*My mother in law stopped by yesterday- I walked into the kitchen and saw that she had opened up my last box of samoas. Really set me off. Kept my mouth shut until she left and then informed my wife that this type of behavior wont be tolerated under my roof. You want to ask me for a girl scout cookie, odds are I may give you as many as 2. But to open a previously unopened box and just start snacking... good way to find yourself in deep **** with me.
*JMO, most colleges will have students on campus this fall- because they pretty much have to if they want to keep the doors open. You'll still see some small regional schools and liberal arts schools shut it down or end up being absorbed by larger state schools. Also the public and private sector alike still need to exploit the research being done on many campuses.
*It appears certain movie theatre chains are threatening to boycott studios that had success releasing movies straight to in home on-demand. So I guess that trend will end up dissolving- but I was hoping for it to expand. I'll make my own popcorn.
*Alabama slowly reopening, with the major exceptions being churches, salons, and we still wont have dine-in service for at least another couple weeks. Seems most are content with that approach. Actually, after getting a late start on testing, I think they've done fine handling it for the most part. And she's done it with fairly limited press conferences, just basically relying on the CDC and Public Health Dept to provide basic information.
*I believe we see some pro sports without fans this year, but just dont think we'll have college athletics until they allow crowds.
*Is today the Steamboat Race? When do we cruise Central?

Who is to say Mitch and all the coaches aren't working things out behind the scenes so there is a little uniformity about how it is announced?
Our new American slogan should be "shame first, ask questions later".
Don't know about the coaches, but a spokesperson for UK's administration released a statement explicitly saying they wouldn't take pay cuts.

Taxes were going to have to go up with or without coronavirus stimulus spending, expanded unemployment, etc. We were already running a $1 trillion annual deficit before any of this mess started thanks to that massive, unnecessary (mostly) corporate tax cut pushed through by the party of “fiscal responsibility.”
That’s the first place we should be looking to come up with additional revenue, so I’m sure it’ll actually be average Americans who end up footing most of the bill.

Maybe it's the BJW in me but I don't get why Richards' draft stock isn't higher. His ceiling might not be that high, but to me the floor is as high as it gets. How is he not going to be a back up center who plays good defense, protects the rim, gets rebounds, and doesn't hurt you for 15 minutes a game? He's got virtually no injury history, he's shown he works hard and is a good locker room guy. Even hits free throws. If I'm a contender drafting anywhere after 25 that's gold. Not every draft pick has to be the next Olajuwon.
His future is as a defender/rim runner...but he actually has a decent offensive arsenal that will continue to develop. If goofy *** JaVale McGhee can make a very good career of it, I don't see why he can't.
Heaven forbid our wonderful government actually learn how to balance a budget and quit wasting our tax dollars but we all really need to pay more taxes because they certainly will not waste that extra revenue......
I respect Nick Richards, but I watched him play ball for 3 years. No way I'm drafting him. I'd wait to see how he turns out before I invested in him, but I can see him having a nice long career as a backup C.
I trust him a lot more than Willie Trill Cauley-Stein. Nick put in a lot of work and became a player I never thought he could. Showed a lot of heart. His upside is tremendous, he's just a long way from there.

Its not a statewide thing. The mayor in Birmingham announced it yesterday (with certain exclusions including exercise). Its also only in the city limits of Birmingham which excludes the suburban areas (the largest areas). His reasoning was that the Birmingham city residents are disproportionately African American, many of which are elderly- and he felt that this would offer additional levels of protection for them.

Speaking of ^ Beshear has said multiple times that they need to figure out why African Americans are affected disproportionately and are focusing specifically on getting testing in predominately African American communities.
This is Kentucky though, the VAST majority of African Americans live in Lexington and Louisville where testing has been available from the very beginning.

It shouldn’t be odd. You see while us simpleton fans actually love sports, the sportswriters are a step above us. Sports itself is a mere banality that exists only to shine a spotlight on the dullards that follow it. Sportswriters are doing God’s work mocking us fools. These guys are all just one investigative piece on a high schooler away from writing op-eds for the Times anyway.

Fwiw, San Francisco fined people in 1918 for not wearing masks during the Spanish Flu. Most of those citations were thrown out after the pandemic ended. I’m sure it will be the same this time.

How do you explain tax revenues at all time highs? We can raise taxes and companies can start stashing their money overseas again if that is what you really want.

I’m not sold on Richards or Quick making it in the NBA, although I’m rooting for them as hard as any of our guys.
Again, tax revenues increased/all time highs and are expected to have bigger increases over the next few years though this will hurt next years expected increase.
Would like to see you and @Midway Cat explain why you think the deficits are so large and growing. It's certainly not tax revenue(all time highs).
