“- he brings this upon himself when he seemingly announces his “I’m considering my candidacy” in perpetuity”

Oh no..he assured us he’ll announce a decision before the start of the college football season

Will be interesting to see if the offense has expanded much at all for this weekend. By that I mean basically hitting the TE short across the middle a few times or even throwing it away downfield just to keep a defense somewhat honest.

Not as much respect has been given to our WR corp both for sacrificing individual stats in this offense and for the job they have done blocking. Tough situation for them to be in.

GIve me Oats over Daniel at MLB...

Jennings scares the hell out of me- but I think we can get their QB corp to turn it over a time or two.

0% chance of rain, low 40's during the game, biggest game of the year under the lights... enjoy this one fellas.

Only thing a governor could have a hand in changing is some gaming. And that's not going to happen with either, so who cares.

-who knows maybe the left will win?

-Some coaches get MORE likable as they age. Jim Boeheim is not one of them.

-I still hold to my curmudgeonly take that the CBB season starts too early. Go ahead and have your Madness event in mid-October. Two exhibition games over the first two weeks of November. Then really kick off the season during Thanksgiving week. Everything just seems so rushed when you start the first week of November, and the play suffers as a result.

-Teams that I think are slotted too low in preseason rankings: Georgetown(the real one), Providence, Colorado. On the flip side, I'm not buying Maryland. I get that college basketball as a whole is way down this year, and you have to find SOMEBODY to complete a Top 10 or whatever, I just haven't seen that they can play enough winning basketball to be a real threat. See Turgeon, Mark.

-Pretty remarkable how good a job most D-1 programs did in hiring new coaches for this season. Even schools that didn't necessarily make a great hire were replacing chumps, so it's not like there's going to be a huge step backwards. I'm especially curious to see how these guys do: Otzelberger at UNLV, Young at VT, and Musselman at Arkansas. I think over time, Brannen, Cronin, Hoiberg and Fox will all do really well in their new spots.

-I'm gonna really miss Verne Lundquist this Saturday around 3:30 p.m.

I think Musselman at Arkansas is a sneaky good hire. I like getting a guy who had a little too much success too soon, flamed out, and then had to work his way back to his spot.

Arkansas fans are loving him so far. He could end up not being that great but his intensity and energy on the sideline and preparation for games are a 180 from Anderson.

The possibility of a top 10 class for 2020 could go a long way for him too. Apparently he provides a detailed breakdown of each recruit on their visit in a 50-page binder that explains their strengths and weaknesses in preparation for the NBA. Much more detailed than the previous staff.

Randoms...

- At peace with the change in seasons. I used to loathe late fall and winter but, man, seeing the leaves at almost peak color, going on runs in the cooler/cold weather and getting a roaring fire going at night brings comfort.

- Getting crushed at work. Took over a nice book of business plus balancing time to bring in new deals has me running non stop. As a result I haven’t been able to post much. All good, though.

- Basketball Cats... The length on defense immediately jumps out. The rotations and ability to cover space could be top notch. It’ll be fun to see Whitney and Brooks establish themselves and develop. Maxey has it. Elite.

- Looking forward to a big game environment for a Saturday night in November. I think we bring the juice. Dudes are pissed about what happened last November in Knoxville. Can’t wait.

Here’s my take on what happens on the field. In the words of Fran Curci as he approached midfield in 1981 to greet Johnny Majors... “Johnny, we’re gonna kick your *** today.”

LFG.

Why would I want a form of govt that is going to steal all my investments PTI? The Democrats are eventually going to get everyones but I can at least vote against it until it happens.

Speaking of investments since PTI chimed in and is the only unemployed person in this thread....if my (xx,xxx) shares of Fannie and Freddie hit...I'll probably run for office and fight for you to keep your investments.

Yes!

you know it?

Haven't stayed in a few years. Use to go a couple of times a year as it was the nicest place that was closest to Jay Peak.

Food is awesome (restaurant and pub) and the accommodations are real nice. Just outside of Burlington, which I love going to visit.

I think Alton Brown is their most famous alum - The Culinary Institute, which is a part of the Inn.

Great choice to escape the city.

Actually stayed there one time, proposed to my wife on Jay Peak, went to the ski lodge bar and proceeded to watch UK take down UL in the Patrick Sparks free throw game ('04?). The Inn had an awesome chef's tasting dinner waiting for us when we got back that evening.

- Vermont is stunning. Was surprised by how much I enjoy New England.

- I’m in Williamburg for the weekend. Baby shower for my surrogate-carried niece to be born of my homosexual San Francisco brothers-in-law. I’m progessive AF.

- Anyway, I love it here. Virginia is quite beautiful, peak foliage and also enjoy time with my wife’s family. Plus, our Bahamian friends are coming today so I’ll get some Dorian stories from Ed who was in Abaco when she blew in. Fun but relaxing weekend. I am contributing Great Lakes Christmas Ale and a bourbon to be determined today.

- Not sure what to think about tomorrow. I want to be confident but just can’t get there.

- I’ll take Bama in a tight one.

- The basic fan’s comparison is to 2016 and I get it but it doesn’t hold water upon deeper inspection. Defensively, Ulis was great but Murray couldn’t guard and Briscoe was average. All three of our guards are excellent on the ball. Plus, Willis was a flake and Sestina is anything but. Still, this team will come down to the improvement of Montgomery, Brooks, Juzang and Whitney- and confidence of Richards.

-wife picked up an air popper. Nostalgic. Tastes better than microwave popcorn...and now we can buy artisan kernels from traderwholefoodsco-op. Seriously though: apparently there is a lot if palm oil used in microwave popcorn and the way its harvested is*really* bad for the environment/critters. Of course there are farmers in southeast Asia that make a living at it...so one more thing to be conflicted over.

-the other thing she's on recently is unbleached toilet paper. Works fine...so im good with it.

-my daughters yell at me when i use straws...but leave every ******* light/tv/appliance on 247.

I'm 50/50 at the moment, returned from NYC a bit under the weather :grimace:

I do have a Green Lot pass that I'm not using regardless if anyone is interested.

Really not liking all the "DNP-Coaches Decision" lines for my all-time favorite Wildcat, MKG. I knew he wasn't a surefire thing, but was really hoping he'd be able to carve out a Tony Allen-type niche in the league.
He was drafted way too high - made him look like more of a franchise guy than he really is. I hate it for him - one of my all-time favorite Cats.

Randoms:

- Not a political statement, just throwing raspeck :fistbump: to Tommy and his guy. Still coming to terms with that dude being a year behind me at the same law school and now going to be the next AG (and probably governor down the road).

- Always lots of nerves over here in Frankfort with an administration change at the top. It's a risk you knowingly take on with a Non-Merit position, but still feel bad for anyone losing a job right around or after the holidays.

- Reminded by the Cunningham recruitment why I stopped following closely a long time ago and just familiarize myself with names generally. Back to my "Cal will figure it out in the end" hole.

- Add me to the list for loving that Bucknell bus story.

- "He's not Duke. Carlton Banks is more Duke." :joy:

- Might as well go ahead and out myself: due to familial connections, I'm a (longtime) Cubs, Bears, Bulls, and Blackhawks fan. To that end, MY Bulls are off to a roaring start. Go home, AD, they need you much more than LA.

- Jeremy Piven at COB next Friday. Entourage was fine. I didn't bro out on it like a lot of people at that time. Genuinely funny guy, though, should be a great show.

- Holiday Hot Take: The Grinch movies and shows are terrible. All versions and forms. Probably just a bit of irony in that statement.

- A potential QB room competition between Gatewood and Allen? Yes, please.

- Cats in a close one tomorrow to go above .500, coaches keep the recruiting momentum going, Stoops says no to FSU and everybody else: "I'm already home."
