Who even cares? They didn't win the title that year and it was Shaq's last year in LA. The two circumstances are nothing alike.

The Minnesota Timberwolves are never going to win a championship and the sooner you make peace with that and move on the happier you will be.

Feel free to cut and paste "Cincinnati Bengals" into that statement for double the happiness.

Lakers resigning Rondo and a one year deal with Cousins and hoping he can make a 80% recovery would be smart. 80-85 % Boogie will be better than someone else in the 7-8 million range. He is not getting a contract like he wants. He was exposed in the Finals and another 1 year deal to prove himself is the only way.

Rondo
Cousins
Miotic
Danny Green

Could get all of those with the cap they have. Then spend wisely on other fillers.

No need whatsoever for Cousins, they need shooters so Danny Green and Mirotic make sense....

Um, AD has stated he does not want to play the 5. They need a center on the cheap. And a 25/12 guy who passes like a guard, and plays very well along side AD would be perfect. Now, Cousins at 15-18 million, no, but if they can get him for 8 million and he can be near 100%, you do it.

Um, AD needs to get over that because he's the perfect 5 in today's game. The center they need is more of a rim running defensive specialist and Cousins is not likely to be a 25/12 guy again especially on a team that has Lebron and AD. They need SHOOTERS and defense, cousins brings very little of both......

Sorry for clogging up GYERO. But yeah, lets talk immigration and, hell recycle the Wisconsin game. Much better topics, NBA draft and free agency is a waste of time.

I didn’t think Billy Reed’s article was that bad. South end people getting upset are triggered snowflakes.

I’m from the south end but some of what he said wasn’t far off.

Gary Payton played all 82 games and averaged 15pts, 6 assists, and 4 rebounds a game that year. Malone was injured for half the year but averaged 13pts, 9 rebounds, and 4 assists. Had a 30 point game in the playoffs and played above average defense on Tim Duncan for the series.

Absolutely nothing to do with whatever was being discussed, but Payton and Malone were still good NBA players that year, not the equivalent of the half rotting corpse of Robert Parish on the Bulls

I had initially just saw one of the sentences someone posted and thought "yeah well there are some pretty ****** areas and people in the south end" but the comments like parents not being able to afford things for their kids or pay for college and whatever else his ****** warped mind kept piling on were ridiculous.

I also think the notion of "wealth" in that end of town is a lot different. There are plenty of families with a nice haul in their bank accounts, living debt free simple lives. Its certainly not, as he put it- where bleak meets hopelessness.

The South End always has been Louisville’s melting pot, an ethnic mix of blue-collar, working-class people who can’t afford the luxury of dreams. At the neighborhood taverns, the men stare into their cold beers with hard eyes, wondering how they’re going to afford this or that.

Kids born and raised in the South End often have a strike against them from the start. Their parents just don’t have the means to buy them new cars or send them to even the least expensive colleges. The South End is often where bleak merges with hopelessness.

:joy: I mean, that's just ridiculous. He generalizes an entire area of Louisville as "unable to afford the luxury of dreams", lol.

I have zero claim to South End Pride whatsoever, although I now live and work there (insuring those elusive cars & homes). I found the article both hilarious & completely ignorant. Billy Reed is a POS, that's nothing new.

Facebook was gold yesterday from the true South Enders though. Most people on my timeline had a little fun with it - not much else you can do with ignorance of that magnitude. I was offering canned goods to many of my friends.

can't afford the luxury of dreams...

That's gold. Cal is gonna steal that.

These kids didn't grow up with the luxury of dreams, and now you wanna tell them they can't receive a free pair of shoes, or a meal? WHAAAAAT??! And not only that, let me tell you, they know what's going on...they see people wearing their jerseys. But you can't have that steak dinner! You can't afford the luxury of dreams! That's what the NCAA is telling my kids, and that's why I do this - to say, you can afford those dreams.

You've repeatedly said **** like, "sorry for clogging up GYERO," or "I'm not gonna clog up GYERO," etc... However not only do you KEEP clogging up GYERO, you're now righteously indignant when GYERO regulars call you out on it, despite the fact that nobody wants you here in the first place.

STFU and GTFO. How hard is that?

Matt Jones comes back next week, right? His annual summer break is rough on my podcast listening.
It's unlistenable without him. I gave it a shot the day after the Kerry blackshear visit, and turned it off after ten minutes of Matthew Mitchell talking about ways to improve big blue madness and whether or not he and his wife should have another kid.

This Luke Smith pitcher for Louisville is HHHHAAAAAAATTTTEABLE. Perfect fit for that university.

Was watching earlier, had to crawl into an interior room to avoid a tornado, now back watching again. Still hateable.

This is probably recency bias talking, but that UL baseball team could be the most hateable thing that place has produced. Like a team full of LUUUUUKE’S.
I tried to warn you all of this before the postseason even began. I've basically been on my own cheering against them- taking shrapnel in the damn trenches while you all went on and on about the draft and weather.

You sons of bitches nearly let them go the distance before finally latching on to the hate train.
