I respect Nick Richards, but I watched him play ball for 3 years. No way I'm drafting him. I'd wait to see how he turns out before I invested in him, but I can see him having a nice long career as a backup C.
I trust him a lot more than Willie Trill Cauley-Stein. Nick put in a lot of work and became a player I never thought he could. Showed a lot of heart. His upside is tremendous, he's just a long way from there.
It’s amazing how quickly expectations drop off with each subsequent draft pick in the NBA. By the time you get past the lottery, a lot of teams are really just hoping for a solid role player. Nick Richards can and should be exactly that.
If you need a high energy guy to play defense, rebound, clog up the lane, and provide a minimal amount of offense, he's about as safe as you can get in the 2nd round.
