Exactly. He would've had a 10+ year NFL career if he'd gone the proper route. Instead he was a 290# Mike. Miss St. and Anthony Dixon ran roughly 30 counters for roughly 8 million yards against us that one year....nothing a dude his size could do about it.He ended up being pretty good by the end of his career. He should have been a defensive tackle rather than a linebacker but we would have never landed him if we converted him to DT so it is what it is.
Dude made some big plays. I don't think it is fair to lump him in with busts.
Ha... the counter and a delayed handoff on a draw play are the two plays that expose mediocre LBs. I say that from experience getting torched on about 10 straight draw plays in high school.Anthony Dixon ran roughly 30 counters for roughly 8 million yards against us that one year....nothing a dude his size could do about it.
Donnie is my neighbor and the nicest man there is. Tore his quad against IU in a game that he ran for over 100 yards early in his career. Never got back his form as Curry rushed him back too quickly and he never fully healed. Also, the fact that Moe Williams was on several teams with him and they handed the ball to him 83 times a game didn't help.SAE's letter, and its mention of Eric Gray, brings to mind this question...
Who is the UK football recruit you were most hyped for over the years that didn't pan out?
Mine was Donnie Redd. I'd seen him do crazy, Barry Sanders-type stuff in HS ball and was convinced he'd be a star at Kentucky.
Derek Smith / Brad Pyatt should’ve been legends here. Now just an afterthought.
Smith was first team ALL-SEC. That's not too shabby.‘Can’t miss, but total miss recruits’ will be on Mags list tomorrow. Guaranteed.

Well he is from NKY so duhDerek Smith was an All-American euchre player iirc.
Banger. Makes me feel good every time I hear it… which is not nearly enough in relation to other songs from that era.Valerie

Still have one of those.* Mattel's hand-held Classic Electronic Football will forever be my favorite game ever, and I'm not sure it was close.
There is stupid, there is truly stupid, and there is putting Jared Lorenzen at wideout on multiple occasions.Ron Hudson
*OC coaching fail
Yep. I feel like we had a string of next Herschel Walker/OJ Simpsons during the late 80s to early 90s and none of them materialized. He broke all of OJ’s records!!1!!!!1!
My crew quoted that a million times. Thought he was going slay.He broke all of OJ’s records!!1!!!!1!
He and his ilk at the SAE house played an unGodly amount of euchre. Guess if you just wanted absolutely no part of this NCAA Football smoke it was a nice pastime.
Good guy, though.
He was a dud at UK and UL.Donnell “Flash” Gordon.
Rushed for 6300 yards and 61 touchdowns at South Oldham.
