a local bar. Of course, not even the smallest hint of trouble from thousands of people protesting.

Go. F. Yourself.

This sort of **** makes me wish we could have yearly elections.

On the one hand, I loathe when politicians are campaigning on the job. But if Andy Beshear was up for re-election in November, we sure as hell would see daycares open at full capacity, schools open without restriction in the fall, and a whole lot of other obvious things that would actually allow the economy to go back to near normal without much additional risk. But his term is up in 2023, so we are stuck with him and his khakis for at least three more years.

I don't find it a coincidence that LaToya Cantrell has two years left on her term, too. It looks like they are hoping people will forget.
