The best deal going is to live right on the Jessamine / Fayette border so you can venture in for food, etc, but still enjoy low property taxes and avoid the Bolshevik politics of Fayette County.

FTR, Jessamine County is fine. It's a perfectly cromulent place.
As someone who grew up in the sticks and who now has friends living in the sticks, I can say that there's a lot of appeal to living somewhere with no one around you so you can be left the f*** alone.
But you'd also be giving up firm dinner plans 3 nights per week with your immediate neighbors, so I can see both sides.
The guy that lives in Fairdale was a lock to defend Nicholasville. Jessamine Cty is trash very similar to Bullitt in that regard.
