Your 401ks should be much happier after today. Job report

I've never heard of virtue signaling, granted I don't watch FN, but the searching for anything that can be construed as racist in an effort to ruin someones life was easily predictable.

Good to see the tiff from last night deescalate faster than a hard prick around Lizzo.

* Oppression Olympics is impossible for anyone to win, still so many try.

* Seriously pissed off at MLB. I get that their union is more influential than all other sports but the fact they've had 85 days to get a plan in place and are still at the starting gate is a joke. Seeing as the collective bargaining agreement is up at the end of next year have a bad feeling about the '21 season getting lift.

* Humans will spend 44 years staring at screens. Sounds healthy

* Wolken was beating it to a pulp over the Bama news. Seeing him get his rocks off the past few weeks and I don't understand what enjoyment if any he gets from sports? Move on over to the political beat and let those who celebrate sports have a crack at it.

* Through all this decided that if the stork doesn't place a kid at my doorstep I'm done at 60. Corporate world is twisting itself in knots trying to placate everyone. Won't do the nomad runner thing like PTI; more refined with a spot in Arizona or place on the water in Naples.

Going to take some time but it’s a really good thing how accepting millennials and Gen Zers (I think that’s it) are. Keep eroding away with time, I hope.
You see how accepting the NY Times was of a different opinion yesterday? Seems we're as far away on free-speech as equal rights.

* Friday Five:
'Empty Spaces' - Pink Floyd
'Rock Superstar' - Cypress Hill
'Sausalito Summer Nights' - Diesel
'Let's Groove' - Earth, Wind & Fire
'Am I Evil' - Diamond Head

* In for a share on the GYERO barrel pick. @Wildcat Willy able to customize a label?

* Few more states open up here in the coming weeks and we should start to see momentum take hold in the market. Wouldn't be surprised at all if the Dow finishes with positive returns for 2020.

You haven't yet?

And a big swing and miss. Too bad you didn't one GD like. And that is saying something coming at me on this board. Usually it is easy, even for a **** stain like Mamba. Damn boy, you really suck at this.

Oh, and GFY.

These guys are starting to remind me of the "weird" Christians who sit around all day talking about how one constantly sins and therefore needs to continue to focus on finding grace.

Driving to the in-laws this afternoon for the first time in 3 months, they live out of state. Shaping up to be beautiful weather, but most importantly I’ll be drinking heavily, playing poker, and shooting the **** with all the males in my wife’s family while all the females attend to playing with the children and the such. And my god do I need this, god bless America. [cheers]

New PPP loan edits passed in Congress is absolutely fantastic news for business owners.

Nothing but positive COVID news the past month.

It’s happening folks, this surreal nightmare is slowly ending, things are shaping up for a great summer, watch as little news as possible and enjoy!

If there is anything positive to come from Covid, I would actually love to see a European style "take the month of August" off where it's just generally expected that a large proportion of the population - including in industries such as restaurants - are going to be taking a lot of time off. It doesn't have to be a full month, but I do think it's good for people to take some real time off - and not where there is pressure for folks in the service industry to work during that time because there's money to be made.

Would kinda dig being able to call vacation "holiday". Always thought that was pretty nifty nomenclature from across the pond.

-Yep, hopefully the new edits allow businesses to bridge the gap and not just dump employees in early July. Granted with the overall number of still unemployed because of excruciating continuation to drag out these dumb regulations it may be a wash. Fingers crossed.

-Great neutral piece on Covid vs Protests.

-Horsey Gambol Friday!!

It does have a religious element to it. Original sin. Public professions of faith and atonement. Liturgical rituals and rites. Punishment for blasphemy.

Yeah, Americans don't get down like that, unfortunately.

Yeah - but is a reason for that because we've never done it before? I think the first couple weeks of the pandemic - when we thought everything would be all better in two weeks - was pretty nice. Did people see the light? Is there a chance? Call it BLM month or something. ;)

We had vastly different experiences.

I get that. I think I was more on your side on that one. But a lot of smart people in the first week of March thought this was going to be a blip and treated the first couple weeks of stay at home orders like a vacation:
  • My buddy at Goldman Sachs sent me their internal view on Covid and were predicting worst-case downside risk of the market dropping like 10% and a slight risk of recession.
  • My client - exec at one of the oil supermajors - told me I need to have my team ready to go at their chemical plant on April 6. I asked her, "are you aware of this Covid thing going around?" Her response was, "Wayne, the natural life of a virus like this is to run its course in a couple weeks. It's not a big deal". This woman is like 6'1, 240 and 58 years old.
My point is - a lot of "smart" people didn't care or realize what we were dealing with.

Sitting in a park in Ouray, Colorado right now with our dogs and another couple friends from Houston. 72 and sunny. No humidity.

Because I inadvertently had a huge portion of my IRA in cash during the crash, daddy’s up big YTD. Yay, Dow.

There’s no reason Americans can’t adopt the August off policy, too. Just gotta live your life right.

We just took 2 months off...that worked well.

Our country is an on the go microwave/just in time society....has nothing to do with living your life right, regardless of how much $$ you have saved for the "August off". Believe it or not, your Ghandi regimen is way down the list of how people want to live.

We just upgraded our mattress, for someone with lingering back issues I'm kicking myself for not doing it years ago. Definitely a "get what you pay for" item worth dishing out a little extra coin.
Put my stimulus money to good use a little over a month ago and did the same. Went with Costco's Kirkland/Stearns and Foster model. Money well spent.

I went to a nature preserve a couple times, but other than that did not leave my neighborhood (other than some biking and running) since March 15. I loved every moment of it, but I'm coming from a place where I had to fly somewhere every single week for the last 15 years. Starting to get the itch to get back out there.
