Still in disbelief we won that game considering we didn’t get a single stop from the 5:32 mark. FFS, can we just put a team away?

Somebody get Will Wade a treadmill and a tailor. What a sloppy POS human being.

Good win.

Kentucky is averaging 46 points in the second half since the Auburn loss. If only we could figure out that pesky first half.

Seems like Cal just wants to survive the first half with most of his key players not in foul trouble...Richards had zero fouls in the first half and four in the second half...

Whatever, we won.

I still go back to those two awful losses obviously, but damn, if you told me the preseason #2 team is gonna finish the year with 5-6 losses in a down season for college basketball, I'd tell you there's no way they're less than a 2 seed.

Assuming we keep winning, and adding good Ws to the resume, that Evansville loss will mean less and less. The committee at least says they look more at who you beat than who you lost to, and that L is looking increasingly like an anomaly.

I do think Cal really likes that he only has 8 guys to play. Ultimately he likes the short bench come March. I was wondering who was going in when Nick stepped on the basketball and Montgomery had 4 fouls. I don't know any of those guys.

-It's been said but it's just unbelievable what Richards has become. He just went to Baton Rouge against all top 50 talent in an absolute rock fight and was dominant. He's hands down SEC POY.

-Continuing the trend of getting something out of the quartet. They're kind of a Swiss army crew but I'd like to see a little more. Count me surprised that was a Sestina game but he looked great all around.

-Looking at the stat sheet, hard to tell how we won in pretty convincing fashion. Wonder what it looked like with 2 minutes to play?

-Like Cal getting a glimpse of what we look like without Hagans, we can absolutely use that to change pace on teams as we saw last night, but it was obvious we needed him in crunch time. This late game issue I'm choosing to ignore with Hagans off the floor.

-Hey smart fans, why do we always use the least experienced guy to inbound the ball? Juzang and Brooks passing it in to Sestina? NO.

-The Evansville blip is also helped by the fact they lost their head coach to scandal mid-season. Damn, if we just blitz that team like we should've and we're top 5 right now working on a 1 seed.

-Avoid any dumb loses and we should be locked into a 3. Not a bad outcome, really.

-Immanuel Quickley.

There was a lot of Kahlil Whitney in a couple of those head scratching losses.

Some of our really good teams you could pencil in at least through the S16, like lock it up and book your hotel. This team will be a grind from “the ball is tipped...”.

But, they’ve show an upside that is pretty intriguing, especially if you get Sestina and Juzang knocking down shots at a level that opens the floor for our guards to “get down hill”.

Box Score says EJ only had 3 fouls.

We were handled on the glass, which is extremely odd especially given our size advantage.

Would love someone to tell Maxey NOT to step into his shot. 100% of the time when he does the ball comes flying off the backboards and barely seems to hit rim.

dK’s stat yesterday before the game, and then his opportunity last night really makes me want Maxey as the primary ball handler and have Hagans come off curls.

That LSU team attacks the glass harder than we do, and we held them to 39% overall and 35% from three.

UF twice and Auburn payback at Rupp. LFG!

My assumption is that you have your least experienced guys inbounding because you want guys you trust dealing with the trap and potential foul, going to the line. One of the turnovers was certainly Sestina’s fault, the other looked like the guards didn’t do what they were supposed to and he was trying to beat the double but the spacing was all jacked up.

I chalked that up to Hagans being out and everyone having to slide to a different position.

I'm not as sold on Maxey being primary ball handler but I like mixing it up b/w the 3 guards. Quickley showed last night he can get to the rim or get fouled when he's getting downhill. Wade noted that we didn't run nearly as much pin down stuff as he's used to.

Sestina seems to draw a lot of "he white" fouls. Like that obviously clean block at the end of the game. I think the refs assumed he must have fouled because "he white" and couldn't have gotten up like that to block the shot. I mean, I get it, but it has to drive him crazy.
He needs to work on his "flail" game à la Fulkerson.

* Kentucky was 12 of 13 from close range (inside the block/charge circle) while LSU was something like 12 of 21. Richards and E.J. together are tough to navigate.

* I'm assuming Ashton is OK? Deep thigh bruises are painful, but not debilitating.

* Really happy for Nate. Never been a big self-help guy, but Cal pushes that stuff (books, etc.) on his players and they seem to buy in. Or Nate does, at least.

* UK is 5 spots behind 14-13 Purdue in KenPom. KenPom is broken this year, and for some reason loves the Big 10. There are 9 B1G teams ahead of UK.

* Headed to Lex for the game this weekend. Expecting a better performance than the previous home game.

* I know they lost their coach, but Evansville is 0-14 in the MVC. Most inexplicable UK loss ever.

The rate Maxey scores with the ball in his hands is ideal for crunch time. How many times when we absolutely need a bucket does he drive and get one? Seems like a lot.

Juzang needs minutes. He’s just getting his legs underneath him.

Maxey, Juzang, IQ, Sestina & Nick is a sneaky-good rotation. 1 in, 4-out with two crafty drivers who can finish/hit FTs. 2 set shot bombers and a monster 5.

He has to learn to set a pick better. There were a couple at the under four mark that he could have been tagged on.

- Our computer numbers are just not going to be good. We’re going to have to eye-test these MFers.

- I think our rebounding numbers took a tumble down the stretch. We’re fairly even most of the game.

- If he had the ball as much as Hagans, I’m afraid Maxey would have just as many dumb turnovers. Quick is our closer ... UNLESS Max is on a heater. All that said- Quick and Max need 12+ shots a game.

- Richards now a good to great shotblocker.:sunglasses:
