FYI Mothers Day is next weekend. That came as quite a shock to me when I looked it up. Thought we still had 3 or 4 weeks.

Monday Randos:

-Am I the only one who's 'burnt out' on corona? For the first several weeks, I watched the news all day, read every article, etc, etc - for the past week or so I've all but ignored it. Just over it. Tell me when we reopen.

-Awesome weekend on the links. We had our 2man Invitational, which was a full field of 60 teams, which we haven't been able to do in at least 5 years - Top players from clubs all over town and beyond came out and plugged through the weather. Calcutta, the works.

Golf is kinda like football when it comes to terrible weather. You'd obviously prefer it to be nice, but every once in awhile it ends up being more memorable when it isn't. In this case, everyone was clearly just happy to be out playing tournament golf & socializing, got a little extra hammered to make it bearable, and it almost made it more fun in a weird way.

-Carmen Electra man. Has there ever been an outright "badder" chick than her in her prime? I surely can't think of many, and she looks to still have it. Shew

Jenny was obviously unreal too. But cot damn she was obnoxious & annoying.

-In my 12th year at KFB, and am going to have a record month by about 20% despite coming off a quarantine and our office still being closed to the public. Should end up writing over 30 new homes. Bizarre.

-Friendly reminder that we didn't pick up Travis or Sestina until June. I agree w/ the KSR crew that it's likely our big man is going to be somebody who isn't even on the market yet. And on that note, I'll take an experienced Jr/Sr with decent production over a reclass big all/air.

-There aren't many things "funny" about this pandemic obviously, but seeing all your full-haired buddies 1 month+ overdue for a haircut definitely is...especially those who pride themselves on their lettuce and look. It was a rough homeless looking bunch all around this weekend.

-PTI(pti), you make your way to Jennings in your regional travels? Finished 'Murder in the Bayou' on Showtime last week - man, that's one backwards *** corrupt little town.

Also, the LA 'Parish' designation has always kinda creeped me out, for some reason.

-I miss the casino. :(

- Hit up Jax beach on Fri night with the wife, the pup and wife's friend. Great to be outside, breathing fresh air and seeing people go about their lives.

- There's some reports about younger people getting stroke/blood clots now. Read through several articles and it's so vague. Seems every time we look to take a step forward, someone wants to bring up a big MAYBE. 4 secondary risk factors to stroke are alcohol, depression, stress and diet. About every one of those is exacerbated telling everyone to stay home.

- The Venice skate park got filled with sand. Seems like a lot for temporary measures. Now it's being used by dirt bikers. Good backfire, idiots.

- BG treated his guys like dogshit. We don't and will never need that loser associated with the program. Rick is worth debating because he actually made fans happy here. This is UK, not a halfway house for you to rebuild your image. Pound sand.

- Going back to non-social distance golf will be a challenge. Have had a blast riding solo, jamming to my tunes and we're getting around quicker because no one is pulling flags anymore.

- Started Fastest Car on NF this weekend. Pretty good time-killer. They pit 3 sleeper cars vs a supercar each episode then a big race at the end of the season with all the weekly winners. What I didn't expect was how much these people built lives around their project cars. If you like seeing ridiculously modded shitboxes racing Lambos/Ferrari and others then you'll enjoy this show. Good stories with the drivers, too.

If there is one truth that Live PD has taught me is that LA is by far the most ignorant and effed up state in the union.

The Parrish nonsense needs to stop as well. At least get into the 20th Century with your locality designations.

Thanks GYERO. I didn't know Tarleton State was a thing and certainly didn't know that it was planning to go D1.

Following the trend, though, I would think Clarion would be the school to play against those others.

Is Dunkin Donuts coffee just a straight black (coffee) thing?

Fully aware of the nationwide worship, but as a mostly espresso/latte guy, I couldn't disagree more overall from that perspective vs Starbucks, when comparing the two coffee-based national mega chains. I do not enjoy Dunkin espresso concoctions, at all.

I feel the same about Heine Bros locally, fwiw. Their "Organic Fair Trade" offerings are Trash, imo.

Plenty of people feel that way about Starbucks, and it's obviously wayyyy overpriced. A lot of that is people trying to shun the popular choice, and I get it...but I worship, for what it is.

It's as reliable & consistent as they come, and no matter where you are it tastes the same -- and most importantly it's nearly always easily accessible. Very McDonald's like in that regard, and I respect that.

Does Starbucks intentionally burn their coffee before they serve it, or is there just something different in the flavor of their beans?

[pfftt]
They intentionally burn it in order to achieve a consistency of taste. That was the early strategy to make it all taste the same everywhere - like a Big Mac (now it’s different, but that’s why they had the dark roast as their standard fare).

Business Wars Podcast had a great series on the history of Dunkin vs Starbucks.

-The beach is scary place. So are parks and horse tracks without spectators. Even more scary would be one of these politicians missing their daily 1 hour + chance to tell us how awful everything is and we're still in the middle of the war.

-I prefer Starbucks(to DD) because of their cups and when I asked for a plain double shot of espresso they don't look at me like I'm speaking a foreign language. Plus, the preorder and pick up at Starbucks is about as seamless as it gets. Heine has the best espresso, never messed with any other places girly drinks so can't speak on that. Common Grounds in Lex does a good job. Drive Thru window on Richmond Rd is nice.

-Props to KK, I think, that recommended trade for coffee delivery. I like getting to try new versions and time it perfectly so I don't have to remember to ask WS to buy beans.

-Why can't people have a take without being over the top douche bags?
^F*ck you, pal.

-Speaking of douche bags with rational takes. Ryan, however old he is, I'd fight that little f*cker. His parents are the worst. F- Them. Don't wish physical harm but just something to get them off my TV.

-Should be putting final prep on the Oaks/Derby plans. Checking weather every 10 minutes. Picking the suit up from the tailor. Last minute fasting. Damn this **** virus.

Is any GYERO Man not sick and tired of subsidizing Kentuckians? Maybe the quarantine has kept us out of Speedway’s for too long.

- Chemex pour over when I have time. Mystic Monk Ethiopian is the current go-to. Any African coffee of decent quality, really.

- Cup of Commonwealth is the best cup in Lexington

- More like Charbucks lol
