- McClung doesn’t even seem real. Looks like the basket is 9’.

- Finally, May is here. :)

- Anniversary dinner reservations on the patio deck at Lisse in Mainstrasse for the 27th. Get out of the house. Lass gets to showcase that bump in one of her cute maternity dresses I bought her in January. Helping our local restauranteurs. I get a steak and DD. LFG

- Parents have their first smartphones. Seeing them trying to use it is like watching a monkey trying to F a football.

- Good article. Right down the middle so hopefully everyone enjoys.
https://www.nytimes.com/2020/05/14/...us-lockdown.html?referringSource=articleShare

- This is when America, nah THE WORLD, makes its comeback. I’m ready for some optimism.

- Random question for Soccer Guy. How difficult is it to prognosticate a prospect’s future success in soccer. In the Big 3, I’d say from easy to difficult for a high school level athlete, you’d go:

1. Basketball
2. Football
3. Baseball

-Great link, Chad. I linked our boy Portnoy over in the business thread but he nailed it as well, regardless of your thoughts on him.

-Still in the womb and already raising a soccer star? Didn't take you as the soccer dad. Figured you'd suggest the real American sports.

-CHURCHILL F*CKING DOWNS. Thank you, Jesus.

-In his typical maniacal fashion, BBDK has used quarantine to become one of the world's leading handicappers. That dude doesn't do any gambol half assed.

-Vitamin D is showing some serious benefits against Covid, for serious, so get the **** out this weekend and soak it up.

-Took rest of the week off to give WS a little relief and hang out with G? Installing some new faucets, lil rides, maybe cleaning out the garage, working on that tee ball swing, you know I'm going to grill out, drink some crispy boys. Dumb politicians aren't ruining my summer.

-Wonder if Cal has another card up the sleeve or just happy with what he has? Sounds like we took a pass on Williams which would be intersting. It's crowded in the front court but 5 guys with 2 being raw freshman isn't too much. Regardless, I like the team.

-Love to see someone try to tell Dr Bob and I we can't sit together and enjoy a massive steak next Friday. False.

- Nothing to do with my child. Was just wondering. There’s a reason why basketball players are easier to call at 16 than football or baseball players. Was curious about soccer. Imagine its closer to basketball.

- Have had a few buddies become amateur handicappers in horse racing through the years. Always amused me. Seems like a fun hobby. I don’t have the capacity for it though.

- Cal’s just being smart. No need to get fat. We have plenty inside. Unless Bachero wants to reclass, F it. Let’s go with what we got.

Chad, as with most sports, it’s impossible to know until all players hit puberty. 05 dominated his old 05/06 soccer class as he was one of the oldest kids, but struggled some (at least at his level) when US Soccer reclassified him as an 05 only. He is now one of the youngest kids in that class, and one of only 4 8th graders on his team. Everyone else is in HS. There are kids on the team almost a year older than he is, and the difference in physical development is glaring. But he has hit his growth spurt and the gap is closing for him. Coach said by the time kids are 16-17, everyone projects out correctly for the most part.

* <-- has witnessed the collateral damage of the stay-at-home orders on a daily basis. I live next to a huge house that's broken up into 4 rentals (including one occupied by the owner). The unit right next to my bedroom is a service industry couple. They've always been losers, but the lockdown has taken it up a notch. Nowadays, they've got $850/week in guaranteed income, and absolutely zero responsibility. At least every other day they'll sit out on their front stoop drinking, doing drugs, and screaming/fighting with each other. It would be amusing if it weren't so sad and pathetic. They've got free money, and nothing to do with their time. Bad combination.

But we aren't done yet -- there's currently a $3 trillion stimulus package moving thru the legislature. You've got one side that just wants to rescue everyone and everything with "free" government money, and you've got another side that acts fiscally responsible, but can't win re election without pumping up a terrible economy. So keep your eyes out for a nauseating battle over how to responsibly print and spend another $2-3 trillion.

Hollinger did his top 23 NBA draft prospects for the Athletic and what stood out the most was the lack of blue-blood programs having top picks...

Georgia
Germany
USC
Dayton
Iowa St
FSU
Memphis
Auburn
Alabama
Vandy
DePaul
Greece
FSU
Kansas
Israel
Villanova
UNC

-No Maxey, btw. Hollinger's are always really different than standard mocks though, he's all analytics.

-You can gambol for fun & small money (as I do), while still making it a priority to learn as much as you can about what you're wagering on. Seems like the sensible thing to do, and is a big part of the fun.

Tony is maniacal about anything he's really into as well, ftr.

Air Force Academy, if open, has a pretty cool museum and the campus is worth a driving tour. Takes about an hour tops.

Really believe Maxey’s stock was hurt by no tournament more than anyone. He had a 30-point explosion in his pocket.

.

Or it was hurt by him peaking in the last 10 minutes of the first game of the season.

Had a few moments, but the reality is that was just simply "ok" for most of the season - and shot horribly. I agree a huge Tourney would have really boosted him & it sucks he didn't have that opportunity - but I didn't really see anything to indicate that was more likely to happen than not.

I wonder how differently we would think of Maxey if he hadn't had that big game early. Feels like fans' frustration would've found its way to him a lot more than it did. (Of course it's fair that going for 30 and a last minute dagger against the #1 team in the country should buy you some grace.)

And Louisville. Kid was a big game Mike Casey type of player.

MSU was awesome but the kid and Cal had found his role by Florida. He would've continued playing lead guard more in the tourney.

Also, no telling how much Hagans stunted Maxey's growth. I'm guessing a lot.

When we needed a bucket late Maxey was the player with the ball in his hands driving for 2.

Congrats on getting likes from both ***** brothers.

Interesting that you make that argument when the consensus is usually that every young player we have ***** the bed in March.

Not having a tournament may have saved what little draft stock he still has since he didnt go 1-9 against Marquette in an Elite 8 loss.

The NBA draft is really amazing, considering how often playing the game of basketball can destroy your stock, where GMs try to determine how good you are at playing the game of basketball by watching you play the game of basketball.

While jockey and trainer are important to Capping Horseys, I , to me anyway think the horse's style of running and distance of race is where I have really improved my winning. Most novice bettors do not even factor in that. That and not bet the favorite EVERY race. If the track conditions and distance fits a 5-1 - 10-1 horse, I will play him, definitely put him in the Exactas, trifectas, and exotics.
I have noticed a bunch of times horses will be way over rated based on Jockey / trainer alone. if a Pletcher horse is in a race, IDAF if it is 3 legged, that MF'er will be 5-1 or less.

I have yet to meet someone who DOESN'T win and make money gambling, so I'll be happy to take tips from any of you.

Oh, never said I made money. I said "increased my winning" , you know winning more than I was. I have had winning years, and losing years (more losing) NOBODY makes money EVERY year, it is why its called gambling. But you knew that, you just had to portray your shtick.
But tell you what we can do pimp, we can have a little horse racing handicap contest if you would like. Name the track and day. We will post plays of every race at the track of your choosing. But of course there would need to be a small wager involved, name that also. And that is not me saying a am a Sharp or Gambling God, but I do know I can pick better than you.

-How lucky is Kentucky that parimutual betting is sinless fun?

-That Frederick Douglass program hasn't beaten anyone. Good for Lexington football, but they can come down to Germantown on a Friday night anytime they want as far as I'm concerned. #highschoolfootball

-IOP the 21st through the 30th. Fresh shrimp. Local crafties. See ya.

-Kentucky getting 17.5 points at Auburn next year is just hysterical. And dogs at Louisville after stealing their manhood just months ago? K. We are never going to get any respect, which I've just got to learn to accept. Good gambol at least.

Willie and The Hand Jive - Johnny Otis
Doo Doo Doo Doo - Rolling Stones
Walking in Place - Perpetual Groove
Going Down - Freddie King
The Corner - Common

-Most noteworthy architectural achievement in Kentucky in the last 30 years (bridges excluded)?

Miller House, Todds Rd - Lexington

I’d say Orson Wells pulled the best one-trick-pony in Hollywood history. If Michael Cimino would’ve gained 300 bills and been slinging rotgut wine whilst throughly smashed, maybe.
