It's just one big f'ing game of picking winners and losers. I don't give a **** if you're a poor single mother, a non profit that cares for the elderly and disabled, a church, or the biggest, richest corporation on the planet -- how about we set a very low tax rate, and EVERYONE pays it just the same.

^ will never, ever, ever, ever happen, btw.

I understand someone that has a good paying job that’s been laid off needs help. However, for every one of them there’s 5 that don’t make that much each week. Gonna be a run on big screen tv’s and AR’s with the influx of free cash BJW gets.
And of course since the legislators had to have 5 days of meetings to get this through they decided to give themselves a raise.

The stimulus checks are phased out after $75,000, and zero'd once you make $100,000/year.

So I'll help everyone out with some friendly advice -- it you get one, maybe just keep your 5-figure income to yourself. We've got baller muscles to flex around here. #gatorboots

BJW already has ARs we are looking at some NODs with the trump check. Maybe some ceramic body armor if we have kids

If blowing the cash on AR-15s is a reason to block someone’s stimulus check, there’s about a dozen regular GYERO posters that are SOL. Maybe more.

-The first national title game I clearly remember watching live was the 1983 Houston-NCSU game. Watched it back last night. The spacing and passing was immaculate. Very few ball screens. Had forgotten how much of a monster Thurl Bailey was in the first half. Even with the spacing/passing, the offenses were so patient, and the shooting so average, that the scoring was at a premium. Houston was just filled with jumping jacks at every position, flat owning the glass in the 2nd half.

But the most noticeable difference was how good it was to have actual coaches with personality on the sidelines. Valvano being Valvano, and that old curmudgeon Guy Lewis hauling that towel everywhere as he barked at the refs. Miss having memorable coaches on the sidelines instead of the mostly corporate-looking stiffs we have now.
.

The first title game I can remember watching is the 1982 game.

Been on a nostalgia trip this week. Watched the UK-Georgetown game from 1984 last night. Master and Beal couldn't make an open shot to save their lives that second half, Bowie didn't get his usual stuff to fall either, James Blackmon stealing the ball and missing a layup, etc. Oh well, glad I could get my adult perspective on it. Probably the second most devastating UK loss in my lifetime. Didn't realize it but looking back on it, two of my top 5 heartbreaking losses happened the first two years I can remember watching them play (Dream Game loss the other one).

Have never seen the UK 1978 title game so I have that queued up for tonight. Wish I could find the 1975 tournament game where UK upset Indiana. Going to pass on that '75 loss to UCLA in the final though.

Of course they are gonna spend it. But why give THAT much money to them? It’s not like it’s going to small businesses...they’re closed. It’ll go to Wally World and the bigger companies.
I have a friend that was a brick layer until his back and knees gave out. He made good money but now can’t work and is on disability. He’s 64 and gets $1,200 a month less $150 for insurance. He’ll get $600 one time just because he’s on disability. Not $600 extra every week for 4 months. Of course he’ll be happy having an extra $600 but why shouldn’t he get the same amount? He paid taxes for 40 years.

-One of the more surprising developments to emerge from this crisis is that my elderly dad somehow figured out how to join a Zoom call last night. That's a 16-seed-over-a-1-seed level of upset right there.

-I miss the UKIT. Bring it back. You already do it, essentially, by playing scrub teams a few weeks earlier in the Keightley Classic or whatever it's called now. So just move it around. Two consecutive nights, the weekend before Christmas. The Wildcat in a Santa hat. Even let the other two scrubs play a consolation game. I don't know, man, I'm just nostalgic for stuff right now.

-Sorry for what I said yesterday about you getting pumped, Anth.

Biggest difference to me between today and those games from the 80s is the physique of the modern player compared to back then.

Not sure what a 2020 volleyball scene is supposed to look like but you’re welcome. And none of those girls are mine, they’re what we call friends. Try it some time! :sunglasses:

Used to be able to find the '75 IU game on YT with Cawood's call sync'd up to it. The '78 Arkansas game is a good one to watch also, poorly officiated for both teams Hogs especially. Watched the '78 ME Finals vs. Sparty earlier today, another nail biter in that run.

I'll ***** about Corporate Tax cuts if it means them groveling at our feet every time something remotely bad happens then turns around and juices their stock with some bastardized inverse version of socialism that eventually results in the deficits we see today. The only difference is that this is only a problem when the President is a dem. Remember the backlash over the stimulus package of 827 Billion just over a decade ago? We're just making **** up now.

Also, while tax revenue is higher than ever, it's also made up of more income and payroll taxes by in large. So, we're about to bail out a bunch of industries that Fly corporate flags in other countries to further avoid taxation and have multiple states that have eviscerated their budgets (NC did this with Chiquita a few years back) through corporate tax cuts just to have the company walk as soon as they were up. If corporations truly are people, they can fail too sometimes.
WCC liked this [laughing]

He has absolutely no idea what any of that means other than it says democrat.

Nets! Bus! Police! Coliseum!

‘Fellas, I want us to be careful cutting the nets down. We’ll use a ladder and scissors. No knives. Nobody hanging from the rim. We’ll all go home on the bus. Nobody goes with their parents or friends. When we cross the Ohio River, the State Police will meet us and give us an escort to the Coliseum where we’ll celebrate. Let’s go play.”

* I just don't have the heart to watch old NCAA games. I fully support everyone doing it but I feel like it will just depress me more about the loss of basketball. If I knew we would have a season next year, that may change.

* On the one hand, I think Andy Beshear is doing a great thing by holding a daily briefing to keep people informed and calm. On the other hand, my wife watches that like crack cocaine and gets anxious and it takes almost until bedtime to calm her down to be her normal reasonable self. I might try to get her to watch it every other day or something.

The good thing about Uncle Andy's daily briefing is that it is far better than having everyone glued to CNN watching apocalypse-porn 24/7. This way everyone knows to tune in at 5 everyday and get an info dump in 30 minutes.

* I seriously encourage everyone to watch Scott Adams' periscope from this morning. He went on a jag about how celebrities and politicians are receiving the cocktail of drugs that Trump has alluded to and there appear to be no fatalities from those receiving it. Kind of an inside baseball look at things from an interesting perspective:
https://www.pscp.tv/ScottAdamsSays/1ypKdQAEPdqGW

* I own guns and I hope it pisses PTI(pti) off. If I get a stimulus check, I will also put it straight into the stock market, possibly in gun stocks.

* The Patriot on Amazon Prime is really good couples viewing. It is hard to find a show that my wife and I can both enjoy and it does a great job of combining quirky humor with some action and intrigue. Big fan so far.

* During the run up to the quarantine, I bought a slow n' sear for the Weber kettle and some high quality thermometers. Thus far, I'm pretty pumped at the increase in my grill game. According to Meathead Goldwyn, that's where to start. He appears to know what's up.

Stealing a convo from the HOB but thoughts on Hagans returning?

Kid drove me insane in 2020 but I like WCC's point about maturing into Frank Mason. Talent is obviously there he just needs to grow up. Much easier to do at UK than Des Monies.

His major flaw- decision making - tends to improve with age, akin to a QB. That said, I’d certainly prefer IQ and Cal would need to drill it into his head he’s a distributor.

If he would learn how to finish at the rim I think we could live with a few boneheaded turnovers.
