Played some actual beach volleyball today, no one was stressed or angry, didn’t even need the handgun I brought. Always a good time on Thursdays.

If you think I’m not going to wear headphones while at the grocery that’s your problem. Why wouldn’t you take that opportunity to zone out and relax while doing some light shopping to a podcast? Everyone SHOULD have headphones on unless you’re shopping with someone else I guess.

So seems most are in the “we’ll see” category with the Cats’ March chances.

Anyone either very optimistic or very pessimistic at this point?

I graduated early from HS and had to wait until I was 18 to get a REAL job. Also switched schools and drove 30 minutes each way to go a half day for half of Senior year to do it. I mean it sucked to just fu$k off and party while everyone else either went to school or worked a REAL job.
Was lucky enough to have known Smokin Pat back then so I had my drug selling portfolio to tide me over.

Optimistic just because the "best" team I've seen this year was Creighton's performance last night. So if Creighton is the team currently playing the best basketball in the country right now, I'd think our horse has a chance in this race.

Count me as very optimistic.

In my life the less talented teams have always found ways to slow down the superior, and because our coach has forced this team to learn half court ball by not allowing them to run it will make us better prepared.

We have the players, we are experienced for a run, and I think Maxey is set to have one of those magical season endings that catapult him in the draft.

Hagans, Quickley and Richards have the defensive prowess to really stagnate most offenses we will face. Even Montgomery is showing signs of awareness on defense.

I’ve said it before but this team has a very 2011 feeling to me. That team lost 4 SEC games in February and needed a buzzer beater to beat Princeton and was down at the half to a very average WVU team in the 2nd round, but when they were on could beat anyone. I think this team is similar in talent, but margin for error is very slim. So we’ll see I guess!

We made our first kid a surprise which was actually really fun and did a gender reveal for the 2nd. Had my daughter bite into a cupcake that the baker put either blue or pink frosting in after reading the sealed envelope from the dr. Was fun as well. As a future father I recommend letting the future mom do whatever and not give a ****.

Starting to trend more optimistic, but I would still say I'm betting against this team as a contender until they show the ability to not play around with the bad/average teams they face. They still let teams hang around too much and they turn the ball over far too much. That's a combination that's eventually gonna get you beat in a six game stretch.

I'm holding out hope that Hagans evolves in late February like a lot of Cal's guards have. Thinking about guys like Drew Harrison and Marquis Teague. We'll see.

A *bit* optimistic, 2011 had some dawgs...but there were also MUCH better teams that year. 2011 Ohio State and UNC would wax anyone this year.

We won't have to run into anyone of that caliber this year, thankfully.

Nope.

Knight, Liggins, Lamb, occasionally Terrence Jones...even Harrelson towards the end of that year. All are either Dawg or Semi-Dawg status.

Knight might be the most underrated in Cal's tenure due to his soft spoken demeanor and lack of huge success in the pros. Demanded the ball in the crunch, usually came through.

Pessimist. UK is due an early bounce from the tournament. This team is also way to foul prone and too thin to make a run.
Just the fact that people are pumping up a road win at a horrible Vandy team should be a big warning sign.

2011 team could flat out shoot it. Lamb was 48% from 3, Miller 44%, Knight at 38%. Hell even Liggins was 39%. TJ at 33% would still be good enough for 3rd on this squad. Dawgs who could shoot.

They’re way too foul prone on the road in the SEC. In fact, they shockingly foul more on the road than any team in the country vs. at home. What an odd statistic.

Will know more about our chances in March once I see the next three games or so.

If Cal does what he was hinting at after the Vandy win, and takes the handcuffs off the offense, then I’ll be in the optimistic camp.

But if he does what I think he’ll do, which is continue to grind it out, slow it down, and play not to lose, then I’m Johnny Glass Half Empty.

It’s TBD, IMO.

The 2011 "dogs" nearly lost to Princeton and couldn't buy a win on the road in the SEC against a much weaker conference.

I don't see anyone really pumping the Vandy win but they have shot the ball a lot better since breaking their 3 point streak and did just bounce LSU so.

Wait and see is my level.

Almost everything rides on the shoulders of Hagans so put me in the “who knows maybe our team will win” camp.

There is the framework of a team that can make a run but our hook proof point guard can’t go bum *** turny turnover every other game.

That’s my expert opinion.

2011 had 3 really good shooters (2 all timers), a long lockdown defender wing, an upperclassmen Swiss Army knife, an athletic big body 4, and a coach on the floor hustling sneaky athletic center who could play inside and out.

Whatever their record was or how close they came to losing to bad teams, they obviously had better pieces. Not really pessimistic or optimistic, but 2011 isn’t a good comp

I think we make a run in March, so I'm optimistic. Cal seems to loosen up with the team come tourney time and they play better as a result.

Of course I wouldn't be completely shocked if we lost the first weekend either.

And there it is.

Josh Harrellson was a stiff, fat p word for 99% of his career at UK. Go back in time and read the message board comments if you disagree.
