It’s going to jump. This is a big country. There are a lot of people here. Probably more than 20k cases in the next week or so. So don’t freak out about it when it happens. Because it will happen. Beyond that is the unknown.

I'm going to be really interested in the long-term effects of this:

(1) Will there be a concerted push - by both parties - to bring manufacturing back to the U.S.? Pretty clear that we are way too beholden to China to make our cheap **** at slave labor rates. I'm not sure the whole "service economy" deal is working for us, tbh.

(2) Will telework become even more of a thing? I think business/government/etc. will come out of this realizing that a lot of what they do can be accomplished by people in their pajamas.

(3) Will I get a free money check? Because I deserve it.

Maybe science will make a comeback after being **** on by a certain segment of the population the last decade.

I don't want to defend China because they're abhorrent and I don't want to place blame anywhere else because this is a complicated problem, but we're all saying China is a **** show while we buy their dirt cheap products every single day. The world economies are all connected, none more so than the U.S. and China. How do we as a country remove ourselves from that human rights hell? And how do we do that not just as individuals buying American and sharing videos of Hong Kong protests, but as a nation with public and global policy? Because as things currently stand they're just doing the dirty work we want done but refuse to do.

Everyone is realizing how dependent on China we are now more than ever. This is the wake up call. If companies weren't already working their way out then now is the time to start. You can't tell me this country can't figure out a way to make a flashlight in the USA while turning a profit. We just haven't been in a situation as real as this where we can be held hostage on support from the same country that started the mess. Time to stop making excuses and start acting.

The China tariffs were put in place to level the playing field against China. My company is working away from China suppliers but it is going to take a couple of years. Still with 30% tariff on products they are still cheaper than most countries for parts with a lot of labor.

Things that people are realizing from all of this:

- Consuming product and waiting for next product to consume is ultimately pointless and fruitless

- We need to be connected to our families both for moral and material support

- An economic system based on fiat currency and usury is impossible to maintain

- Democratically electing politicians means in times of crisis you get half of the country fighting the other half because something that should be totally out of the minds of the average person is never allowed to not be front and center.

- We all need and have a goal outside of our own wants and needs that propels us to do good

If only there was a nice, compact, ready-made worldview/belief system that could coalesce all of these disparate ideas. Maybe one that was used before, rather successfully. If it worked for hundreds of years, even better. I just can't quite put my finger on what that may be.

Can we take a step back from declarations of martial law and complete economic ruin and mass suicide?

Step by step you slow things in society and government for a bit, give the population time to brace itself and prep without panic. You buy our healthcare providers some time to prep the best they can and reduce the onslaught of cases needed to be treated at one time. Then, you take this thing week by week, eventually you have to start activating society again even under the precaution of encouraging your high risk demo to continue to stay at home.

Jobs will be lost and businesses will go out of business but from that opportunity will rise, a buyers market will develop and creative hard working people will find new ways to make money.

Have a quarantine and chill, keep your most at risk safe.

Martial law will be essential, while hopefully not needed to the fullest extent or maybe much here in KY, police will not have the manpower nationwide to handle a massive event of this proportion. Luckily we have the finest military the world has ever known to not only assist police, but help provide a network of essentials. Without the men and women of our military we would be in far deeper ****. One thing is already abundantly clear, people cannot be placed on an honor system and trusted to do what is right. Right now the Pentagon is already allocating emergency equipment by dipping into their reserves of
ventilators and masks which were meant for our military under threat of bio warfare. The Army Corp of Engineers will be tasked with building a network of
medical and social facilities and they will get the job done. It's time for some nation building in our own nation.

Folks this is not China, we can trust our military to protect and defend us domestically in one of the most uncertain times of our nations history. We must focus right now on saving as many lives as possible, making sacrifices that a month ago we would have scoffed at and get past this unmitigated disaster
as soon as we can. Let the jobs and economy sort its self out on the other side and just focus at what's at hand - yes, it's going to be hell, but we got this!

If only we could go back in time and use corona to stop that NCAA tourney. Then we would be 34-0 for all eternity and make ******** Kansas-like claims on the National Championship and have a much stronger leg to stand on while doing it.

Lol. There isn’t going to be martial law. Hell we were shutdown yesterday and now we’re back open. I spent the entire day on the phone trying to find out what was going on. As did many people. The government was bombarded with calls. Police have no ******* clue here. Do you know how many people they could’ve arrested yesterday? They were literally on tv last night telling people they weren’t going to arrest them. Yeah let’s arrest somebody for working when he’s trying to get money to feed his family. When half the businesses are open. But his business isn’t. Please. That’s a really bad look.

Gtfo.

You know, something hasn't felt right about the economy for a few years now. I mean, we've got people happily paying $6 for a cup of coffee, $400 for a beer cooler, $20 million to buy out a terrible football coach, and $1500 for a small couch to sit on and watch Travis Scott play his Spotify. This wasn't really the correction we were looking for, but we shouldn't be blindsided by it, either.

I don't find Kaylee Hartung hot. She's generically attractive and seems cool but whatever. Not like my BBW princess Toots Palumbo. Now that's a serious blow from this Kung Fu Virus.

Do we even have a consensus #1 smokeshow in Kentucky right now? I can't think of one.

Candidates?
