I actually think it would be amazing if they just put one BJW on the search committee. Just some guy from Lancaster or Hodgenville to keep everyone honest. May not be a bad idea for the AD to employee the fella permanently.

As soon as Tennessee went Nike and incorporated checkerboards into their uniforms, they were dead to me.

screw that. Plus, we have won **** with them.

Who could forget this ******* leading the charge with the racist narrative leading up to the Cornell game in the 2010 Sweet 16. Ahh, a bunch do good wealthy, white kids from the Northeast playing a bunch of inner city, poor black kids abusing the sanctity of college basketball by using it as a platform to play the game at the highest level and make millions of generational type wealth money.

I don’t think I’ve ever been so fired up and that includes Forde & Thamel going through extreme
measures to get Bledsoe’s high school transcript to ruin his career all because of a personal vendetta against Cal.

Then Mags went on Shaughnessy’s radio show to defend UK’s players and despite those New England chap ******** playing banjo music in the background when Mags spoke he absolutely ran circles around them.

Man, I miss those early Cal days. The elite level talent. The us against the world deal. Cal constantly taking shots at Pitino/UL and backing it up. All of it. It was intoxicating.
Pretty sure Cornell had a suicide problem at the time that I may have exploited for personal entertainment.

I don’t hate the uniforms nearly as much as others. Good fit. Actually blue and white. The checkerboard is trying too hard but besides that, not a bad uni.
They just aren't good enough to sport for half a decade, that's all.

The checkerboard, as stupid as it is, doesn't offend me as much as I think it should be used in a subtle and creative way. I'm sure my nemesis Wildcat Willy could come up with something cool in 45 minutes. Meanwhile, Duke and UNC have a new alt uniform every other week.

I don’t see that it’s BJW to consider Mark Pope as an option if Cal leaves sooner than later.

In his first season at BYU they played KU pretty tough, and after getting beat by 30 against Gonzaga his team bounced back and beat them a few weeks later.

I absolutely think he is a coach to keep an eye on.

Quite the resume!

Clearly I agree. Building up a Utah Valley St was impressive enough for BYU to take a chance on him and he has them competitive, top 17 ranked in the nation and could possibly be a sweet 16 team in year one.

I understand he has more to prove, but I’m projecting that unlike Ford(despite a bounce back at SLU), Pelphrey and even Shaka Smart that Pope will in fact be a success because of what I see from his team.

Not just one or two players carrying their coach to a promotion.

If Wilder "lost his legs" due to wearing a 45 lb costume while he slowly strolled 50 yards over a flat surface and then climbed up a half flight of stairs to get in the ring then I'm not sure he is fit for any sort of rigorous athletic activity.

Let's wait for Pope to turn some heads at Georgia when their folks get tired of (or creeped out by) their current coach before we hand over the keys. Maybe that.

Speaking of Day Drinking - crew tore up the SportsBook Saturday. What a crazy *** blown cover, turned miracle backdoor. 90% of that place was on UK and having a complete meltdown watching our ********, which turned to extreme jubiliation at the buzzer. Our table had about $700 on it. Fun times.

Richie should charge admission for those lucky enough to watch a game with him, btw :joy: -always an experience.

Had an absolute blast, doggy. Great crew. Heckuva Saturday afternoon and into the evening. The ending of the Cats game with the backdoor cover was hysterical while seeing everyone’s reaction. We need to do it again.

There are a couple utterly moronic coaching selection opinions out there that for whatever reason continue to get traction in today's world, even with you’re everyday Joe understanding analytics.

The first, which especially applies to football, is that the skills needed to be a good coach transition over seamlessly from being a player. You see this a lot when the left is complaining about the lack of black head coaches - even though the percentage of black head coaches roughly align to the proportion of black people in America.

The second, and this one's less logical than the first, is that being a player from a particular university or team is going to make you better suited to be a coach at that college or team. All this Mark Pope talk is evidence of that.

That "FSU" font on the headdress looks like a bunch of swastikas. I guess that's a bit worse than our fornicating birds and Houston logo

Our coaching hires have followed a pattern ever since Rupp: Hall of Fame coach; solid, championship level/not HoF level coach; drunk/cheating coach we'd like to forget.

Rupp
Hall
Sutton
Pitino
Tubby
Billy
Cal
?

Next will be a Joe B./Tubby level coach, hopefully more like the former.

The “replacing a HoF” guy also has a connection to the one he replaces. Cmon down Josh Pastner, imo

I think the Sutton = Billy G comparison that people make with that coaching pattern is an insult to Sutton.

Had what happened to Sutton happened in 2020 UK would have lawyered up, denied everything and hired Snoop Dog to perform at Big Blue Madness.

They enjoyed their adult beverages but that’s where the comparison ends, imo.

Eddie Sutton was pretty damn good at Oklahoma State after leaving here. Billy Gillispie went 8-23 in his lone year at Texas Tech and had 15 (?!?!) players leave the program during his tenure, per Wikipedia.

We aren't really comparing apples and oranges here.

Eddie should have bought Sean another necklace and some baby wipes, imo.
