Blaming Barnhart for Marrow potentially leaving is silly. The football program has received everything they wanted for the Stoops era including salary for staff. Thats not an area that they've been cheap or havent invested in.
Rack. But the staunch Barnhart haters will not budge on this, and it cracks me up.

Marrow is a pure salesman. Pretty sure he has MJ feeling like they really are boys, and is playing him like a fiddle to get this money by using him as a mouthpiece to put preseure on UK and make it all public. He has him hinting that UK has messed up in the past to just turn up the heat even more.

Fine with me. SEC football prints money. Pay them all.

I suppose technically all of Cal’s NCAA losses were upsets but that doesn’t tell the whole story. Unlike everyone of his peers (Roy, K, Wright, Izzo), Cal lacks a truly embarrassing tournament upset. In fact, everyone else has multiple in the last decade.

Two of those “upsets” were to the eventual champs, and we were in every one of those games with a minute to play (save WV). The most inexplicable, I suppose, was K State with his second worst UK team.

Hold on just a second. It just occurred to me. I truly think Marrow is showing interest in another job in order to gain leverage for a raise from his current employer. That’s it, I’ve solved it!!!

I worked in banking for 12 years, I know what the hell I’m talking about.

It was actually very explicable: PJ Washington had the worst FT shooting day in the history of Kentucky Basketball. If he hit anywhere near his average we would’ve won by double figures.

I don’t see how anyone cloud badmouth or blame Marrow, but at some point you have to be able to tell the people you actually want to work with or for exactly what your looking for.

Otherwise, next year who is to say we aren’t in the same situation regardless if we match or come over the top today.

Maybe if we hit some more free throws in the past we'd have won the championship more than once.

2010 missed 13 in a 9 point game
2011 missed 8 in a 1 point game
2014 missed 11 in a 6 point game
2017 missed 7 in a 2 point game
2018 missed 14 in a 3 point game
2019 missed 9 in a 6 point game

Hopefully none of it is a coincidence and it’s all about using leverage for a huge pay increase.

I think Marrow thought the Youngstown St stuff would get him the raise.

Whatever. Take MSU’s offer and raise it by 25% and let’s call it a day.

-Yeah - kinda wish the announcers would STFU about how great we are from the line this year.

-Vecenie Big Board 3.0 out -- Maxey checks in at #5, ahead of COLE. Hagans at 38, and Nick finally debuts at 50.

-Keep wondering if/when David Johnson will start to show up on these mocks. That guy was the best player on that team the moment he stepped onto the floor this season, and there is always a late-bloomer who becomes a scout's favorite as the year winds down. That would be pretty hilarious if that was him this year and they only got a 1/2 a season out of him. Kid is gonna be a star, imo.

-Trayce Jackson Davis is built/moves like a 90s big man. Looks like Funderburke out there since he cut his hair imo.

Who's worse on the road, Iowa or IU? [sick]

The drama is getting old, but I understand, he needs to get his. My issue is he's the recruiting guru that supposed to persuade kids to not waver, be committed and want to be here.

Practice what you preach and put this ish to rest. Enough already.

-I thought Alan Henderson when I saw TJD last night.

-I also see a little bit of Kentavious Caldwell-Pope in David Johnson's game. He's gonna be trouble if he stays for his sophomore year. Much farther along than I expected him to be.

I don't see that at all. KCP averaged 1 assist and 7 3pa per game at UGA, and more of the same in the NBA. Jumpshooting gun. Did you just draw a 6'5 black guy out of a hat?

Johnson is a lead guard & a very good passer/facilitator... gets most everything going downhill & to the rim. Wide body. More athletic Tony Wroten.

I did think of Henderson for TJD tho.

FRIDAY FIVE FILES:

(1) Worst Character Replacements in Television Shows

- Cindy Snow replacing Chrissy Snow - Three's Company
- Roger Phillips (Ted McGinley killed a ton of shows) replacing the void of Richie Cunningham - Happy Days
- Jean-Luc replacing Cody - Step by Step
- Beverly Ann replacing Mrs. Garrett - Facts of Life
- Robert California replacing Michael Scott - The Office

Replacement that didn't make the show skip a beat; and perhaps made the show better: Rebecca Howe replacing Diane Chambers - Cheers

(2) My Current Derby Picks

- Dennis' Moment - Has been laid off 3 months after a disappointing Breeders' Cup Juvenile. Two weeks at The Fountain of Youth should be the return of my favorite.
- Tiz the Law - Bounced back huge in the Holy Bull at Gulfstream.
- Thousand Words - Baffert horse looked great in Santa Anita's Robert B. Lewis Derby prep.
- Anneau d'Or - Maiden that has tremendous pedigree and has been right there at the end in both of his races. He'll like the longer distances.
- Authentic - Another Baffert horse that ran well in the Sham at Santa Anita.

(3) Underrated 80's Movies
- UHF - Weird Al at his best.
- Summer Rental - Severely overlooked John Candy film. Perhaps my favorite with him as the lead.
- Top Secret! - It's Airplane! meets WWII
- Halloween 3: Season of the Witch - Nothing to do with Michael Myers, but it think could have stood on its own feet and just went by, "Season of the Witch."
- Fortress - Australian teacher and classroom kidnapped by four guys in masks that scared the hell out of me as a kid. The Father Christmas one was terrifying. Rachel Ward looking sexy in this one.

(4) Favorite Vegas Hotels
- Golden Nugget - give me old town and Fremont all/air for GAMBOL dad.
- Wynn - When staying on The Strip, you'll find my in their sports book. Walk to its sister, Encore, for Sinatra's and a steak.
- Bellagio - My first stay at Vegas was here and got to sit outside the Louis Vuitton to watch the fountains set to Sinatra. Fell in love.
- Cosmopolitan - If not for sentimental reasons above, this could arguably be the best on the Strip
- Aria - The technology and design in the rooms were enough.

(5) 80's Playlist
- The Psychedelic Furs - Love My Way
- The Cult - She Sells Sanctuary
- Simple Minds - Alive and Kicking
- The Go-Go's - Our Lips Are Sealed
- Tears For Fears - Head Over Heels

Vince Marrow is a master negotiator - and delaying is a hell of a tactic. Sorry that offends you.

-I loved that 2011 team but I'd like to see some of those February 2011 takes while we were limping to a 10-6 SEC record. Not sure where I stand on the comparison but I doubt "dawgs" would be the description.

Mannnn I get what you're saying but that team really was snake bitten. They were playing much better the last month of the season and the basketballs in here could see it coming together despite the **** conference record. IIRC, their last regular season road game in Knoxville was a terrific 2nd half effort. A week later they ran roughshod through the SEC Tourney... but the NCAA had already determined our seeding before Sunday. We were all livid about getting a #4 in Ohio State's region. The redass that week leading up to the tourney lol.

Fun team!! Only 6 deep but DAWGS.

They were DAWGS in Newark that's for sure. Rest of the season, I think it may be revisionist. Still probably my favorite NCAAT weekend outside of NOLA '12.

If we can get consistent play out of Hagans we're a different team, and could definitely turn into DAWGS, but I just don't have any proof that will ever happen.

MattsCats disappeared for what seemed like a decade and came back as a completely different dude - brings old-style GYERO posts better than most anyone.

Did nothing but lurk from like 2007 until recently.
How can you mention bad replacements and not mention Coy and Vance?

As soon as I hit post, I immediately realized I omitted the reason I made that list. That list could be called, The Coy and Vance Horrible Replacement Category"

Avennatti vs. Phil Knight was always going to be a mismatch- but the original accuser ending up doing time is quite a turn of events.

Belated congrats to wcc and his wife on their news. Please post your address here so I can send you something from your registry.

Interesting legislation introduced today in Alabama that would require all men to get a vasectomy by their 50th birthday.

Horse racing futures has to be one of the toughest things to handicap. And the odds just dont seem worth it to invest in for the average horse player. Still find it interesting to keep an eye on, just not confident to put money towards it.

The Astros at this point are going to be public enemy #1 wherever they go this season. Their apology tour was pretty hollow and probably too late to be taken seriously. But yeah since everyone hates you already, no need to think about forfeiting your World Series or individual awards.

Caught the Pharmacist on Netfilx (minor spoilers ahead) and that guy leading the charge was unreal. Having a hand in solving a murder and then completely separate- starting the dominoes against Purdue... what an arc.

UK Baseball picked to finish 7th in the SEC East, and 13th in the conference. Alabama picked behind them- but I really dont know if UK would be favored in any weekend series this year.

Been watching this door all day to see if the Big Dog does in fact walk through it.

- Just got back from the first ultrasound of my first human child. Good heartbeat and rolling solo so all in all a good trip. After raising three cats and a golden retriever, this should be a breeze.

- Early frontrunner for names:

Noelle Alexandra
Lucas Alistair

Although, I also really like a couple of names in honor of my great grandparents- Arch for a boy and Elsie for a girl.

- The lass grew up loving Broadway shows. Was big in her family. Her favorite is Les Mis- knows all the songs, seen it 100x but never live. So bolstered by a handful of bourbons and in the glorious haze following UK’s win over Louisville earlier that day, bought us some tix for their show last night at Aronoff. Was very good and she was locked in like I am during a UK game. Would like to see another show soon. Need to get her some sober fun nights obvi.
