Cal took Jorts and Deandre Liggins and turned them into valuable pieces on a Final Four team. When’s the last time he elevated a player through coaching in a noticeable way?

to be fair... junior and senior.

WCS was another. Richards may be another this year.

That was fantastic. Great half.

IQ isn’t far behind his more heralded backcourt mates. if behind at all, as a two-way guard.

Who is this Nick Richards? Catching iffy passes in full sprint? A ho-hum quiet road 17&7?

Sestina will have issues with certain quick, athletic 4s, BUT he’s smart, he shoots, he stretches the floor, he passes and he rebounds.

Play the best lineup and lets the young wings keep getting better off the bench. I think at least one (Brooks) will play a big role come March.

Edwards needs some coaching.

Our team is dependent on Nick Richards. He couldn’t play in the first half due to foul trouble and we are down. He plays in the second half and we dominate. We need him to keep those fouls under control. He gets too many offensive fouls on the glass or setting screens. We suffer when he isn’t on the court.

Good win overall. Currently drunk at the Pub in Fort Thomas and wondering how I will get home.

2002-03. That was the Marquette team that Tom Crean took to the Final Four.

You know what that means? That means it's been almost twenty years.....almost TWENTY F'ING YEARS since Tom Crean has been a great coach. Anthony Edwards was *one* year old the last time Tom Crean was a great coach. Kirby Smart had just graduated college the last time Tom Crean was a great coach. Bush had just declared war on Afghanistan and thought "this ought to be over quickly" the last time Tom Crean was a great coach. Dwyane Wade played in 13 All Star games, married a famous actress, and fathered a son who uses the female pronouns she/her/hers in the time since Tom Crean was a great coach.

F him, basically.

Props to Cal for also spreading it out and driving like crazy. Nate does that for ya.

Both of these. I hope that Cal realized that Maxey works so well in the spread. Then when defended he could lob to Richards or pass out to Sestina/Quick.

But my head will explode when he trots out EJ and Richards starting against Bama on Saturday.

As much snarking as we do about Cal...I watched that game last night thinking he would do wonders for Anthony Edwards.

He’ll still be a top 5 pick...but what a waste this year will be for him.

He's a helluva talent -- but watching him play last night, it's clear why he went to UGA. He couldn't play like that here, obviously.

-Cal has made clear what his "winning time" lineup is: 3 guards, Nate, and Richards. They start the 2H, and they finish games. At what point to do we roll with that lineup to START the game? It's also one of, if not THE, most experienced lineup he's had his entire time here, which counts for a lot imo.

You aren’t taking into account Whitney’s dreams.

- Thought Brooks did ok last night.

- Hagans was trash talking Edwards all game, and I’m sure it had something to do with being from that area as well.

- The list of players Cal has developed is lengthy, and if he can get Whitney/Juzang to develop then their Soph/Jr years could be exceptionally good teams. #babysteps

- I had forgotten there was still the most important college football game of the year left, what a joke to delay it this long.

- Booked Disney for spring break. With 4 kids the idea of this is overwhelming, but I’m really hoping the wife’s tag a long friend helps........a lot!

- Also got my William LaRue Weller dinner tickets on Monday for Feb 7. The Chef is from Paducah Ky which is awesome to me.

Last year’s GTS dinner date gifted us a 4th child, getting fixed and having no concern of that for the rest of my life is fantastic TBH.

- I shared it on Facebook, but the random people giving my bourbon props is amazing for me. As if it’s not mine and I’m rooting for some guy to make it amongst all the big branded giants.

- Speaking is bourbon, I’m selling most of my ****. I’m sure I’ll work twice as hard to get it back, but when I’m looking at half a down payment for a house on my shelves, reality sets in a little.

- Santa got my 2 oldest a bow and arrow for Christmas, and I got my wife a pistol for defense.

But I’m still alive, and that’s the best I can do to help GYERO, sorry ********!

I don’t mind if he’s still trying to get Whitney and EJ or Brooks going, Sestina doesn’t need to start right now. We all know who will be playing come tourney time.

I know it has been said it does not matter who starts but who finishes but it would be nice to not be in a hole to start a game.

-mff or mmf? Not judging either way.

-getting over the flu. Took first sick day in 8 years last Thursday...rushed back as i had to work Friday(who schedules a proposal to be due on a Friday...outrageous). Bad idea, Saturday was not good. Nearly shat myself at Kroger Chinoe. Maybe I'll get the flu shot next year.

-iq is my favorite basketball cat.

-i guess I think of ej as a wing(he obviously does)...maybe i need think at him as a true "big". It'll make me dislike him less.

-per usual bball cats will be good by march. Anything can happen at that point.

^doesn't make it any less frustrating to watch in dec/jan. Cal's schtick doesn't help, either.

-im over cheering for other sec teams in football in general....but burrow/orgeron make LSU pretty likable. Geaux tigers or whatever.
