My boy has discovered MineCraft. The world he has designed is outrageous. I can’t decide whether to be proud and encourage it or worry that he’s going to be some weird architect that posts on messages boards and is an expert in pandemics.

He did say something smug about our TV being above our fireplace the other day so...

I started on html for my friend’s dad’s company website in 7th grade (‘95), then moved on to Duke Nukem level builders and putting myself (and the penguin from Billy Madison) in NES games. Be forewarned.

Keep away from architects as many are dopes. Go straight to construction side, then go in-house for developers, then set up an AEC review consultancy for the banks. I’m trying to make my way around the OAC table, but figured it out too late, IMO.

- The new house has a classic “TV over the fireplace is the only answer,” set up - but it’s not. Already have designs on the *correct* set up.

- In moving my family by myself, the last thing we moved (only thing I needed help to lift) was the TV. It was a real last helicopter from Saigon moment.

~I will say this...reading this board/thread does allow some sanity during this mess. I have met many on here, and would buy each of you a cold one at this very moment if we were allowed. It sure beats the hell out of seeing the same people at the office each day, even though I am blessed to be considered "essential". Wishing you all to be safe and hopefully w/ as little stress as possible.

~Toughest part of this...not being able to see my daughters and 1 yr old (next week) granddaughter on a regular basis.

~CV19 movies watched...A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood, Joker, Blinded By The Light, Mary Poppins, Just Mercy, ConAir, Road House, Godfather II.

~Thankful for the golf courses in CKY that are still open...that has least been a saving grace to get outside and play 9.

~Gonna be one helluva busy travel season this fall....Destin, LV, NYC, Orlando.

~6 ft, we'll get thru this, we know it's hard, and all of the other Andrew bs. People need to earn a buck and very, very, soon.

Enjoy what you can.

-Ursch, haven't seen you mock the economy in a few days. 6 million new people out of work and the stock market is rolling. for no big setbacks and I'm sure it'll be rocky road over the next few months but I love the optimism from the people not paid to incite fear. Let's get this sucker slowly back on track and people working in a couple weeks.

-Appears the virus was not spreading around here in December. They've got it linked to late Jan and early Feb.

-Made smashburgers (to-go) for the normal Wednesday night crew and finished over a zoom call. In person is much better but just talking to people outside the network is great.

-Stayed up way too late after the early tornado warnings in Cincy to make sure they Lex ones were just TStorm. Lexington's civil defense system is dumb. If you're more than 200 yards you can't hear what the dude is talking about. It's not loud at all. Can that stupid **** and just blast the siren.

-Yoga, been on my to-do list for 5+ years. I'll get to it.

-Pretty much gave up running 2 years ago after back pain made it not worth it. Been wanting to give it a go one more time to see how the back holds up as I've got that back pain eliminated but starting over sucks. Does help I'm in good shape otherwise but those first couple weeks will be awful. Ideally back to just easy 3 miles a couple times a week.

- Went to one Barre3 class with the wife last year. F that.

- Giovony’s latest big board has Richards and IQ mid-50s. Sounds about right. Give us one more year, boys.

I’ll mix in some yoga. Was starting a recorded workout from our sports club when everyone came down to the basement because of #storms.

Hey, @wildcat1973. Are you doing homes out there tech world? If so, what kind of fun, obnoxiously expensive stuff are you putting in out there? Magnetic field light switches, solid surface wall paneling in bathrooms, Axor everything, “ludicrously smart” smart home tech, etc? Any cool vendors/artisans to share or is it all pretty normal stuff but nicer finishes?

- Storms last night brought down a tree in my elderly neighbor’s backyard. Looks like I’m going to have to shut down the remote office this afternoon and fire up the chainsaw. A very welcome diversion to get outside and do a job that actually feels satisfying when you complete it.

- What is the protocol for out of office auto replies right now? The usual “I am out of the office...” obviously does not work. A professional and proper option that could work: “I am currently unavailable and will be unable to respond to emails until...” A more honest option: “Please be advised you and your email message suck, please get pumped.”

- Not sure if I’m going to stream Easter Sunday mass at my house. I know it’s the right thing to do, but it just seems lame. Plus there is zero chance my kids would even consider sitting down and watching that and they may well mutiny. I feel that a mutiny may be imminent anyhow.

I’m not an economy ball, therefore I can’t understand why/how the stock market is climbing. Are all the really rich people gobbling up as much stock as they can so they can own the country? Or is this a sign of good news coming our way soon? I mean, I thought the DJ was supposed to be sinking to 15k. Sucker is at 23+ and going nuts this week.

Losing 3 guys to late 2nd-to-undrafted status would indeed be maddening, but I'm fine with Hagans leaving and Richards is a Jr big man, and that's different -- I just don't know what else he could do to raise his draft stock at this point.

This is such a unique position for players and schools to be in. It's hard enough to hold onto players who give their services for free, but now we're asking them to do the same......and maybe not even play. :joy:

Pretty crazy to think we're essentially begging them to come back and we're not even sure they can, you know, actually participate in the sport. The sooner there's a game plan for getting the season going, they better our chances are, imo.

No one does. Hope this helps.

Also, I never feel better after a workout than I do a yoga one. I use a streaming service from this dude named Travis Eliot. He's a good instructor, and he always makes it a point to feature large-breasted women prominently in his classes.

Not sure if you saw it, but there's about $2.4 trillion of Monopoly money that just got injected into the economy. The stock market, generally speaking, likes that.

Fitting for where we are as a society when that's the top trending show and some dipshit reporter is asking the President if he'd pardon the main character during a global pandemic.

My brother-in-law is a huge economy ball, spent years working for an investment company. He doesn't know what's going on either and is being very conservative with it. He's focused on getting blue chips at the discount and I think a lot of sharp investors are doing that as well.

Everybody knows this sucks but nobody believes it's gonna last forever.

Perceived good news about the virus. At least that's what Fox Business and CNBC are saying.

The guys moving on isn't as maddening as missing on our main targets. Cal, missed on SIX big man recruits last year. SIX. He has Kenny Payne and coached AD, KAT, WCS, Cousins. How does that happen? Losing 4+ guys isn't anything new. Unfortunately, scrambling in the spring to fill holes has become regular and that sucks.

Also, not having 2 or 3 guys that are here to develop.

Tadelakt is a finish I’ve never used. Have it all over the master bath and kitchen. Interested to see how it turns out.

Fleetwood windows are pretty standard at this price range. Window package with installation is about $250k. 36 foot sliding door in the great room (amazing btw). The moment frame steel making this opening possible along with the steel vaulting the great room is pretty complicated for an otherwise simple house frame.

Pretty extensive solar installation with Tesla power walls.

Tons and tons of shear walls and strong walls. Welcome to California!

This isn’t a passive home but we are very green. FSC lumber, radiant flooring, spray foam, green framing techniques, Prosoco waterproofing, etc.

Cabinets and tops are very modern style, and have a flush detail everywhere. About a $250k package when all said and done.

Landscaping, hardscaping, pool, arbor, and pool house runs about $1.5m.

Almost finished with MEP work and about to put permanent roof on. We’re still going back and forth on the Lutron and smart house stuff.

Ozark is one of the rare shows that keeps getting better and better

Totally confused on why it’s a given that our late 2nd founders are probably leaving, was still under the impression that most of our guys that leave are first rounders.

Will forever be grateful to all this time I’ve spent with my 3 year old daughter, she’s been loving it, will miss our morning tea parties when I get back to work

weather has been nice, economy rebounding, lots of good news about slowing the curve. Once we get back to normal there will be a great energy and excitement, can already feel it building.

The stock market is up because of perceptions. One, it is perceived that people are going to blow their stimulus/super unemployment money immediately. Two, the death numbers in America are much lower than the projections which gives hope that things will go back to normal sooner rather than later.

Well you have two guys recruiting their asses off who are on tape admitting they paid kids. And their administrations don’t GAF.

The funniest part is ... people think Tiger King is outrageous. But have they seen nine seasons of Shameless? It makes Tiger King look like heterosexual kindergarten.

Bernie hasn't had a chance in a month and every investor knows that, but thanks for Infowars POV on it. Definitely make sure you invest heavily based on your political opinions.
I did invest in my political opinions and got 5k rounds of ammo and started building ARs

Bonzo,

Marking him down as against drug infused enslavement of young addicts, animal abuse and murder as a form of comedy. What a wet blanket!

Can someone explain to me why TVs shouldn’t be hung over a fireplace, exactly? Is it because folks in the 1800’s didn’t do that? Is it because it takes away from staring at the fireplace? I don’t get it. If Don Draper had a 72” flat screen I’m pretty sure he’d hang it above the mantle too so all of you shitting on my tv over my gas insert fireplace can taste me.

Only better post workout feeling is swimming but it's a hassle in a small town to find an indoor pool open for lap swim and obviously not an option now...although if this thing goes through the summer I might piss my neighbors off and buy an above ground pool.

Re: yoga. If this Eliot guy can get me into a 30 minute workout that I can do in the morning before the kids and wife wake up and not have me laying on my back listening to rain forest sounds, meditating and what not then I'm in. I get that that's part of yoga but I just want to burn calories and increase my ever decreasing flexibility and strength. I'll meditate over a Miller Lite.
