Went on a bike ride date tonight with a group. What a blast. Ordered dominoes at her house after the ride and got in the pool. Paddling tomorrow.

Cracked the Weller Full Proof tonight.

*Really good* but not worth the secondary price tag that's still attached to it. Maybe this time next year it will hopefully settle in nicely <$100.

This week's overnight freeze burnt the **** out of my Japanese Maples. Bummer.

Speaking of Japan, if you put Last Samurai as one of your top 5 Tom Cruise movies I don't know how you effing operate.

- Rain Man
- Cocktail
- Top Gun
- Risky Business
- Jerry Maguire
- Edge of Tomorrow (honorable mention)

- My wife has upgraded from spending obscene amounts of money on useless throw pillows --- to area rugs. Do we really need a Ballard Design HAND WOVEN area rug for a 3YO's room that is already carpeted? FFS.

Food post cause there's no sports and nothing else is going on:

Re: Spaghetti sauce. I used to try basically every sauce in the store. Rao’s is good, but it’s like $7 more than some of the others – and the kids don’t seem to appreciate it any more than anything else. I switched back to Prego original but now doctor it up. My main move is after pouring the contents of the jar into the pan, pour some sweet vermouth into the jar and shake it around to get the rest of the sauce out and then dump that into the jar. Adds some nice flavor.

Been doing a lot of work with basil pesto lately. Got a big jar of it and have been throwing it on everything. Best result so far is a bow tie pasta with chicken. Nice little butter cream sauce with the pesto.

Homemade fish and chips has been solid too. Dark beer, flour, paprika, salt – mix into the consistency of pancake batter. Dip the fish in some flour, then in the batter, and then fry. Simple as that. Bought a bunch of frozen cod at a restaurant supply store and that comes out nicely.

Bread making has about run its course. I’m still doing naans and chapatis for Indian food, but bored with anything else.

Lastly, one more recipe for you and I have no idea where it came from, but a huge hit with the wife and kids. Cut chicken into cubes for kebabs. Marinate in curry powder and olive oil – with some additional salt, paprika and garlic powder. Grill the chicken. Serve with grilled vegetables (I prefer red onions and peppers) and rice. Also, make a sauce of 3 parts sour cream, 1 part mayo. Throw in a teaspoon (or more) of garlic powder, a pinch of salt, some pepper and a squeeze of lime juice. If you want to get real fancy, make some naan or chapati (very simple to do) and serve all that stuff in a wrap.

Is there a consensus best glass to drink bourbon from or do different bourbons pair with different glasses?
Supposedly... Jefferson’s Presidential 16 is good, but in a Norlan it’s a game changer. So before I pop that MF, you can be sure I will have a Norlan by then.

otherwise, I use a Glencairn.

To drink out of it doesn’t matter, but these snobs/nerds like to nose stuff from glasses with a narrower opening.

I found that out when I brought all rocks glasses to the barrel pick, and 2-3 guys brought their own glasses that were weird shaped(not glencarin).

They swear if you nose it then wait a minute the taste is different too.

Wtf? Do we need different type forks for different types of meat? Pretty sure people make this stuff up to feel important or special, ridiculous.

*If you can't have people over for a pour, just drink it out of the damn bottle and save resources.

*Ribs on the smoker and cold beer in hand. Wife thinks I'm nuts for sitting outside (covered) watching tv...too cold for her, I guess.

*30 pack took a beating, apparently.

*Tim Riggins as David Koresch is a bit distracting. Not as bad as Ruth from Ozark as a holy roller.

*The last 2 months hasn't really changed for me outside to going to a restaurant. Guessing because I still go to work every day and get out in the neighborhood for a while. Still, can't wait to be able to have people over for a few. I'll separate the bottles I took swings from (I haven't, yet). I'd do it now on a nice day where we can sit outside and distance ourselves.

It does... and significantly.

Is it all that much of a mystery that smell and taste are connected? Whose mother didn’t tell them to “hold your nose” when taking medicine as a kid?
