To make it even dumber, I believe one of the biggest limiting factors is not figuring out the chemicals or whatever, it’s not having enough of the stupid little plastic bits for the swabs.
My water heater (gas) and furnace/ac are in a separate room upstairs, not really in "the attic." It's basically a larger utility closet, so I don't know if that makes any difference.

A *slight* correction was coming but nothing of this scale and magnitude. At the start of 2020 our firm's economists and most others did not see a large sell-off until 2021, with 2020 still being positive, but not at the 30% clip like '19. Interest rates were still historically low as was unemployment and there were no outside factors to disrupt a humming system. Going off historical data that matched up with every year the Dow hit 25% growth or higher; the economy wouldn't match it but still be positive then slow two years later.
Only world wars have bucked that trend. In many ways, this is the equivalent or worse for our country as we could actually ramp up production of certain goods, ration others and also you know, leave our homes without fear of an undetectable threat.
Out of the box idea here: we ought to load up every college kid without any preexisting conditions or obesity and give them a two-month long cruise. Have a few ventilators on it just in case, but the hospitalization rate for this cohort is like 0.2%. Gets the teens out of the way for a while so they don’t unknowingly give the virus to seniors.

That thing killed 20M to 40M worldwide (equivalent to 60M to 120M today) and 670k Americans (equivalent to 2M today). In other words, it was roughly 10 times worse than this one in terms of its effect on the U.S.
And the average victim was in their 20s, not their 80s.

Indeed, I think we should be mass testing. You reading anything about COVID? Turns out “healthy,” asymptomatic people are spreading this, not just “sick” people. In a city/state with a death rate around 4-5%, it’s extremely sad that more people aren’t getting tested voluntarily, and for free. Sites were being shut down due to lack of demand.

Unless you plan on welding people into their homes or test everyone daily.....I'm not sure mass testing can make a huge impact.

Also since it's gas it doesn't need new electric and a drain pan up there will only hold a couple gallons of water and if he can run a drain expell enough to fit through a 3/4 pipe. So that's pretty useless when you're dropping 40 gallons of water.

Identify and isolate. Once we get rampant testing things will slowly open back up. I hope the Abbott tests work and come online quickly across the country.
