Since Sturgill seems to relish playing the role of the contrarian and doing the unexpected, I’m kind of wondering if for his next album he doesn’t drop a traditional country record in the mold of High Top Mountain. Or maybe some Sunday Valley-style jamgrass.

Will be interesting to see what direction he goes.
I've heard he is working on some more traditional bluegrass currently. I've been a fan of all his albums, even the latest one. Still prefer Childers and think he will have a better career.

Really looking forward to seeing them.

Walked in an establishment that sells bottles of liquor last night. . . out of curiosity, of course. Saw 3 bottles of Blanton’s and 3 big bottles of Weller SR. I remember reading that those are kinda hard to find right now so it got my attention until . . .

They had priced the Blanton’s at $145 and the Weller for $89. I don’t know “the lay of the land” like you boys, but that seemed ridiculous. I told the clerk (who appeared to be the owner because it’s a small store) he had some cool stuff but he must be wanting to hold on to it, chuckled to myself, and then walked out.

I don’t understand this boom and who/what decides which products get that nice price bump. Hope that KrazyBourbon benefits from it, though!

If your favorite country artist going crazy isn't a bd enough start to the day, here's some research saying DADYERO only accounts for 20% of how your child turns out. Seems like a lot of stress and compromise when letting them roam like wild animals would be just as likely to work.

This bit is super inspiring:
“There are environmental effects,” he says. “But this is an important point that Harris makes: Environmental effects must not be equated with parenting effects. There is also the culture, and when we talk about kids, culture equals peer group, pretty much.” A social circle, in other words, helps shape a kid’s personality and developmental outcomes, but a parent for the most part does not. There is evidence that parenting can have some early effect, he says, but it gets “diluted over time, and whatever effects of the families there are tend to peter out as the children get older.” Difficult to believe? Pinker can point to exhaustive studies that confirm as much.

My bourbon isn’t affected as it’s not on an allocated list.

Basically the way it should work is whatever price I give distribution I’ll see it double on the shelf and distributor gets 25% margin and collects a VAT tax, then retail gets another 25%.

The distributor price to retail very rarely changes so when you see absurd prices it’s because that owner checks his allocated list and marks it up 100-200%.

Sturgill gonna spit some bars on his Hip Hop Gospel album. Coming soon. he has a FEW decent tunes, but he has never been "OMG, I have to get that album." I just do not see the appeal.

-Was the proprietor Indian?

-MIL currently has 14 bottles of Blantons for no reason other than liking the bottle. She will hit up Buffalo Trace and get a bottle at the gift shop. I think they know her by name now.

-Piggybacking on Anths dad post. We use something called Culture Index and they say that your traits are pretty close to locked in by age 11-12.

As long as it isn’t more than $110 for 12 year it’s fair.

My goal is to get it down from there too, which the toasted should be $60-70 so I’m trending in the right direction.

The bourbon world is taking the steps to kill secondary, but it will take awhile to flood the market with product to over supply the demand. But every major distillery is spending big to increase production and storage, naturally it will just take awhile.

I like Baylor.

I have a hard time being critical of sturgill because NO ONE has jumped the shark harder than my boy Zac Brown. Went from smooth tropical-Americana to straight pop-techno country ********, and also lost a bunch of weight, scrapped the beanie, got ripped and started dressing like Indiana Jones. Having said that, I’ll be in attendance for his concert at Rupp in two weeks, wearing some pfg and remembering the good old days.

On the contrary, my wife is currently hunting Down Home Batch 2 all over Louisville before she hops on a plane tonight.

She only found it for $152 (As Krazy knows).

I think his juice is achieving a cult status for people in the know.

congrats.

Bison strip for boat dad last night, was marvelous. Love Ted’s.

Did a double feature with the wife. JoJo Rabbit and Parasite. Both were good, can see why they were nominated. Both disturbing in their own way.

I’m just gonna let Sturgill be Sturgill and enjoy his music. Can’t wait for the show.

Pumped for game tonight, time to light my fire on this season.

Wilder/Fury-should be a good one.

You have a secondary market right now b/c price doesn't meet the intersection of bourbon demand and supply. They claim they can't produce more, mostly ********, and are lagging behind. So only one thing you can do since you don't have to wait for quantity to increase to equalize the market. They're doing it as a marketing vehicle, which is ridiculous.

Believe this graph is on the 1st page of Econ 101.

- Small store owner was a good ol’ boy. Probably just trying to make some quick cash by marking something up.

- This might be the “lightbulb” game for KU. Damnitalltohell. They’re head and shoulders above anyone in terms of talent. . . especially if they’re making shots to stretch/spread the floor. Gonna be tough to beat.

Know of at least 10 people that would kill to pay that price for Blanton's here in the DFW. And each of them has spent more than $1K in our store to get on the list to buy it for $64.99 when we get some in.

Secondary is a small percentage of the bourbon market.

When retail charges secondary or just under, bottles still sit for long periods of time. So trying to fix by price isn’t a real long term solution.

The reason is that most of the issue is outside the state of Ky, and by increasing supply the rest of the states no longer have a reason for secondary therefore crushing that market.

Heaven Hill tried changing a lot of their products and charging more which got a ton of negative backlash and affected sales.

Most people thought this was just a fad so they weren’t reacting prematurely but as the buying market increases at the ages 21-40 they began to realize this is a long term thing and it’s a “safe” investment to increase supply which cause for millions to be invested for storage and increase grains, labor etc.

I understand your point, but it’s short sighted and a local consumer driven approach.

So Nat Geo ranks power 5 animals of North America:

Polar bear
Moose
Grizzly
Bison
Wolf

I’d say that pretty accurate.

Love bourbon, hate paying secondary prices. I was under the impression any uptick in production was going to satisfy international markets and not really change anything here in the states?

K, maybe they should let the wine and Scotch markets know they're doing it wrong.

[laughing] Did you just make my point? The wine market is so over supplied it’s ridiculous. Scotch? I don’t know a thing about that but if out of the blue that market see’s a 1000x increase in demand I’d imagine it would have the same struggles the bourbon market has had.

If krazykats and ChiefPaduke manage to squander their meager savings buying bourbon futures or something, it will be the most GYERO thing of all time.
